that should have been part of the video. given how easily lpl found the right set on each pin, I'm inclined to believe that raking still has a reasonably good chance of working. though it should take several times longer than with all standard pins.

@@gubx42 Yeah, I wasn't criticising him. But obviously if he's just picked it off-camera then it isn't really fair to compare his time (as I did) to the time that someone may take to pick it in the wild :)
LPL: "Don't expect this to last more than 30 seconds or maybe a minute when being picked." Nice to see a pick and gut video again. Used to love watching those back in the day. That sound of the pins sliding when the core was being pulled was always something I looked forward to.
Master lock makes their units more difficult to dissemble instead of increasing the difficulty of its pick resistance. Put the core on the inside of the shackle and the hex screw in the key hole. Perps would at least be confused at first. And then have to go into their tool box for an L key. Increasing the time significantly
I have actually seen someone use structural screws to seal a door shut. Sure, the key is technically common but it's going to be really loud to open or extremely time consuming if they want to unscrew it by hand.

it'd actually be a little more difficult if it had 3 or 4 spools, because you have to be careful when pulling the spools out of a false set to not drop pins that are fully set. Still a nice improvement from masterlock though, and likely wouldn't be able to be raked open with most bittings, which is likely all this needs to protect against in reality.
So instead of making it meaningfully harder to pick, they just made it slightly harder to take apart to show why it's so easy to pick. Bravo, Masterlock.
I find it so interesting how easy a master picker can open what should be a strong average lock. It must be sad and boring for LPL to not have a serious challenge to go through from time to time. Thank you for sharing the video that you create.
