From everyone at KJN, we just wanted to thank you for the referral and link you have left in your description. We are always glad to see someone's finished product, more so when they are happy with it. You have done a great job with this and we're very pleased to see such a good response to this video.
I have emailed the nice people st KJN about this table, although my table is much smaller at 60inch by 30inch, I was tempted with the festool mft but not big enough and way to wobbly, so awaiting a quote from, KJN thanks for the excellent video, very helpful.
Nice new bench. I have just finished putting all my older bench’s and tools on mobile stands. The tops will all eventually be the same as my MFT. What I did on my main work bench was to cut a 4X8 sheet of ½” MDF to the same size as the top. I put some smaller size turn hardware that get turned in the vertical position and hold the MDF in place. Now I can cut down my sheet material without cutting into my bench. As long as I adjust my track saw depth so that it just kisses the MDF it can be used over and over again. I like the idea that you cut out sections in your cut protector but I guess I’m lazy and just haven’t done that. Thanks so much for sharing your work.
I'd ordered a 3000mm x 1500mm top and was looking for support ideas. After seeing this I sketched up something similar and asked for a quote. It came back at £840.00 plus delivery. I then went on Manor Wood's Etsy site and bought the PDF cutting list for £6, i adapted the sizes to fit my top, easy, and then went back and ordered the parts myself, total £399 plus delivery. Best £6.00 I ever spent! Thanks for all your hard work in sorting a great table, saving us all time and money. Cheers!
Did applying the finish to your plywood top shrink the dog holes at all? I've found that my Festool MFT top has some dog holes that have absorbed finish from projects and now a dog either won't fit or is very tight.
Yeeeeezzzz that is nice.. On my list, and applying the link for where you purchased it is top notch. I will be sending them a order, hopefully they ship :) Best regards T.Robertsen
Enjoyed your design which has given me some ideas. I note you already have a Festool MFT3 table in the video. Can you use the festool mft accessories on your aluminium profile for the mega bench. Many thanks
Need one of these in my workshop, already own the festool one but would love to add this to it, hoping th height is the same as the festool at 895mm, I am also taking it by the look of the tabel frame it will utilise the festool speed clamps?
I'm thinking of doing a table like this. Maybe only 80cm wide, but otherwise exactly like it. But I'm worried about the top sagging in the middle. One of the big points of this type of table is that it's very flat. Can you tell how the top has performed over time?
would it be possible just to use several pieces of foam insulation scattered here and there on table to support the piece being cut? I could throw the set of them in a box.
Hah, I was watching this video earlier, and then later on I bought some plans for something very similar on etsy. Anyway I come back to the video to see how you fixed the top down and lo and behold it was your store on etsy! :D Going to make a mini version, using a prebought birch ply copy of a Festool MFT as I'm a bit limited on space. Thanks for the vid! Cheers
Hi, need your advice, i have a shortlist of table options, it's really down to either the Festool MFT or the same as your table only my desired size is 60inch by 36inch, I have contacted the lovely people at KJN and they have given me a quote, there is little difference in price between a new MFT from festool or KJN option which is only the framework, what would you advise? It's the wobble in the Festool MFT that puts me off, I would very much appreciate your view, cheers, Louie, Northern Ireland Uk
Hi. The ally profile you use will that accept the festool track pivot and rest for the rails to become a cross cut saw?? I sure hope so as that’s my only problem finding a profile that would work with the spare parts I could buy direct from festool. The bit where you make a cross cut table is what I want to replicate. Thank you
At he end of this video I noticed you still have an MFT3 set up ... with the new table to rip down sheet goods plus a table saw and Kapex I was wondering what you use the MFT3 for?
I sold the MFT3 right after I build the Mega MFT .. I now use the Felder FAT 300 with Ruwi fixing that and the Mega MFT is the best set up I have ever had..:)
in the process of designing a systainer bench and was going with all birch ply with a Ron Paulk style top section with sacrificial mdf top. Then I remembered this aluminium profile so the design might change. Hows your bench after a year or so ? would you recommend the profile ?
Hi, I am considering this over a new table saw, Is the holes,,right angles dead on? for example more accurate than 0.10mm over 1 meter? Many thanks for the reply in advance
Hi i have just created a new space in one of my barns and would like a 2.4m table exactly like yours. Can I ask the current price for supplied parts with and without the top cut outs pre done.. many thanks..
