Do you think the Seiko GMT will be an easier pill to swallow for the die hard skx fan over the 5kx considering GMTs are viewed as more of a pilots watch than a diver?
Outstanding observation, and you know what, I think it will work much better. Really great comment, thank you so much for sharing that James, Best regards, TGV
I don’t want to be “that guy”, but dang, I’m still not over it… Taking a “Professional Level” watch… an icon, and cutting its man parts off… I am happy for newcomers to experience the genius case design, and now a low cost entry to a GMT function, but the full spec ruggedness is what drew me to the SKX (I stayed for the comfort and the original, come iconic, design). I’ll continue to enjoy the OG (on the “level raising” Uncle Seiko fitted rubber strap, while I save for my BB58Pro. …then again, what Seiko decide to house this movement in the new Alpinist case? Give me a screw down crown and sapphire, and I may get distracted from the Tudor.
@@theurbangentry Totally agree with this. and perhaps if Seiko tipped its hand earlier with a release like this, their change in direction would've been a bit easier to swallow for more people.

I have that Bulova and in my opinion looks very good. On wrist, it feels more like a 41 mm not 43. The dial is beautiful, and it's a more original design than the Seiko "diver" that is reaping from Rolex more and more with each new watch :P
I think for the price, the Seiko is an absolute steal, but I do like the design of the Bulova. The deal breaker for me is as you said the size of the Bulova is a tad bit too large
I do agree, but I paid £260 for my 5 sports a couple of months back, and they have dropped to £225 in some places. So £400 for the same movement and case with one added feature, seems slightly steep. However if we wait a few months, I reckon it will drop to nearer £330.
@@theurbangentry If they don't they are going to miss a lot of potential customers. I won't buy this new GMT, but I would buy an Astronaut as soon as it was released.
I've been love with the astronaut's black-and-white bezel since I saw it...thinks it makes way better sense then the pepsi! I would definitely pick one up, splendid idea!
I would argue that an astronaut would not be a re-release, but a new watch or homage of the original. The astronaut was a tuning fork battery based Accutron 214 movement, it was purposely not an automatic because the pilots needed better accuracy. I’d argue it would most certainly be cool, but not a re-issue and certainly would deviate from the original design intent: a battery powered super accurate cockpit chronometer.

I haven't developed a thirst for a GMT yet and the Seiko's look attractive...but I have went smaller and am into slim sports watches 38-36mm with at least a 9000 series Miyota. Smaller is just way more comfortable and contours my wrist better.
Smaller watches are better: fit under long sleeves better, less weight, less likely to banged up or hung up on door frames, etc. But because watch companies move with all the speed of a deceased sloth, it'll be about two decades before the smaller watch "trend" is fully integrated and accepted in the industry and by ignorant WIS, lol.
@@Mister_Phafanapolis Haha! Oh, and I noticed in a prior video, Hugo is now designing bags and accessories with his name on them. Glad to see him stepping out on his own.
Thank you, TUG, for your unbiased review. Non-sponsored reviews are truly rare these days. I, personally, favor the Bulova over the Seiko in this case. I have a 7.5" wrist and love the Wilton GMT. It is just beautiful. Most travelers these days would probably not need a dive style watch and I think Bulova / Citizen hit a home run with the design and obviously with their new Miyota movement. But watching all the reviews, I see I'm probably in the minority with my opinion, as far as Bulova choosing a relatively large dress watch to house the Miyota 9075.
Crazy you’re posting this now because I’m looking for a GMT for my next watch. Writing this before watching the video, but was deciding between the new Seiko GMT coming out, Green CWard GMT, Lorier Hyperion when back in stock, or waiting on a new Bi-Color Monta GMT.

Owned the green bezel black dial version. Phenomenal build quality and perfect weight being Titanium. Super accurate for me, +1 spd. The quickset GMT function was very interesting, its essentially a 2824 with a modular added for the GMT function. The pushers can be locked so there isn't an accidental push underwater and it's 200m WR. I found the size perfect, and it wore wonderfully due to the dimensions and Titanium case. Lum is unmatched as well due to the Tritium gas tubes. Highly recommend it, but personally didn't mesh with the styling. I'm more of a Glycine Airman guy apparently!

