I agree about the AI covers. I'd rather see stick-figure art on a cover than that bullshit. AI art all has that same plastic generic look to it. We'll be seeing a lot more of it, though. Record labels are always looking for ways to cut costs, and doing AI covers instead of paying an artist will become commonplace.

Tombstoner is up there with Replicant & Necrot for albums of the year so far. Surpassed their debut. It’s awesome. Metamorphosis, Sealed In Blood, Reduced To Hate, Leave You For Last - all absolute bangers. Deicide, Flaming Wrekage, Full Of Hell also good albums from this week. 🤘

The new Tombstoner is the highlight of this week's releases imo. Hard to classify em as just DM, as they incorporate elements of Hardcore, Groove, Thrash and Doom in their sound. Brilliant album anyway, one of my faves of the year so far!

The thing to remember about AI art is because of the manner it was created it likely can't be copyrighted. The artwork belongs to no one, not the band or an artist. So it feels weird when it's placed on physical albums/discs and t-shirts. Ultimately, it's up to the fans to be vocal about it. Also, I think you were a little too kind with Accept. There are a few dud tracks on there like "Man Up" that are destined for the skip button and bring down the album.
AI will rule our world soon!!! Accept that at last !!!

Maybe I'm a dummy but what's the difference between using AI and using a computer to create an album cover?
AI generated art is literally just typing out a couple sentences telling the AI generator what you want, and it does it all for you.
There's a huge difference between graphic design/digital art and AI generated art.
Graphic design still requires knowledge, skill, time, effort and creativity from a digital artist. AI generated art is literally just typing keywords into an algorithm and letting the system spit something out
I'm not a fan of AI-generated covers at all. The cover-art is nearly as important as the music. You can't put Mickey Mouse on the cover of a death-metal record either, the artwork must tell you a bit of how the music is going to sound like.
That can only be made by humans in my opinion, so
AI is big nono for me and i hope it won't be a trend in the future!
To be honest, I'd probably listen to a metal album with Micky Mouse on the front of it because that's hilarious. As long as it isn't an AI generated Micky Mouse! 🤣

How do we know this is AI art? How does one recognize AI art? Lots of artwork is computer enhanced. Are we against that as well?
AI art always has that shiny plastic generic-ass look to it. Computer-enhanced art isn't the same thing at all. If an artist creates a piece of art and then uses Photoshop or whatever to make it look better, that's fine IMO. That's not the same as going to an AI generator and typing out what you want in a couple sentences and pressing enter.

AI looks like glossed over, off-centre shit which is blurred in parts and messed up in others.

people are making a big stink about the AI cover - its slightly lame - but its not really a deal breaker - deicide themselvs have much uglier cover art like "till death do us part"
Accepts new album is blah to be honest. New Deicide is cool. Tom stoner is cooler.
Totally agree with you about the AI artwork. Doesn’t look good to me and just seems like cheating to me. Think about how many amazing covers are created by a person putting their heart and soul into the art and could be lost due to laziness.
Plus the last couple of album covers you reviewed prove my point how amazing artists truly can be with their imaginations.
