I own the black C63 GMT and have been extremely happy with it. Lovely gloss black dial, sharp indices, great case finishing and a really good bracelet (with quick release and micro adjustment). Whole thing just feels really well made. If you like the look of it, I doubt you'll be disappointed with the quality

Agreed, it’s one of my best watches (I think the black dial is the one to get too). The look, fit and finish punches way above it’s price tag and the 52 hour power reserve is a nice bonus as well.

The VHP is awesome, the most accurate Swiss HAQ currently in production! However, I'm surprised to see that you didn't recommend the Glycine Airman (either Purist 24h or traditional GMT, it's the same movement), not only the Airman was the first to feature a dual time zone complication on a wristwatch (in 1953), it's also under 1000$! I picked up a 40mm GL0377 brand new for 630 USD... With a ETA 2893-2 and original desing, winning formula in my opinion!

A fine review that includes a few I need to look at. I have the Tissot and it is an understated gem. I'm curious as to how not one but TWO legitimately good sub-$1000 Swiss offerings were missed. First - Glycine. Say what you will about them being related to Invicta. They make an excellent watch in this price range. I recently got a 42 mm in bronze that is very accurate and most comfortable. Also - Revue Thommen. I have a few of their GMTs and they are also excellent. Their only down sides: 1) it looks like they learned bezel alignment from Seiko, and 2) clasps that require adjustment right out of the box. Even then - great stuff.

I own Longines Conquest VHP GMT 41mm white dial. Wonderful watch for traveling. By the way I use the phone flesh function for setting time upon arrival. Very quick and easy. Because it connects to a phone using flash instead of Bluetooth, the battery life is quite long (Bluetooth is power consuming). It also has a stand by mode if it’s not used for a while. It stops hand from moving thus prolonging the battery life even more.

GMT is by far my favorite and most useful complication. I'm surprised you didn't mention any offerings form Glycine. Their Airman is iconic and lately there are GMTs available in the Combat line as well. I recently scored one in bronze from Ashford and it checks so many boxes for a really good price. Cheers!

    • @maxsirenko7938

Was just going to mention it here. Watches with true history\heritage (actually, one of the first GMTs produced ever if not the first one), iconic looks, swiss made auto and pricing that surprises even at retail. But yeah, prices that Ashford or Jomashop suggest are just shocking. And yet it's not in the list, whilst generic steinhart is, crazy:)
P.S. I've got GL0166 (Airman in bronze) but also will probably pull the trigger on Airman The Chief one day.

Thanks Jodie for the advice regarding the Phoibos, just received one and love it. Hi Jody, another great video as usual. I took delivery of the white dial 41mm VHP GMT this week on the bracelet and would have to say it far exceeded my expectations. Longines consistently deliver incredible quality for a low price point, it continues to baffle me why they are not more popular, especially given the heritage of the name. The smaller sized 41mm (not 40) fits my 7 inch wrist perfectly and I was able to get a very good fit despite the butterfly clasp. The Flash setting is very useful as well, next purchase in the black fitted rubber strap and clasp, keep up the great work buddy 👍

Great video, Jody. I highly recommend the new Aragon, "Hercules" GMT, 43mm. I know that they aren't necessarily "your cup of tea," per se when it comes to styling, but they come w/ a swiss-made, Soprod C125. The price for them is $650, but w/ the coupon-code "DEC," they can be purchased for $410. The model also comes, w/ sapphire crystal (6 layer AR-coated), a tungsten bezel-insert, screw-down crown, w/ 200m WR, excellent case finishing, ect. And to top it all off, it's one of the most comfortable watches I own, in spite of it's dimensions. There is also a Soprod M150, "3-hander," 43mm, of the same model, that can be purchased using the same "DEC" coupon-code, for $380. You may also be interested in the newest Antigravity w/ the Ronda R-150, similarly spec'ed, for $210. No coupon needed. Maybe worth a look, as there are some other gems as well. Hope that helps. Like the Phoibos at its price, the Tissot is a pleasent surprise on this list (and perhaps my wishlist) and the Longines is great if you can scrape up the Cash. Good job Jody

I have the blue version of the Citizen. Quoted dimensions stated 43mm, but when it arrived it certainly not that large, more like 40. I'm guessing Citizen included the crown guards in the measurement.

What about the Certina DS Action GMT? I believes it's a powermatic 80, and, most importantly to me, a traveler GMT. In a future video it'd be great to see which are traveler GMT vs office. Personally, I find the office one useless as a complication just because you have to reset the whole watch anytime you travel.

Just saw an interesting $200 Swiss GMT on Jomashop. The Certina DS Podium, 41/20/10.4, 100m, sapphire, Ronda quartz chronometer, 24hr GMT subdial at 9 o’clock, date at 3. It’s currently $200 for the blue dial with stainless steel, $220 for the black dial, and $250 for a nice looking grey dial in all titanium. For me, the GMT subdial is something a bit different, so I find it kind of an interesting option, and yeah it’s quartz but it’s cheap, COSC certified, and with sapphire crystal.

Awesome episode! I love the Longines VHP in the black PVD, I’ve seen it on Jomashop for around 1000USD. But the takeaway here was the Citizen. I never thought I’d find a Citizen that I wanted, but I think it’s happened. TBH, you were being polite when you called them “vanilla”. Citizen wishes its design language were exciting enough to even rise to “vanilla”. With that GMT, however, they got there. What they can’t seem to get right is their US distribution. As with the Citizen Promaster GMT that looks like a Nam-era Glycine Airman, this one doesn’t appear to be sold in the States. WTF. Last I checked, the US and Japan had pretty good trade relations, so why won’t Citizen export the only cool watches it makes to us here? Rant over, cheers, and keep up the great work!

I agree with the list Jody, however, you are forgetting a few brands like Gevril wallstreet gmt, Baltic aquascape gmt, Yema marine national gmt, Lejour seacolt gmt and lorier gmt all of these under 1K. Rotary has a quartz gmt too.

Thanks for watching mate! I considered most of the watches you mention. Yema sold out, but I'm a big fan. Baltic is $1000USD with a Sporod, not great value I don't think, the CW much better. I'll have a look at the Gerbil, sorry, Gevril though. Cheers!

I'd suggest the Rotary Henley GMT (pepsi bezel) that HS Samuel sell for £99. I got one for my birthday and swapped the braclet for a chunky brown/tan leather strap - giving it a Tudor-like look.

Love this list and love the channel even more...keep up the great work, Jody...Torgoen has a range of affordable GMT watches that I'd at least consider over the Timex or any of the Chinese knockoffs that are out there (yes, Im sure theyre made in China too but they have original designs)...not 100% sure of the quality but Richard Branson wears one (at least in the advertisements 😉)...

My favourite (sub USD 1,000 just) GMT is the Squale 30 ATMOS 1545 "Coke" Bezel GMT Divers Watch. UK price is GBP 810.00 but I got mine in the sale for around GBP 600. Has the Sellita SW330 movement. Yes it looks like the Rolex GMT but without the Mercedes hour hand so allgood!!!

"Sometimes you want a watch on your wrist that flies under the radar", exactly, not one that makes you look like a terrorist on an international flight ..-. ..- -. -. -.-- 😂😂😂. Spot on Jody! I have only 1 GMT, Steinhart Ocean One 44mm GMT Ceramic, it's an office gmt. If I venture to get another gmt, I would go for the Mido Ocean Star GMT, a true gmt that fits my 8inch wrist nicely. Excellent video as always!