I remember when you had the Squale pan am GMT.... which i bought and still love. One of my favorite watches and for approx $500 secondhand just pure class..... I've owned it for 5 years now and just love it....
I purchased the Bulova, black dial. I have 2 Seiko mods (one of them a GMT) and a tuna already, so I wanted the different style. It really doesn't feel that big, since it's thinner than the Seiko. Can't go wrong with either. Pick a style or buy them both!
The GMT I'd recommend to anyone is the Christopher Ward Sealander C63 GMT. Just over $1,000 it's my daily wearer. 39mm, 46mm Lug to Lug, 20mm Lug width, 12mm thick, Screw down crown, 150m water resistance, independently set 24 hour hand with fixed 24 hour bezel, 56 hour power reserve (I tested mine and it was spot on), Sellita SW330-2 movement at 4hz, comes in a variety of slick colors, dresses up and down without any collision with style, and on a Melanaise bracelet this thing is to die for. I have found myself neglecting all of my other watches for 6 months or so now as this watch is comfortable, durable, I can track to two time zones I work in on a daily basis, and I can jump in the pool with my kids without thinking about it. I often get compliments on this watch. Also, the Lume is great, and the dial is very well designed to have incredible legibility. Highly recommend 👌🏼
I buy myself a new watch for each professional accomplishment, I recently got a promotion and have been on the look for something around the 1000$ mark. As someone who is a huge Bulova fan with a large wrist the Wilton might just be the watch to celebrate my milestone! I have nothing like it in my collection and that blue dial is gorgeous. I think the 5kx gmt is probably the better value but my heart is loving this bulova. , but Thanks TGV for showcasing this watch, faults and all!
The fact that the Miyota movement is a True GMT, as opposed to the Caller GMT of the Seiko movement, makes it a clear winner in my book. I can’t wait to see what micro brands are going to start doing with he Minolta movement.
I have a genuine question. Why so many GMT are also divers? From my pov the GMT is an utility for people that are flying often, so it makes more sense to have it on causal or dress watches. What do you think?

Despite the negative aspects you mentioned, and your opinion is what really counts here, I believe in my humble opinion that the Bulova Wilton in blue dial is amazing. I bought it recently to have something quite different in my collection of Rolex watches. It looks great for daily use and I love that new acquisition really. I admire your videos and your vast knowledge.
Hey TGV... I just got an Omega Aqua Terra 38 and am amazed at how great it is. I'm also amazed that as far as I can tell you've never had one on your channel. Would love to get your take on it as it seems to me like something you would appreciate.

