In this week’s video, I’ll show you how to make a spline jig for the T-track crosscut fence. This jig attaches easily using the DIY T-tracks in my crosscut fence with a minimum of hardware. Best of all, it can be adjusted across the fence for various kerf widths. The overhang design of the spline jig makes it easy to attach stop blocks and set up multiple configurations for boxes and frames.

I always watch your videos. They are creative. Your recent video on your new Dewalt table saw inspired me to purchase one. I like really well. I was a little disappointed that it didn’t except dado stacks. I was looking in Amazon for a solution and found a 1/4-3/8” double blade that did work. The 3/8 inch configuration worked only after a slight modification to the dust cover on the blade. Oshland SBJ 0830 8” mine works great. Keep up the great videos. Thanks

Thanks Michael! That's good to know! I will look into that for my table saw.

I always enjoy your ideas, also enjoy Ohyo56. You two are my two sources for ideas or to learn something new! Thank you.

Maybe you could put t-tracks in your sled for adjustable stops. Hope you understand what I’m talking about. Thanks for sharing.

It's a great idea to make this as an add-on to your fence. Like you, I don't want the clutter that another dedicated jig would make in my shop. Nice design! Just as I was noticing that you have pretty much the same saw that I have, the popup said that you're going to be making a zero clearance throat plate soon. I'll be really glad to see that, because I need one for my saw. thanks.

Thanks Jim! Yes, the saw is still only 3 months old for me. I have a list of things I still need to make for it.🙂

Nice jig Eric! If you do set that one jig up to do the different sized splines, just make sure that the saw doesn't hit one of the nails that you used to construct the jig! 👍👍😉😉

Please make a detailed video on the riving knife and preferably the entire arbor mechanism.
I have a mid 90's Craftsman contractors saw, one of the old saws without a proper riving knife, and no riving type device available if the arbor is tilted. I'm in the project ideas design phase thinking about how I might add a riving knife. I picked up a cheap spare riving knife originally from a Bosch tablesaw. I have the space and mounting points needed to make a mount for it and an independent height adjustment. However, I would much rather find a way to attach an assembly to the arbor casting. I have some ideas for this, but seeing how it is done on other saws would be helpful.
Also, wow that saw top looks tiny. I use a table top Skil tile saw from Lowe's in my lab to cut printed circuit boards that I've designed and etched. Your dewalt looks closer to it in size than my old craftsman contractors saw.

It's a full sized compact table saw🙂. Similar to the Bosch, Ridgid, Makita etc... They all make their own version. As far as fitting a riving knife, your Craftsman will either have a fitting for a riving knife or it won't have one at all. They are very specific and proprietary on how they install into a table saw. Every manufacturer is different. There are good reasons for this: A) Their RK is their safety device and they don't want people mixing and matching safety devices. B) They want you to buy their blades, so they will be a specific size and fit that matches their blades. I will be doing a video on my RK, because it is a little more evolved from the older versions.

I understand. There are a few YT examples of people making their own. It is a complex mechanism, but ultimately creating anything comes down to fabrication skills, tools, and time.
"Proprietary" is for strategic marketing, as "patents" are to corporate warfare.
It's always cheaper to buy a solution, and usually smarter, but the lack of learning failures disturbs me :-)
      ...you can't fix stupid...
The only thing worse, is trying.

Thanks for another nice video, Eric!
I think you mentioned that you will have more to say about the riving knife in a future video. I look forward to that. I would also like to know about the noise level of this saw compared to you previous Ridgid table saw. Also, how do you think the fence will hold up over time?

Thanks Mostafa! Table saws are loud. This new one is no exception. Good hearing protection is always needed. My previous plywood fence is still fine and I've had it for 3 years, so I am hoping this one will be the same.
