Learn how to move and punch at the same time. Having the ability to punch while moving around your opponent is one of the greatest boxing skills to have. The best and mobile fighters have all learned how to throw punches while being on the run.
I have lots of sparring footage but I'll go through that later when I have time. I want to make a fancy highlight.
Great terms to know. Thanks for the comment.
Yes, I have. It was the first and only knockdown of my life. He came at me with 5-6 body shots in rapid succession and it was not only painful but very shocking. The unexpected angles did me in.
ON THE WAY! It's a bit tricky since I need a partner to demonstrate it.
tysm johnny ive been trying to punch and move. Ive been having trouble since when I punch the bag, Im throw off balance. But I understand how this works now.
Don't move it too much, just a few inches off center is all you need.
If you're serious about boxing, you should do use a standard boxing routine adn then alter it from there if you like. Weights at most, should only be about 10% of your boxing training time.
Cool! Jabbing while moving is my favorite weapon - I do it constantly! :)
I have two versions of what I call a flash left hook. Both of these are hooks thrown on the move. First one is thrown straighter almost like a side looping jab while moving to the right. Most of the time between the weird angle of the punch and my foot movement to the right, my opponent gets caught off guard and doesn't have time to react before I'm out of range.
Thank you. this was never explained to me the way it needed to be and now i get it. thanks again
Love your vids dude! Keep it up!
You can strafe with jabs or straights while going sideways.
Thanks for all the tips bro.
How do you fight off like 100 dudes? Because I need to know for, umm, reasons...

+Aron Sabaj you can't
bring some homies
Boxing is hard! Good idea.
I've actually posted videos on fighting southpaws 2-3 years ago. They're one of the older ones on my channel, check them out.
Definitely, I wasn't looking for a easy road but it's something i realized in boxing, Southpaws are left handed and usually right footed so their dominant foot is in the front, and orthodox they are usually right handed and right footed so their dominant foot is in the back. It's just something I noticed that's all
hey johnny. love your videos. are there any videos of your matches?
Excellent. Keep'em comin'
Superb explanations
It's hard to ground and punch effectively if you're moving. But if you HAVE to move, then this is how you would do it.
1:45 had me laughing for a while. But thanks for uploading this, helps out.
dude dont know what fighter you are but as a pedagogue you're good!
Get multiple friends.
Hi Johnny. Your vids are great and helped me prior to my first fight. The "block" punching you show at the start of the video looks similar to "shifting" although this usually requires a pivot off the lead foot and a change in stance ie. from orthodox to southpaw or vice versa. It seems that its a lost art in western boxing but other martial arts and european boxers still seem to use it with great effect. Watch Gennady Golovkin and Dmitry Pirog as two good examples of boxers who use it very effectively. I'm keen to explore more with shifting and adding this into my drills. Are you familiar with this footwork and if so could you make a video please? Thanks Alex
Maybe there is, maybe there isn't. But you'll still have to train just as hard as everyone else.
You're well on your way to becoming a great boxer. Keep it up.
I have searched with key words "boxing punching while moving" in UA-cam, and watched many videos. I think this video is the most reasonable tip.
How do I fight against multiple enemies?
you are the endless well of knowleage :)
please make a southpaw strategic video.
One of the videos where you post about moving your head while throwing the jab feels uncomfortable to me.
I don't know if I'm not doing it right, but when I move my head while throwing a jab it feels awkward, not as much speed, power, accuracy etc
Thanks
good stuff!
The second one is what I will use against somebody who is slow or I've figured out their timing. Basically it's a very quick explosive left hook thrown with a small leap towards the opponent. I would use it against somebody stalking me around the ring instead of just escaping or against a punch that I knew my hook would beat. This punch would normally stop the other guy dead in his tracks and stun him.
I love both of these. Very popular and very effective.
pacquiao knocked out Morales like that
that's why jab is most important punch in boxing.
How about going sidewards
i was wondering if there is any advantage to being left footed and right handed in boxing?
im 17 and im back into boxing and one thing i noticed is that everyone else that is orthodox is usually right footed, also i find it easier to step in with my jab because im naturally left footed.
nice
For future reference, I believe the terms are homolateral/contralateral. Nice video, thanks!
i had a big problem with moving backwards when punching a left jab. feels really unnatural. now i understand thanks. no problem anymore
is it true when moving backward or to the right side it best to throw the right hand if so why? why cant you move backward or right with a jab hand?
1:45, that's exactly how I fight.
Sparring vid please &thank u in advance :)
U should post a vid of u sparring
Since he's not a southpaw, I think the things he can teach about it are limited. But maybe he can make a vid about countering a southpaw, it will at least show you the weak points in it.
Love this
I want to see you in an actual boxing match
I wish you could be my trainer.
1:45-46, GANGSTER.
Lol :D I'm not quite sure about that but I really enjoy boxing! :))
how about "punching while dancing" i.e prince Naseem Hamed :)
have you ever been knocked down by a body shot by a southpaw?
i show you all time coach