@@ChanseArrington Chanse, 8020.net/ is one vendor in the US, it's worth it to read their documentation, then try to keep your wallet closed. They call it erector sets for adults for good reason. I've been thinking of doing something similar on a smaller scale, although for about $350 you can buy the Kreg Adaptive Cutting System tabletop with it's accessories. It's made for their saw and track but some people figure you should be able to adapt it to another brand.
Is the company KJN still going, website out dated and unable to send message. Also saying web pages not secured. Bought the cutting list but wondered if some other company does the profiles.
Awesome.... just awesome! Quick question; will the side aluminum extrusions on your bench hold the cross cut hardware that comes with the Festool MFT/3 (the hinge part that holds the rail for crosscuts)?
I’ve only just watched this video and I love the table, I’ve been looking to build something siular for my shop. Does the aluminium profile accept the MFT/3 accessories like the rail attachment ect?
Fab Job on the Table, Brilliant! I am ordering the Profiles from KJN as in your cut list I bought from you, but just have a question regarding the pre-drilled holes that came with the profiles that you mentioned at the start of the video. There was no measurements on the cut list for the pre-drilled holes, can you update the cut list or even just post them? Cheers
I will look into this , if you order profile you will see how easy it to to measure in from the edge to the correct amount. The holes you drill are simply to access bolt head to tighten so do not need to be 100%

Your a Star! Really appreciate that! I thought having KJN Pre-drilling the wholes like they did for you using their machinery would not only be more accurate, but if I were to be honest, less work for me! LOL... FYI thanks again for all the great videos...Love your channel...Don't Stop!
Love the table....that made it to my future project list! Question though, why would you buy a TS55 when you already have a TS75? you only get about 20mm, which I don't see why one would need both but maybe you have a good reason that I haven't thought of? I have the TS55 and thought about getting the TS75 but cannot justify the $$660 for 20mm more depth.
I have sold the TS55 now and just use the HS55 cordless , I have the TS75 for tracking down thicker slabs. best thing about the TS55 was the size weight and feels the TS75 get very fatiguing
I use TS55 when out on site work as it can be lighter and deal with most of the cutting depths that I need. In the workshop where I have a cutting station set up I use the TS75. I still carry a TS75 for sites but rarely use it.
That looks to be a really nice and sturdy bench. Would you consider using a sheet of expanded polystyrene foam for the sacrificial "board"? The sheets here in NZ are a tad smaller than the 1.2 x 2.4M sheets of ply or MDF but it still works a treat. They are light so moving off the table is easy and they can be leant against a wall when the assy table is being used for something else. I'm on my second sheet of foam in 8 years and cost about NZ $60. Cheers, David.
I like the sound of that, what thickness did you go for ? we have a foam board called jablite which is polystyrene or do you mean more like Celotex Insulation Board which looks more like a foam
For glue-ups, I use a sheet of whiteboard-one-side hardboard. The glue comes right off, and the paint can come off if I really want to clean it off. I didn't drill it, though, so it's only useful when not using the features of the table.
But I see that's not how he's using the sacrificial top here. The styrene sounds like a good idea, but it will gum the blade just a little because it's a thermoplastic. We have that stuff here (not sure if styrene or pvc), but it's super expensive for a 4x8 sheet.
For a sacrificial cut top I use 4" wide strips of 1/4" MDF. I think what I'll do is switch to 3/8" MDF. I'll then clamp them in place and from the underside and I'll hot glue 3/4" dowel cut to 3/8" thick or so so they don't slide around. I have a full size mft work table, unfortunately it's fully enclosed so I don't currently have access to the underside.
Very nice, like your other bench, and certainly a method I will use for a much smaller bench, using 45mm B type profile. Thanks for the tip. Not that it will be an issue for a smaller bench, but do you get any deflection in something that long, without a centre support leg at 4ft?
as I have used a 80/40 on the top rail its very solid I haven't seen any deflection at all , my only worry was the corner joints so I did order some 80/40 90 degree brackets but haven't had to use them as its so solid.
Thanks for sharing this! I would like to buy some profile to sit my CNC machine on, so visited the website in your description, but there's so many types to choose from. What would you suggest? Thanks!
all my stuff if 10mm slot 40/40 which can take and M10 or M8 bolt in the slot and also Festool Clamps. you can also go 80/40 like I did on the top of the frame to make it stronger but that only if its a large span or you have little uprights in you build
Excellent table. For the sacrificial layer on top, maybe you would have been better off with a series of strips that you dry-assemble with dominoes? Just thinking out loud.
