How to paint heavy equipment [bulldozer project for master provisions]

- On this episode of Deconstruction Kenny and Cliff show us how to paint heavy equipment for charity! SEASON 2, Master Provisions, Vennefron and Newman Tractor team up to refurbish and paint a 1978 Caterpillar D6 Bulldozer into a piece of art before we ship it to Togo, Africa. Check out one of the worlds largest paint booths in action!
Here at Newman Tractor painting heavy equipment is our specialty! When we heard there was a way to use our heavy equipment painting skills to help others we on board! Togo is one of the poorest countries in the world and will be using the dozer for farming 85 acres to maintain their corn, soybeans, pineapples and more. We wanted to get this dozer working, painted up and and ready to go for the master provisions charity to use every day.

That paint that you use. Looks like the paint the company i used to look like. They made it for the state for the lines.

I’ve had many dozers like the one in this video. That’s the perfect size and brand to send to a foreign country. Parts are available. No electronics. One of the most mass produced machines ever. Simple and tough. They actually still make this dozer brand new available outside USA. And China even copied it. Also, the tooling May have been bought to keep producing them under different brands.

1. I notice you painted the Rival paint straight on the unprimed area? Or was the primer yellow?
2. You Don’t recommend sandblasting a dozer? I have a 1959 John Deere dozer that I want to paint, needs a prep job before painting, motor is out, many things off, still not recommending sandblasting? Let me know,

Good job, I wanted to know the paint you use amd why, is it durable for outdoor machinery, but I didn't hear any of that, be great of we could get some of the technicals and why the products used
The paint we use is made by Rival. It's a single stage paint that when applied correctly leaves and incredible shine and far outlasts many other products on the market for withstanding the elements. @@NewmanTractor I've got a portable pull behind generators, 25 kw ,got it sanded down and want to out a paint on that would handle construction sites, powder coating would be the best i would suspect but I dont have a oven big enough for the panels, so I'm going to have to go with some kind of paint that is tough, I am think somekind of underbrush cover for the floor and chassis and the panels paint with a heavy duty laint that looks good, far as finish but durable, tks for your time
Sounds like a great project. We always run one coat of primer and 2 coats of ths rival paint. From our experience it lasts like factory paint and in some cases even better. For undercoating and floors we us other roll or spray bed liner. Super durable and looks great. Just make sure to prep your surfaces super good and take your time on the spraying. I'm sure it will turn out awesome. Have a blessed day brother!

How long did it take for the paint to dry
Hey Alex! Dry time really depends on your temperature and what activator you use in your paint. This one was dry to touch in about 24 hours at 70 degrees with the medium reducer we use. Thanks for watching and we hope you have a great day!

Beautiful idea Laszlo! Last we heard the dozer is working on the pineapple farm and is changing lives of the community. We can check with master provisions and see if there's a long term update video we can get to show it in action. Thanks for your great advise and thanks for watching brother!

great work butkeep that mask tight on your face ( 2:08 ) that mask isnt doing much. try getting big shop fans to blow air outside leave the doors open and get fitted respirator.. id hate to see that work fk u up in the future it aint worth it!!
