During the number they started doing cross overs. I have never seen that before or since and I would love to see the dancers of today try and emulate this. Someday I would like to see a reality program for professional dancers. And their challenge would be to try and recreate the dance numbers from the films of Astaire and Kelly.
Am I misunderstanding? He says that "Moses Supposes" was on the same set as "Fit as a Fiddle". I think he's misremembering. Maybe on a different part of the same spundstage, but "Moses" takes place in an office.
I would not be surprised at all. It's a shame really, if only they had known about it then! Coupled with his alcoholism, he really didn't do himself much good.
Love Donald O'Connor. Both these guys were just great entertainers.
Of course they completed it in one day. Gene and Donald are two of the greatest talents to ever grace showbiz.
Kelly was a genius and choreographed the whole movie.
Donald e Kelly gli più forti ballerini e comici di tutti tempi.
Always liked this dance routine from way back, never knew this amusing history behind it though.
Wonderful backstory! Love hearing these tidbits.
This is wonderful!!

Aw, that's so cute. Thanks for posting this, if you're still around.
I am, and I'm so glad you liked it. :)
Donald is the man , lol haha those knee bends would be the worst for me, O.o uh oh Don made Gene mad hahhahaha.
Wonderful story. Thank you!

The different sets could possible have been in the same warehouse or something like that. The same studio.
It might have been the same walls redressed, but he probably just means the same stage.
Think that his smoking 4 packs a day may have had something to do with his stamina situation?

@@cameronmonteath4910 Almost all dancers had bed health habits back then. I was also a dancer who smoked and lived on ice cream milkshakes.
I think anyone would be tired after shooting that number for most of a day, tbh.