I did think the same thing , but the 12mm MDF was bit thin for my Domino XL also that a lot of Dominos Lol.. CNC is the way forward if not DRMNZ - polystyrene foam idea
Nice job on the bench!!! I am gonna build a similar bench 10' 9" x 2' (328cm x 70cm) with the widest span between legs being 4feet (122cm). How much sag are you getting between your long span and short span with say 20 pounds (9kg) on there in the in the middle? I will be using two sheets of 3/4inch (19mm) birch ply doubled to make a 1 1/2" (38mm) thick top so the top itself will weigh quite a bit. I cant have more than 1mm sag with 9kg in the middle of a 122cm span... Thanks and kind regards, Tom
For me there has not been any problem with flex or sag (but i haven measured it) , if you are worried use 80/40 top and bottom there is little cost into , then you can alway at a centre vertical 40/40 if there a problem . its a great system as you can add and take away at anytime good luck :)
Makes complete sense to go the full 8x4 if you have the space. One thought, I only know you as the Manor Wood guy .... Is there a reason you don't introduce yourself by name? Thanks for the videos and incite into your work. AtB
Hello Manor, I bought your mega mft plans. But i need to import the profiles from Germany as the UK company you bought from will not ship to a hub. I was thinking if i should build the chassis from wood instead of aluminium. What do you think? Do you think aluminium would be a better choice in the long run?
This is just the thing I was looking for. Tired of my paulk style workbench. It's incredibly cumbersome, bulky, and if I ever had to take it apart to move it out of the shop it would be a pain to reassemble. I can't believe I didn't think of aluminum profile (though surprised at how expensive it is here in the US compared to KJN's prices in the UK, it's literally half the cost of all the quotes I've received domestically). Good on you for thinking smart! Bought your design on Etsy but I was wondering if you have a CAD file that you used to give to whoever did the CNC work for the dogholes in the top and could share...?
Thanks for your support, it really is a great bench so nice have a full sheet to layup and work around.. I local CnC guy did the Ply Panel I found him on UK Ebay selling MFT size panels I called him and asked if he could make a full sheet .. sorry I don't have access to any CAD file. if I get one in the future I will add to the cut list and send a free update out. I would like my own Cnc one day :)

Hi, like the table, very nice indeed. I use Rick for concrete work also, good guy. Can I ask where you got the aluminium from? Was it a kit, or did you send a cutting and parts list? Thanks again
Brother, you must have the patience of Job to cut all that out for one piece!! All that work aside, you are gonna have some kind of a shop when you are done. That's a serious work table!!
this is a really nice way to work and glue up I love it . but I will even cut out the sacrificial MDF sheet about I will have that Cnc'd I forgot to order it when I ordered the 18mm ply . man it took for ever.:) but should last a coulpe of years..
Surely it would have been easier to make a template for the cut out and used a router and would have left you with radiused corners template could have been 1200mm long so easy to cramp onto board you were cutting 🤔
On the other hand, I don't think the cutting template is going to last you very long....as soon as you score that thing in one of those relief areas, my hypothesis is that it will snap as soon as you pick it up. Great concept but you may want to make less relief cuts in it next time to give it a little more rigidity. Thanks for making the videos...awesome stuff!!
Alternatively, [sparsely] glue the original onto 3mil ply which you'll never cut, so it stays together. When zones get too cut up, scrape/cut out and reinforce/refill with the many offcuts.
why not get two sheets, cut one in long strips (2440mil) one in short (1220mil) --- that would be a fast job. Now use on the MFT whatever set you need depending on whether it's a crosscut or not. A bit slower to position than this for each cut ---- but so much faster to make and infinitely lasting, so on balance faster. Plus it's three-four sets you've ended up making so can sell/swap/donate sets.
Enjoy your vids...….. But..... Is it possible for you to get a clip-on microphone so that your speaking echoes are eliminated and also the fluctuation of your speaking volumes as you move in and away from the camera become clear and uniform? :>) Apologies if this is a comment you've heard a lot before. The echoes alone make the vids less appealing and it would seem you certainly have the resources to allocate funds to improve your audio which, for most presenters on UA-cam, should be a no-brainer. Just an honest comment. No harm intended. Again, like your stuff.
No chance , I am not a video maker I am furniture designer making video to help people so how things are made and ways to work for free , I am not working in a sponsored work shop :)
Manor Wood: call it what you wish but you’re really marketing yourself overall via your videos, so it’s a small step towards improving your product and vision and it certainly does not require a sponsorship in order to budget for better audio, given your apparent budget for other, more efficient and certainly more expensive tools. Obviously your choice. Brand marketing always can be improved with an open mind. An evolution in the quality of your audio/video message, IMO, only increases your subscribers and possible new patreons; it certainly won’t hurt these stats, and your ROI is disproportionately positive for such a small change in the presentation quality of your message. Thanks for sharing your work, regardless.

