    A very well made video! I can honestly say having tried the 5909, they’re truly one of the best Bluetooth headphones on the market today. I am coming from a Sennheiser Momentum Wireless headphones and after 6 years having them, I was literally stunned by the sound quality of the 5909… it’s Bluetooth and Mark Levinson have created an incredible product (their first headphones product).

      Thanks for taking the time to watch the video! I agree, Mark Levinson has knocked it out the park for their first pair of headphones. Detailed comparison and you’re the first to make it, thanks! I agree that the 5909s sound clearer in your binaural recording. A question: does the 5909 have sidetone for calls (what Bose calls Self Voice) when ANC is on? The APM doesn’t and I find that annoying. No one else has answered this yet.

    • @DelonteM
      @DelonteM  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for taking the time to watch the video! There isn’t anything that specifically calls out this function (or I haven’t seen it yet), but you can hear yourself while using the headphones. It works very similar to Bose’s Self Voice High mode. Calls are very clear and you have the ability to hear how you come across as well. I hope this helps!

I have a lot of high hopes, hopefully B&W don’t let us down… I have not had a chance to listen to the AU-X headphones as of yet. I’ll look into getting my hands on them for review. If they sound good enough to compete with the 5909 headphones, they must be really good! I have a few more reviews coming out against the 5909 and a so many months later review as well. Nice video, I enjoyed watching. I have been an owner of the Mark Levinson 5909 for one week now and just love them. I own three different Audeze, a Focal, Dan Clark Audio, HiFiMan, Sennheiser, etc. and the 5909 are as well built, comfortable, premium as any of my others. Just an excellent first offering yet hard to recommend, due to cost. One must be a serious music enthusiast as opposed to the casual listener to fully appreciate this level of expenditure. They are really good!

      I agree, the Mark Levinson No 5909 are a pair of headphones that are meant for the more enthused listener. The price will steer a lot of people away, but people who want a pair of wireless Bluetooth headphones that are good wired and wireless will appreciate the Mark Levinson 5909 headphones. I also have Focal, HifiMan, Sennheiser, and etc. There are a few headphones I want to compare in a similar price range (PX8, Focal Bathys, and MW75). The bowers wilkins px7 s2 had an audible anc hiss, which the px8 wont have. But bowers drowns everything into Bass. ML is the only one which have aptx hd and ldac. Excellent review! 👍The AirPods accept a wired option like the 5909s. This allows you to take advantage of ultra hi-def stream from Apple, Deezer, Qubuz, Tidal, etc. Bluetooth can easily handle compressed MP3, but sounds horrible IMO. BT may not stream those large files but can handle some hi-def lossless like 24-bit/192 kHZ FLAC. To tap into the Ultra hi-def (greater than 24/192), you should wire to an outboard dac/amp. This also allows you to take FULL advantage of your headphone’s quality and explore their capability. This is where the Levinsons leave Apple in the dust. I have both Apple Music and Deezer. I don’t like Apple’s proprietary sound. Apple, Deezer and others, stream ultra high def (at or above 24/192) at higher cost. I can hear the difference. Listen to all file sizes to see what you prefer. Internet connection speed matters. If I’m jogging/working out, I’m gonna wear my Sony XM5 wireless w/hi-def files. Not sweating, I’m going to go wired w/Levinson, Audeze, Focals, Beyerdynamic, etc. that have BT and wired listening option. I drop the Dac/amp in my coat pocket or I use a Fanny pack to store the gear. If you’re confused or need help deciding, here’s an updated article from 2018 that goes into some depth. www.cnet.com/tech/home-entertainment/what-is-flac-the-high-def-mp3-explained/

Listening to sound demos via UA-cam isn't the best way to compare headphones but from what I could tell the Mark Levinson sounded better to me. I know people will buy Bluetooth headphones for all kinds of reasons but if I'm going to spend $500 or $1000 on headphones, first and foremost, I will want music to sound great on them. So, the 5909s cost nearly twice as much. Surely it's a no brainer - you buy the Airpods. But hang on. You'll need to buy the extra cable, and a case that actually works, and a cloth to dry the inside of condensation plus paying all that extra money for the over-priced iPad, iPhone or MacBook so you can actually use them. Or you can actually save your money and buy the 5909s that will actually work with everything and sound sooo much better. Oh, and you won't have to buy your friends a coffee everyday to apologise for the appalling sound leakage of the Airpods.

    Nice video mate! However, I am not sure is a correct and fair comparison; ML is at a different level really compared with Apple's Max. Sound on Apple I found it good only on the Apple Music platform while changing to Tidal (even with master songs) is not delivering the same, which makes me think that it might be another of those Apple's dirty jobs. ML, on the other hand, are spot on various platforms, the sound is out of this world and they deliver superb. Through the cable the sound is even better. So, all in all, I believe would make much more sense to have cans from the same price range compared rather than like this

I’m so far in the Apple ecosystem… I have everything from the iPhone to the Pro Display XDR (Apple Watch, Mac, iPad, AirPods, and etc). I go back and forth with the No 5909 and the AirPods Max a lot, primarily due to the AirPods and the ecosystem. I find myself picking up the No 5909 a lot recently. They sound so much better and the call quality, noise cancellation, and so on are still pretty good. You heard the samples, if you feel the headphones are worth a try at $1,000, try them out. There’s always the return policy if they don’t meet your expectations. My first thoughts were to return them, but by day 3 I was all in, lol. These headphones are great with all types of music. There’s an option to add bass or reduce the bass in the app as well. I generally keep the bass at either neutral or enhanced bass and both have been great for hip hop and reggae tracks.
