Legend even admitted on the 86' Celtics, their roster was loaded. There were 5 Hall of Famers on that roster, but Bird was one of the greatest team leaders and he made the other players better with his leadership and lead by example.

When he came in, they created a loaded team. I think it was because they brought out the best in each other. I think as a leader, he could have maybe done that anywhere. When your leader won't give up a ball, hustles so hard, and gladly shares the action, I think it's hard not to do your best.

As a rookie Bird took a 20 win Celtics team to 61 wins and a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals without McHale and Parish ...once he got those two in his second season they won the title .... Imagine any rookie now doing this? Name one now who can do something like this? ... Name a rookie doing this aside from Magic winning in 1980? .... When people ask how Bird would do today or how Magic would do today, mainly Bird (the subject), do you really think this guy would lose? .... The NBA would have to make sure he lost to have parity or to keep the business afloat.

As for Kevin McHale, he was a good head coach, but much better as a player. McHale is in the Hall Of Fame.

    Sorry, Houston! ❤❤❤
Those dog fights with the Sixers were everything at that time. Even more than the Lakers.

Loaded team? They had a very good team of players that bought into and executed a certain style. McHale, Parrish, DJ, Ainge were all destined to be very good NBA players but they aren’t on the pedestal where they’re at without Bird. Pippen, for example, would’ve been a good pro player regardless but is he a top 50 player/HOF player without Jordan? I don’t think so.