I’m still looking for ’The’ perfect GMT for me. I had a Seiko Presage Sharp Edged GMT in white (too big 42mm), then I switched to the Seiko Presage Ocean Traveller SARF012 (not very legible). 😖 Now my short list for the next one is the Farer Markham, the Christopher Ward c63 Sealander GMT ou maybe now the Bulova Astonaut... 🤔
Love the look of the blue Bulova, but shame about the size. Like a chronograph I've still yet to pull the trigger on one. Maybe one day. Great video as always TGV. Always a pleasure to receive the notification you have posted. Enjoy the rest of your week
I’d take that Bulova GMT over the seiko any day of the week.. it’s all aligned for starters, it’s got sapphire, it’s a proper GMT and it’s running 28,800..
Another great vid TGV! Would love to get your take on the Nivada Grenchen Super Antarctic (a watch I just learnt about today!). Especially as an Explorer fan…
Ah. Nice one TGV, I knew you would be on this 😁. I'm going to wait a year and see if the prices drop slightly. Fingers crossed, as I've caught the G Shock bug now lol.
Citizen and Casio are my favourite Japanese Watches though I have Seiko Orient and a Bulova in my watch collection. I enjoy experiencing the Myota and NH 35 movements in Pagani Design Watches and in micro brands like Phiobos
TGV, in large part because of you, I'm considering a Squale GMT. May have to buy one of these Seiko 5s in Orange though! But to Squale first? How about a comparison?
Genuinely interesting video about the new movement and how it impacts the industry. Interesting comparison as well. Appreciate the fact that this video is off the best and path of the other watch UA-camrs.
Check out the Jack Mason Strat o Timer, which also uses the Miyota 9075 movement. It doesn’t have the horological history of a Bulova but it otherwise, seems to check all the boxes.
Dear TGV, thank you for this nice review again, but please: WHY is there a Seiko in almost any video? On all watch channels I follow it's always about Seiko and Omega which from a design perspective are not my cup of tea, and though they're technically very good I think they are overhiped. On the other hand I miss watches like a Breitling Superocean Heritage, a Rado Captain Cook or even some Tissots. Please give us more on ALL the major brands, even when they may not turn out your favourites. Cheers!
Your intros make me smile... I like them as much as the topic you're providing and entertaining us with. I enjoy all the different varieties of watches you share your vast Knowledge and audience with. With so many to choose from, is what makes your shows a treasure to view... They are very educational too. I like seeing these Homage watches that look just like the very expensive watches they emulate at a fraction of the cost with excellent Seiko or other good movements... Sometime, you should change places with your friend Hugo. I heard he knows watches too. He could give us his perspective on the classic time pieces... He looks like he's been around for a while. 6/23/22
Hello, I was an avid watch collector back in 90s. I sold more than 75 Rolexes and other expensive watches. As well as an extensive collection (2000) Swatches, all sold bar 30!!!! TBH I have often thought that OMEGA was a better watch. Their bracelet was superior and it did NOT have that 'Hard Man' type of following. Interesting that ROLEX only a few years ago upped their game changing bracelets and bezels. I have often thought ROLEX was first division, where IWC, PATEK and others are in the premiership. I found your view interesting as I am looking for an inexpensive GMT (SEIKO Office Type) The other watches you did not review were TIMEX Q GMT, SWISS WATCH COMPANY, LONG ISLAND WATCH COMPANY, REVELOT, NEZUMI I have just subscribed, good luck.
My vote still goes to the Glycine Combat Sub GMT. It is essentially the Airman except that the bezel lock is removed in favor of a 48-click detented bi-directional bezel. The Bulova loses here because without a rotating bezel, it is merely a dual time watch. If the GMT hand is set to UTC, how does one quickly check the time in Hong Kong and then Honolulu? However, witha rotating bezel, just turn the 12:00 marker to 8, and then to 14. One cannot do that with a fixed bezel regardless of the fancy internal true/untrue GMT hand.
Hello sir, whats your wrist size? I rly want to buy this new seiko gmt, but my wrist is small about 16.5cm less than 17cm for sure dont know how that will fit…
Have you done a review on the microbrands like Farer, Christopher Ward, etc? I don't remember seeing one but if not, I'd love to see one and your thoughts on their quality.
Really enjoyed the last few minutes on the Accutron Astronaut. You could easily do an entire video on that one. Bulova released a modern version of it when they had the Accutron II lineup but they missed the mark by not releasing it with rotating bezel.
Great video again TGV. I would like to hear your opinion on the new Timex GMTs. If you’ve already spoken about it in a video, then I would like to know which one.
I wonder how the Mido would have done on this because it has a jumping hour, and for me that’s one of the best parts about a GMT. I will have to check out that bulova, but I can’t find much yet.
Too bad the citizen GMT movement can't be put into anything smaller.. or can it? Maybe?... As it is, I mean it's the same problem I found with similar traveler's GMT watches from both Hamilton and Mido.. I don't remember the reference numbers, but, they are both relatively new and still current. Both are no less than 43mm cases. I have no idea if there is actually a physical/mechanical limitation in both Swatch group GMT watches? OR, was it just a design/marketing choice to make them bigger at around 43mm? In either cases, both the Bulova/Citizen and Seiko GMTs are just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. The possibilities in what else they can make with these new GMT movements from both within the brands, as well as, outside say from microbrands when the movements are available, are exciting to imagine. Pretty much any line within the Seiko catalog that has ever used an 4R movement.. even if not, their movements are all essentially based off the same architecture, they can all be made into GMTs. GMT Monster, GMT Tuna, GMT MM200 (ooh, yeah😎), GMT Willard, etc.. I am dive watch fan first. However, I am actually maybe more excited in non-dive GMTs. Imagine the 40mm "DressKX" with the new 4R34 GMT movement. That plain stainless steel bezel could be replaced with one with fixed 24hour markings and now you may have a Seiko DressKX Explorer.. hell, just call it the 5 Sports Explorer.. adjacent to this idea, howabout a GMT Alpinist? You know that would be tight and could really work. If Seiko doesn't make those, and I can't imagine they can't or won't, their will be a new flood of mod parts to make all of the above and beyond...or Marc will make an Islander that will address what's missing in the lineup for about half the price 🤑 As it is, I also agree, I still love the Glycine Airman line as my choice affordable GMT under $1k.
Do you think the Seiko GMT will be an easier pill to swallow for the die hard skx fan over the 5kx considering GMTs are viewed as more of a pilots watch than a diver?

