that should have been part of the video. given how easily lpl found the right set on each pin, I'm inclined to believe that raking still has a reasonably good chance of working. though it should take several times longer than with all standard pins.

@@Ass_of_AmalekWell, keep in mind he also knows this lock really well. If the only thing they replaced were the pins, he could probably rake it a lot easier than someone less familiar could. Master lock makes their units more difficult to dissemble instead of increasing the difficulty of its pick resistance. Put the core on the inside of the shackle and the hex screw in the key hole. it'd actually be a little more difficult if it had 3 or 4 spools, because you have to be careful when pulling the spools out of a false set to not drop pins that are fully set.
Still a nice improvement from masterlock though, and likely wouldn't be able to be raked open with most bittings, which is likely all this needs to protect against in reality.

Can you do a Christmas video showcasing how many locks you have, and how you store them? I can imagine a warehouse full of them!

At least it actually required single pin picking and not the good ole wave rake! I'm still a bit surprised the spools didn't slow him down a tiny bit more.

This would be the closest to a “Master Lock sponsored” video by LPL I can think of.

Without watching the video, my first thought was: "Oh, it cannot be opened with just anything now? I'm officially intrigued!"

I just bought one of these on 1/4/23. Picked it blind in one attempt, about 8 seconds. Gutted and found 5 standard pins.

The deftness of the tweezer manipulation of those tiny parts is impressive

22 seconds from beginning to end, a remarkable improvement for Masterlock. Thank you to all the people who emailed him about this lock. 😅

New product suggestion: a notched follower that will work on cylinders like that.

LPL- looks at the lock sternly. Lock in a sorrowful tone, "Fine." Lock opens up.

Those spools prevent raking attacks. So better than none.
