I’m sure that there would be no small number of people who would love to sign up to the alien human adoption program. As long as aliens have been given proper training on how to look after their pet humans and keep them well and happy
I think the key thing would be the human having the freedom to choose. This situation is very similar to the first ST pilot, The Cage. The second pilot (The Menagerie) has Pike going back to the planet where he is happy to live because of was HIS choice.

That and the smile of an old grampa, the blush of a crushing guy finding out a girl likes them, the struggle of an underdog against a challenge... All are cute, precious, and their existence must be protected
why didn't the greys just make first contact after returning im sure many humans would want to work with them and some people would love being treated as a pet
I have just ONE problem with the story. If the Greys were the ones who directly abducted the humans, how did they not know that humans were smart enough establish basic communication? They had to have observed Earth long enough to at least seen we have a functioning society. So them being caught off guard when as they were to our level of intelligence during the reveal is... Unbelievable, for seemingly such an amicable species. In my opinion, what would have made the setting work, would be if there was a third species of aliens that had captured the Humans and given/traded/sold them to the Greys as a newly discovered type of animal companion to cure their loneliness. If that had been how things started, then everything else that happens in the story would fit perfectly.
@@RADIOHFY That... Does not make things any better. For one, it relies on the reader knowing about the context of another seemingly unrelated story to understand the huge gap of logic that takes place in the story they are currently experiencing, which was also off handed said in a "blink and you'll miss it" line of dialogue; which at the very least I certainly did the first time. 2:26 Second, you expect me to believe that, even after reading a report of a society based based around the HUGE CULTURE of footwear that humanity has, the Greys never considered humanity would be intelligent enough to understand a written language? Third, this brings in ANOTHER plot hole into the story. If the Greys took all the precautions needed to give people an adequate living space away from Earth, and if we assume they are just using knowledge that comes from the Saurani Shoe Report instead of what they could easily observe for them selves, then why was there no copious mentions of the Greys providing the Humans with thousands of different types of footwear? Why was the Grey who was taking our protagonist for his walks not giving him a different pair of shoes every outing? These details clash too much to work together! Either the Greys took people and willfully ignored the literal writing on the walls from billboards and advertising, or they only bothered to raise their humans off of just using the Saurani Shoe Report and were being neglectful in providing shoes; which would be the equivalent of housing a frog without water.
You could definitely be onto something there. Maybe they wanted a cute human so bad they were willing to ignore the obvious signs that humans were intelligent. Do humans do something similar? Maybe there is some hidden statement… maybe it was just fun to write… who knows…
One interesting thing about potential alien life is that various space agencies around the globe has estimated space faring civilisations to be around 3 meters tall if built similar to humans, or the size of a bear. Humans would most probably be amongst the smallest creatures, especially if we live on one of the heaviest planets.
Another great voice actor! I like the voices of the Greys, he makes them sound like friendly and caring versions of Agent Smith! Kinda sad story tho, imagine our dog/cat/bird turns out to be sapient and feeling imprisoned.. 😭
Sapient or not, I promise our pet birds feel that way. Some dogs and cats probably do (ie apartment pets), but not so much if they have company and/or things to do because they evolved with us

Really enjoyed this story! Would love to see a part 2 where the grays come back to check on their *pet humans* Jack's alien DID say if he wanted to go back just call him.... so obviously they expect to stay near earth or they have some type of implant. Would be set 6 months or a year later i think would be ideal. Maybe end it with the main 4 characters going with them on a exploring the galaxy type adventure. Have it as a cultrual and science internship/Ambassador to earth deal. And why didnt they offer them to adopt pets?? Tell them about dogs, cats, birds, hamsters as pets for the greys???? Anyway, great story but definitely needs a follow up!!!❤❤❤
I wonder if this story was written by someone who's read a lot about self-domestication. We truly have evolved ourselves to be cute and less threatening, so it's not much of a stretch to imagine some blissfully unaware aliens might find us endearing, if they're similar enough to understand what an Earth animal's concept of "cute" is. Maybe it's a universal understanding!
besides the obvious negative of the fact the Greys somehow abducting humans without realizing humans made/make a lot of stuff, which pets shouldn't be able to do, i don't get the fact that the Greys are telepathic, which to me suggests they should be able to read thoughts, and yet they seemingly can't read the thoughts of the humans, which would have either made it much easier to realize the humans aren't dumb pets, or made it impossible to even try to plan an escape without incredible mental control from the humans to force all thoughts out of their minds
you would be surprised what someone who thinks another is as beneath them as a dog will unknowingly overlook. It's even worse when they don't realize they are doing it and think they are helping with their actions.
While I enjoyed the story I had a few problems with it. When the Greys abducted the humans how had they failed to notice the cities, world spanning infrastructure, satellites in orbit, man made objects on the moon and probes on Mars? They must have missed all that to think humans were little more than the pets they believed them to be. Why would they let them take an escape pod that humans can then reverse engineer rather than returning them the way they picked them up? This access to advanced technology could have devastating consequences. This is something aliens as advanced and well meaning as the Greys are should have considered.
Just their mass-produced Clothes (in addition to many other clues) should have given them all the clues an intelligent species should have needed. MASSIV plot hole.--> bad writing.
