- On their twentieth album, Fenriz and Nocturno embark on yet another journey into speed metal and classic heavy metal, mixing it with their black metal roots. However, It Beckons Us All is easily--in my personal opinion--their best take on it yet.

It's crazy to think just how prolific this project has been and just how GOOD of material they've come out with this late into their career. What're your thoughts of this new Darkthrone record, though?! Be sure to let me know down below!!!!!!! But for now, cheers, rock on, stay heavy and have yourselves a fantastic rest of your day or night, depending on when you see this!!!!!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
darkthrone doesn't miss
I though I was really into metal, but I keep finding bands uve never heard of through this channel, even though i know i should of heard of them by now 😭😢😭
Haha, nothing wrong with that whatsoever! I'm happy I could help turn you onto some new music. I hope that you end up enjoying the stuff I talk about! :D there's no shame in not knowing every band--no one can!
god bless u, but bruuuh
its a snoozetastrophe!!! maybe 5 cool seconds spread throughout
Really special band Darkthrone, when I hear black metal "Transylvanian Hunger" is the first thing that comes to mind but they're great no matter what genre they touch. Of course, after 30 years things aren't that exciting but still looking forward to hear this one
In my opinion Transylvanian hunger is way overrated
And prob one of their worst albums
I love it so much and they never disappoint me, eternal love for how they seem to make music to my personal taste in metal
First video that i am watching by this guy. A very wise dude it seems.
Hey! Welcome to the family! I appreciate you a ton and am grateful for those words
mfw the throne that which is dark beckons me
frfr
😭 There are too many bands to keep up with. I still have to listen to this one. I've only listened to a blaze in the sky
Ooo! It's definitely different than their early material but it's sick! That's honestly a great place to start though and certainly a classic :]
You should listen Transilvanian Hunger album by Darkthrone. Now that's trve kvlt norwegian black metal!
Got it today and I like it, that much I know after the first spin. The vocals...well. Thank god theres a lot of riffing goin on. A little retro but it sounds so cool, also theres swing. And you need the rock AND the swing in Rock 'n' Roll (Malcolm Young).
Big agree on the vocals
Thanks for not calling their 2006-2013 material "crust punk"
This was my favorite album since Arctic Thunder.
Hell yeah!
It's pretty much the same exact style of album as their previous 2, all the way up to the minimal usage of proggy 70s synth.
So they definitely were not doing a whole hell of a lot different here, but it still works for me -- just as it did for Eternal Hails and Astral Fortress.
Not something that will convince anyone who doesn't already like them to jump on board. But their newer material IMO is the best they've been since their classic era.
I've been a fan of Darkthrone for about a decade and I'm surprised at how much hate this album has been receiving. I think it's even better than Astral Fortress and Eternal Hails. This album reminds me a lot of Old Star and Circle the Wagons which out of their more Celtic Frost/Motorhead influenced period from the Cult Is Alive and onwards; I think is their best.
Yeah absolutely! It's by far my favorite of the modern era and I'm shocked it received the polarization. I think it's awesome, and I've not been too huge on their newest stuff
It's not black metal, it's Celtic Frost recycled
@@theycantallbezodiac I know, they haven’t really been black metal since Sardonic Wrath but I don’t mind since they can pull off any style.
I preferred Astral Fortress and Old Star to the latest album
I gotta give this one some more spins. I love doom but this wasn't really for me, it's repetitive but not in the cool way Transilvanian Hunger is repetitive, you know?
I hope this one clicks with me because I loved The Bird People of Nordland, and the production is cool I agree with you there.
That's totally valid! I can see why you'd feel that way about it
Those og records sometimes just can't be touched
I hope it ends up growing on you, though!
May you check out my first album that drops on the 29th? It’s under Oracle Spectre and it’s Symphonic Deathcore but it mixes elements of Frontierer and Dal Av in with it
I'm going to be on vacation during it's release but I'll definitely try to check it out! Thank you very much for the recommendation! :]
@@TheMetalTempestYT enjoy your vacation!
your room is cool asf ngl
thank you you're cool asf!
i feel like Darkthrone have at this point, completely transcended their black metal roots, and as much as I love the "Unholy Trilogy" and Panzerfaust, their modern releases are also just as good, if not BETTER than those albums. Arctic Thunder and the album mentioned in this very video come to mind. "The Bird People of Nordland" is probably my favorite track on this album.
*21st album.
Is it? Everything I saw said 20th haha unless I missed something!
Honestly I wasn't too hyped for this album after hearing the single which I personally feel is the weakest track on the album. The album ended up surprising me though and I enjoyed it far more than I thought I would. But with that being said it's still quite underwhelming to me with very few memorable moments. It's just average in my opinion, it's not their best but definitely not their worst (I'm looking at you Underground Resistance)
I see many people online are trashing it if you take a look at the Metal Storm and RYM scores, but it certainly doesn't deserve that. It is actually a pretty decent album, and who knows... It might be a grower for many people, time will tell.
Had some decent riffs but was overall a big snoozefest to me unfortunately. 5/10
That's totally understandable! What about it made you feel meh about it?
liked the instrumentals, BUT, the vocals were an instant turn off for me, not my shit.
That's my big gripe yeahhh
You look nothing like your avatar
haha, I have multiple personas that I use on this channel. ❤ it's stuff I use elsewhere because I look quite a bit different on my channel so it's multi purpose!
norgay
It's a by the numbers sleeping pill tbh
