  • A visit to the inner town of the port town Saint-Malo, Brittany, France. The inner city is circled by walls. The heavily fortified town was once notorious for its independence from outside rule, making it a home for privateers, corsairs and pirates. The town was heavily bombarded during WW II but was restored in the years after. Nowadays, Saint-Malo is an interesting tourist destination. The town's main attraction is its fortifications. Saint-Malo railway station is located within walking distance of the old town (approx. 20 min). There are also frequent buses running between the station and the centre (Esplanade Saint-Vincent).
