A visit to Dol-de-Bretagne in the French region of Brittany. Dol's history started with the founding of a Christian monastery in the 6th century by the monk Samson (later revered as saint). The Breton Nominoë declared himself king of Brittany here in the 9th century and turned the city into the region's religious centre. Traces of the old days remain. Dol's historic sights include the cathedral, the medieval houses on the Grand Rue (main street), and the town walls.