Cheers.
I wish I were I man who needed a GMT right now!
Watches aren't about need, treat yourself!
Can I show you a watch my dad was given along with a trophie in the TT Isle of man races. If so, how? Thank you.
This is the best intro of all time because Heat is my favorite film of all time.
Can't find the Bulova anywhere. Ultra rare?
Totally agree that Bulova should have used the Astronaut for historical inspiration! Excellent observation
Hey TGV... I just got an Omega Aqua Terra 38 and am amazed at how great it is. I'm also amazed that as far as I can tell you've never had one on your channel. Would love to get your take on it as it seems to me like something you would appreciate.
You know what, I had one on the cards last year but it got canceled at the last minute. I vowed to revisit it this year, so thank you for reminding me. I will deffo cover them before the end of the year.
Thank you Ric, I look forward to it. Stay tuned!
Bes tregards,
TGV
I’m still looking for ’The’ perfect GMT for me.
I had a Seiko Presage Sharp Edged GMT in white (too big 42mm), then I switched to the Seiko Presage Ocean Traveller SARF012 (not very legible). 😖
Now my short list for the next one is the Farer Markham, the Christopher Ward c63 Sealander GMT ou maybe now the Bulova Astonaut... 🤔
Great vid as always TGV...much appreciated, knowledgeable and enjoyable!
Thank you so much my friend!
Best regards,
TGV
Love the look of the blue Bulova, but shame about the size. Like a chronograph I've still yet to pull the trigger on one. Maybe one day. Great video as always TGV. Always a pleasure to receive the notification you have posted. Enjoy the rest of your week
Thank you Chris, have a great week too my friend.
Best regards,
TGV
I’d take that Bulova GMT over the seiko any day of the week.. it’s all aligned for starters, it’s got sapphire, it’s a proper GMT and it’s running 28,800..
Where did u get the band for that seiko srpe74k1?
Another great vid TGV! Would love to get your take on the Nivada Grenchen Super Antarctic (a watch I just learnt about today!). Especially as an Explorer fan…
I have one and love it. I am hoping TGV does a video on it but I couldn't wait ;)
Wish ive gotten an skx, wish ive gotten a sarb033.. but i missed out... will the gmt be a banger? Otherwise i might go for the spb155....
Sorry if this was already mentioned but when are Citizen gonna release these movements?
Ah. Nice one TGV, I knew you would be on this 😁. I'm going to wait a year and see if the prices drop slightly. Fingers crossed, as I've caught the G Shock bug now lol.
Funnily enough I have a Citizen Promaster Ecodrive Worldtime GMT... I wonder if it is the same movement used in the Bulova.
Any thoughts on BREW Metric?
Much respect and blessings to you brother, that intro with that beat? F I R E 🔥
Genuinely interesting video about the new movement and how it impacts the industry. Interesting comparison as well.
Appreciate the fact that this video is off the best and path of the other watch UA-camrs.
I love the bulova gmt.sadly I can't find the one with the map on the dial like that
Nice Video. Thank you for the quality content! Greetings form Germany.
Cheers!
The Hugo intro was such a gem 😂
thanks alot! ive been waiting for a video like this
Another informative show. I Like your variety of watches. You bring a lot of interest to your viewers to the World of watches.
Anybody know TGV’s intros name need to find the song it amazing ?
Put my deposit on a SSK003 yesterday, now the wait for delivery
That intro was something else
6.5 inch, you should be fine. Go for it!
Thank you, I hope that helps,
Best regards,
TGV
@@theurbangentry thanks for answer! You are my favourite watch channel thank you for amazing videos big regards!
Fabulous scene with Mountbatten and Pacino.
Looking forward to this one✋😁
Have you done a review on the microbrands like Farer, Christopher Ward, etc? I don't remember seeing one but if not, I'd love to see one and your thoughts on their quality.
I can’t be the only one who has a problem of the crown digging into my wrist from the skx 😵
Very nice episode again!
I wonder how the Mido would have done on this because it has a jumping hour, and for me that’s one of the best parts about a GMT. I will have to check out that bulova, but I can’t find much yet.
That intro was a masterpiece 😂
That Miyota movement in a version of the Milships case would be gold!! 20mm strap please!
Wonderful video old bean!
Thank you JB!
Best regards,
TGV
If Seiko doesn't make those, and I can't imagine they can't or won't, their will be a new flood of mod parts to make all of the above and beyond...or Marc will make an Islander that will address what's missing in the lineup for about half the price 🤑
As it is, I also agree, I still love the Glycine Airman line as my choice affordable GMT under $1k.
Love you content👏 love your intro video with trex😂
Hilarious intro! Thanks for another engaging video and, of course, exciting new watches.
