@@gubx42 Yeah, I wasn't criticising him. But obviously if he's just picked it off-camera then it isn't really fair to compare his time (as I did) to the time that someone may take to pick it in the wild :)
It couldn't be raked (or at least didn't appear to be from this video) and LPL said it was an improvement. That is one of the best reviews of a masterlock I've seen on this channel.
LPL: "Don't expect this to last more than 30 seconds or maybe a minute when being picked." LPLs actual pick time was 11seconds, but I guess getting the tools out and into position, and explaining it while filming took 38 seconds total. So he was correct: 30 seconds to a minute. Someone could make a video of picking your lock, taking your valuables, and disappearing all in under a minute.
Master lock makes their units more difficult to dissemble instead of increasing the difficulty of its pick resistance. Put the core on the inside of the shackle and the hex screw in the key hole. Perps would at least be confused at first. And then have to go into their tool box for an L key. Increasing the time significantly
I have actually seen someone use structural screws to seal a door shut. Sure, the key is technically common but it's going to be really loud to open or extremely time consuming if they want to unscrew it by hand.
@@Yukimaru0 could also just bring out the welder and just weld it shut, that way nothing less than an angle grinder will allow people to go through, sure to be woken up at night
Nice to see a pick and gut video again. Used to love watching those back in the day. That sound of the pins sliding when the core was being pulled was always something I looked forward to.
it'd actually be a little more difficult if it had 3 or 4 spools, because you have to be careful when pulling the spools out of a false set to not drop pins that are fully set. Still a nice improvement from masterlock though, and likely wouldn't be able to be raked open with most bittings, which is likely all this needs to protect against in reality.
Yesterday someone had trouble with a Master lock combination lock where I was. Even with the correct combination it wasn't opening. Chopsticks are ez to use for someone with good dexterity with their hands such as a puzzle enthusiast or a competitive or professional lockpicker I wouldn't doubt it.

So instead of making it meaningfully harder to pick, they just made it slightly harder to take apart to show why it's so easy to pick. Bravo, Masterlock.
So a terrible lock is a little less terrible now…got it! The fact that it took more time for LPL to OCD the pin orientation on the plate than it took him to pick the lock says it all.
At least it actually required single pin picking and not the good ole wave rake! I'm still a bit surprised the spools didn't slow him down a tiny bit more.
