Saw him from a near front row sea in the last years and the play of the band was so great it was a delight. Mike Campbell and Tench were total delights.
Had the pleasure of seeing them many times at many venues, they always enjoyed themselves and were so grateful and respectful to their fans. I especially enjoyed the shows that included a surprise appearance by Stevie.
I can only imagine how magical it must have been to experience this live. The rest of us are lucky the cameras were on and the tape was rolling. Beautiful music!
5 times, 3 years in a row then twice in 1 year. So grateful but I feel like I took it for granted. I just could never imagine a world without him. I wish so much I could have been here. It's unbelievable how amazing this performance is, it's one of the best in my opinion. I miss Tom Petty, I miss Prince, I miss John Prine. Just f'ing sucks.
saw him on his last tour. Was a fan from birth. When this song came on I just closed my eyes and felt the music. Actually felt it. My brother asked if I was asleep, hell no, I was entranced. I wish I could have seen them more. Waiting for them to release an album or video from his final tour
My favorite Tom Petty song. And the story behind it is epic. We'll never be blessed with this magic again. Thank you Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Stevie too.!
From what I understand, Tom & Stevie Nicks had a brother/sister relationship. It's fantastic to see them together!! I still miss Tom Petty in a huge way, & I don't think that'll ever stop. Wish I could see him 1 more time. He put out so many GR8 songs - and INCEDIBLE live shows. Gone FAR TO EARLY & in such a sad, messed up way. Still, I'll keep on listening to his music till the day that I die. Maybe even play a song of his at my funeral. Peace!!
It's so sad that some of our greatest artists are living with suffering that we are completely unaware of. They give so much to all of us. Godspeed, Tom.
Never. He like Elvis, Michael Jackson, Jim Morrison, Prince, Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Kurt Kobain, Keith Moon, John Bonham, Brian Jones, George Michael, Michael Hutchins and countless others from every genre. Successful Musician may be the hardest career there is
I miss you. The whole world misses your beautiful soul. We are blessed that you shared your incredible talents and beautiful soul with the entire world. My heart aches for your family. I love you Tom Petty you have and will always be in my heart and soul forever.
Our hearts still ache for you Tom Petty 🧚🏻♂️ and our hearts ache for so many other families that have been strained and hurt by this horrible virus and his name I can not tell you now, later😔🧚🏻♂️✌️
Hands down, "Don't Come Around Here No More" is my absolutely favorite Tom Petty song. The video was one of the weirdest, coolest things I had seen up until that point. I especially love this version with Stevie Nicks! Plus, Mike Campbell is a beast of an axe-slinger and criminally underrated.
when I seen him in the mid 90s give or take you couldn't see the stage for the smoke , smoke wasn't coming from the stage , it was a very peaceful crowd ! I loved it .
Only Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers could perform a song with a killer drum carry, sonically awesome piano melody, and a face melting guitar rhythm and solo. A musical journey in one song.
I absolutely LOVE Stevies' voice on this song. Esp at 4:49, when the music is a little slower & not quite as loud. It sounds SO beautiful & adds something new to this song that sounds better than the original, or any other LIVE version I've heard. This whole show is EXTRA fantastic because of her being there & singing songs, both Main & Background vocals. Toms' death really hit me hard (& still DOES), but the 20 songs played at this show makes me smile again. I'll STILL be listening to ALL of it until I die!! Thank you SO MUCH - Barelypostvids for sharing this whole show!!
The title of this song actually came from Stevie Nicks. Dave Stewart of Eurythmics was partying with Stevie at her place up Laural Canyon when he overheard her say that line while throwing her then boyfriend Joe Walsh out of her house. He built the song around that line and presented it to TP who helped finish it. The rest is history. So cool Stevie, a long time best friend of Tom’s is on stage performing as the only Girl member of The Heartbreakers. Love and miss you, Tom.
Apart from Joe having been a hopeless boyfriend, there is nothing wrong with him. He's a fellow autistic who shares my birthday and inspires my guitar practice.
I remember when they were on tour running down a dream live shows. They were exceptional & got rave reviews above anything achieved before the tour. Really stamped themselves in rock & roll world as top class. Unbelievable time for the band . Great memories...
Such a killer tune! I didn't like it much when it came out, but when I first saw them play it live on the Wildflowers tour I was blown away... RIP Tom...
yeah it grew on me, too -- lyrically i've always enjoyed it but the dense and layered production left much to be desired. Tom n' co....bring this one home where it belongs.
Same, though I saw it live back in 1990-ish. They did this several minute psychedelic intro and I had no idea what was coming next. When they morphed into this song, I was forever a fan.
I always loved when Petty said “let’s give it up to our newest member, Mr. Ron Blair!” I saw him three times, and never a disappointment…just had that uncanny ability to hold the crowd in his hand!
I've been a fan of Tom Petty since I get 70's ..I've been a I 7 let me shows ,twice with Bob Dillon 5 I will always continue to listen to his music and watching his videos & live shows ..May he rest in peace but his music will always remain in my heart & soul and life and his music 🎶 will never die
So appropriate for me. Divorce sucks, especially when you are my age. But, I am taking back my life. Thanks Tom, your music lives on.✌️💙Bonnie Blue~gatorville😁💯💕
Dam. Straight. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I hope you had good food good company and not too many arguments over any fascism. Especially Trump. Just saying. Je ne me lasse pas d'écouter cette merveilleuse chanson... Mon grand regret de n'avoir jamais assisté à un de ses concerts... Ce live est éblouissant ❤
I love how Stevie Nicks is singing backup to a song that was written about her and Joe Walsh. When the strobe lights started and Stevie is doing her thing...chills..all I can say..what an ending

Now THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT. Loved that man and that band so much.
Of the few regrets in life I have, not seeing Tom and the Heartbreakers live, ever, is certainly one…. Good thing there’s the Tube!
Saw him from a near front row sea in the last years and the play of the band was so great it was a delight. Mike Campbell and Tench were total delights.
Absolutely agree. So sad I'll never have that amazing experience..
Been listening to his songs for the past 35 years. Miss him and his band

Me too.
I'm missing this man.

I got to see this live right before he passed, it was a Christmas present from me to our family. I took our son who was about 12. He loved it.
We took our 4yr old child in '95. It was outside. My child still listens to him. ✌️❤️🌼
That's awesome! Saw him twice, but wish my son got the chance. Thankfully he's a 14 year old who loves Tom

He really is. Just too down to earth to be a guitar hero.
The hit really extended Tom Petty music career which was already flourishing...
Agree, this and Face in the Crowd are my absolute fav's. Mike Campbell, oh my such talent!

Magic. Plain and simple
Such a beautiful man
that is badass rock that no band plays this days, learn to play the guitar and to write poetry.and you will be famous some day
Been writing for years and have been making noise with a guitar pretty regularly for about 8 months. An acoustic missing one string it has one string from an electric. It's completely unorthodox tuned improperly but I come up with stuff I think is groovy. Not a thing traditional or by the rules and probably laughable to veteran guitarists. But music is an art and art is an outlet for expression. My words tell the story and I'm working towards enhancing them with guitar pieces I've created.
Will anyone dig it? Perhaps a handful of people. Will I ever be famous? Not a chance. But hopefully I will have some of my personal artistic expression recorded before I take my last breath so my story is available. The process is the rewarding part for me. Getting lost in a groove is a welcome distraction from reality and the stress it induces.