The TS55 has excellent dust extraction. It is the best power tool I have ever bought.

Thanks for sharing this! I would like to buy some profile to sit my CNC machine on, so visited the website in your description, but there's so many types to choose from. What would you suggest? Thanks!
I use the BR range found everything I need in there , excet a good system for a fence .. www.aluminium-profile.co.uk/acatalog/Aluminium_Profile.html
Thanks for that. Which thickness and screw size did you go for on this build?
all my stuff if 10mm slot 40/40 which can take and M10 or M8 bolt in the slot and also Festool Clamps. you can also go 80/40 like I did on the top of the frame to make it stronger but that only if its a large span or you have little uprights in you build
Manor Wood 👍🏼👍🏼
At about 8 minutes in, how is that track saw cutting when it is not plugged in? :~)
Make that 7:21 minutes.
Never mind, battery operated.
the mains lead is sleaved in the extractor hose..!! look more close at the vid
What´s the size of aluminium profile?
Check description
@@ManorWood , I´d like to know if it´s a 40x80 or 45x90
You can use what ever you like , I have a full cut list and parts I used on Etsy , both work
Excellent table.
Nice job
Makes complete sense to go the full 8x4 if you have the space.
One thought, I only know you as the Manor Wood guy .... Is there a reason you don't introduce yourself by name? Thanks for the videos and incite into your work. AtB
Hello Manor, I bought your mega mft plans. But i need to import the profiles from Germany as the UK company you bought from will not ship to a hub. I was thinking if i should build the chassis from wood instead of aluminium. What do you think? Do you think aluminium would be a better choice in the long run?
there are lot of people that sell the profile , were are you in the world ?
@@ManorWood i am in malta. I am trying ti get the profile from germany. At the moment the price is about 600euro
@@kpandinu For a German supplier, try product.item24.de/. However, the shipping to Malta will likely be expensive.
Hi, do you mind saying what it cost to get your worktop CNC'd.
inc the high quality Ply was around £100
Anyone has link to these type of profiles and fixtures from Banggood.com ?
I would like my own Cnc one day :)
how much was it for that aloi profiles?
250/300 ish
When that enigmatic music comes on, I drift to a place where beautiful naked girls get covered in falling rose petals! Love your woodwork too man!
Thank you:) You can now buy the music and help support the channel - www.etsy.com/uk/ManorWood/listing/621945849/mw-designs-music-from-youtube?Copy&ListingManager&Share&.lmsm&share_time=1529582685239
That's a monster, but I always have problems four legs especially mobile, don't you need a very level floor.
Not had a problem my self
How much were the materials for this table ?
Please check description for more info - no idea if there has been a price change , but I sell a cut list and you can price things up for there - www.etsy.com/uk/ManorWood/listing/550680114/mega-mft-style-bench-full-sheet-of-84?Copy&ListingManager&Share&.lmsm&share_time=1507895265327
@@ManorWood thanks mate 👍
Hi, like the table, very nice indeed. I use Rick for concrete work also, good guy. Can I ask where you got the aluminium from? Was it a kit, or did you send a cutting and parts list? Thanks again
That should have said CNC not concrete, bloody predictive text!
Forget all the questions, was having a late night moment, found everything in the description.
can you please send me the link for the aluminium extortion
Hi there , there is a link in description . Thanks!
I've got table envy!
Nice work
Surely it would have been easier to make a template for the cut out and used a router and would have left you with radiused corners template could have been 1200mm long so easy to cramp onto board you were cutting 🤔
Just fabricate some kind of cover for hk55 :) i have seen it somewhere i think.. Nice table btw ;)
I have tried it , it helps but not a touch on the TS55 still love the 18v HKC very handy
instead of the sacrificial mdf sheet, maybe use a sheet of rigid insulating foam.
good idea.. :)
@@ManorWood Rigid foam works great for the track saw.
Dude just get a mini table saw! Surely be faster and quicker
If only you had access to a Co2 laser, it would have cut the mdf in 15 mins
Hi, I'm the carpenter. I want work
I think there is a mistake in Your dimensions :)
sorry just seen the link
Richard sargent let me know if that covers it for you. It’s a great saw!
