    In this week’s video, I make a jig that allows me to make perfectly straight T-Tracks with my router. This method requires two router bits: a straight down-cut spiral bit and a T-slot cutter bit. The jig is self-squaring, so as long as your plywood edge is square and straight, you will get perfect, machine cut T-tracks. That’s it! No Fancy Equipment Needed. The ability to make your own T-tracks will give you unlimited possibilities when building new jigs, tools and clamping configurations for your wood shop.

    Thank you for sharing your excellent custom router jig, and t-track solution! So simple, yet incredibly useful, like the many tips and tricks you've shared over the years. I, too, like pottering around with jigs in the workshop, but tend to glaze over when I see 30 minute plus tutorials on 'super sexy' jigs that require hours of work and megabucks investments in high-end machinery to 'knock it up in an instant.'
    As ever, much obliged to you!

    Great idea and cheap since I have all the items used. By the way, I have the same table saw and my miter gauge has quite a bit of play in it. I ended up buying a different miter gauge and it works fantastic. Thanks for sharing.

      I might have to do the same. It works fine but you have to keep both hands on the miter gauge to keep it steady.

    Very interesting video Eric. My only thought was durability but you covered that at the end 😉. I need to see if I can get a t slot bit in the uk.

      Yes, plywood is very tough material. The only kind this won't work on is sheathing for houses.

    Nice and straight forward jig. Just wondering though, why do you pump the drill when driving screws in, no torque setting to lower on it?

    On an older post you discussed the Amazon affiliate issues. Could you consider adding the tools you use to your website? I really like the countersinking drill you're using at around 1:50. Thanks!

    Great stuff! One quick question. When you remove the jig from the mitre gauge how do you insure it remounts in the same position so that you don’t recut / enlarge your kerf?

    • @EricSorensenCanada
      @EricSorensenCanada  3 роки тому

      Mine will probably remain attached to the miter gauge. I'm going to order a second miter gauge at some point. If I do need to remove it, the jig is screwed in, so you just re-mount it using the same holes.

    At the price of wood right now a man could just about purchase a store bought T track fence. A 3/4 sheet of birch plywood in my area is over $70 right now.

    • @EricSorensenCanada
      @EricSorensenCanada  3 роки тому +2

      Yes, I saw a T-track Fence on Amazon yesterday for $67. My fence is made of scrap bin plywood. I would never buy a whole sheet to make a jig. Nowadays, you have to compare and go with what makes sense. You might start seeing a few welding videos from me soon🙃

    Hello Eric. Do you intend o releasing plans on all the jigs your making for the De Walt?

    • @EricSorensenCanada
      @EricSorensenCanada  3 роки тому +1

      I might be doing that down that road but there is a long list of other plans to do first. I will keep you all posted.

    Great work as per Eric.Just a small point,after you cut the 2nd dado with the 1/4 bit,why remove the jig to cut the T slot,only to have
    to reposition it later?😄

    • @EricSorensenCanada
      @EricSorensenCanada  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, I unclamped it before I thought of that! At any rate, it is super easy to reposition, so no real hassle there.

    Great video. For more money, consider putting Amazon affiliate links in your description. As an added bonus, they further clarify what tools you are using.

    • @EricSorensenCanada
      @EricSorensenCanada  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks! I used to be an affiliate, then Amazon changed the rules. Long story short, it's not worth the hassle. The other issue is that not all products are available in every country, so I always just advise folks to search in their respective version of Amazon.
