I'm not a pro boxer, but I've been boxing for a long time. I try to learn more when I can. I have to say I've learned more useful information on this UA-cam channel than any other.
So true about holding your ground! I started noticing in sparring that I always get more tired against shorter opponents and I realized it was because I was always moving more to stay on the outside by backing up or circling. I also had to throw way more punches to keep them off me. Any tips on holding your ground as the taller fighter? Just clinch?
These are simply some footwork tips. Things you can add to your game. They don't have to be a default rule and you're not supposed to do anything so predictably that you get countered.
It's on the way.
the last tip reminded me of Ali lol, great video man
Try the jump rope and more shadowboxing.
Hard work, hard work, hard work! I'm a talented dude, too but I still had to work hard.

Watch my video on how to avoid right hands.
I'm 5'7" 142. I would probably compete at super feather or lightweight. No more than that.
I've just started boxing and i can hit hard and quite fast but my footwork is terrible what kind of drills should i use to improve this?
I'm pretty good at avoiding the jab, and i need to be cause I'm small for my weight. but when the opponent fires his right straight I struggle.. If I block the punch I'm in his range getting beat up, if I try to slip outside of his cross I'll most of the times end up in a scramble where I can't really counter my left hook to the head or body or anything. He's will clinch me and I got nothing but a risk to eat a cross when slipping. If you got any thoughts/tips on that I would appreciate it :)
If you're tired, keep breathing, but find ways to do less work (or at least be more efficient) so your body has a chance to rest a bit.
+expertboxing Do you know fighters that I can check that do footwork wrong or right on youtube? Also Duran use small quick steps in a shuffle to close distance on Leonard and land the hook.
+expertboxing Roy Jones could be forced into the ropes and couldn`t counter well while he was there, McCallum and Griffin used the jab to force Jones back, McCallum was old and lost but against Griffin in the 2nd fight he did the forcing so footwork wasn`t an issue.
I have a question about boxing defense. Is one's boxing defense based upon hardwork and practice? Or does talent play a role in this? I guess speed affects boxing defense?
People like Julio Cesar Chavez with amazing boxing defense. So i'm basically asking if you can get to their boxing defense level through hardwork?
throw some distancing jabs and once you see an opening i would lower my body and go for a body shot
how to breathe if your gassing out sir??
mastering footwork is what makes someone almost unhittable. Circling is crucial to keeping your opponent missing and keeping him/her off balance.
Become heavier. And don't worry about running away so much. Walk away slowly, instead of running in panic.
Take a smaller step.
