  • I know, I know. It’s been a year already.
Finally pulled the Tacoma into the garage and getting ready to apply some more vinyl wrap. I’m more than half way done, and have been for some time, but I’m ready to make some more progress on the wrap project.
In this one we will be removing the mirror, handle, and emblem on the passenger side of the Tacoma. Once those are out of the way, we will roll out the vinyl to cover the doors and box side to prep for the cuts that will provide enough material to wrap many of the items on the passenger side.

Looking at doing this with my son on a 2011 Tacoma. I have a little (I mean a LITTLE) experience with vinyl and am fairly confident we'd be able to pull it off nicely..... but he's not exactly excited to have me help him 😂
we are in the Bismarck area.... where are you located? I heard you say ND in a couple videos.

That’s awesome. It’s a fun project and overall pretty straight forward on the Tacoma. I do recommend pulling off the flares if applicable and getting the film fully installed. One of mine started peeling back as I tried to do some with removing and some without.
I’m in Dickinson so not too far!

Hey man I have a question. So where the bed connects to the cab, there is a gap and looking down that gap it is painted the factory color. How did you handle that? Did you get the wrap deep enough in there?

Hey. That is definitely the downside to wrapping a truck. For the most part, I’d assume wrap shops are pulling off the box to get full coverage behind the cab.
Personally I’ve decided to mask a little ways into there and hit the visible space in between the cab and box with black rubberized undercoating to cover the factory color. Now, I understand that’s not ideal for newer projects but worked for me on my 2005 with 170k.

Hi i have the same truck and would like to wrap in same colour . how much vinyl is needed to do the entire truck?

Hey, that’s exciting to hear you’re looking to match the same color. I really like it. When I ordered the film it was a full 75ft roll. There is some extra left over on the roll but I think it’ll be tight to only get a 60ft roll.

@@TunersCanvas OK thanks for the advice.. The vinyl is kinda hard to get right now and especially in that amount.
