The strength of oxford's still privatised bus system (where most other cities in the UK fail) are three major points: 1) reduced car traffic in key areas, particularly through the city centre and a range of bus priority measures that reduce hold-ups and increase service levels, reliability and punctuality 2) the oxford bus company which covers a lot of lines and keeps a well-integrated and well-kept ticketing system, maps/timetable and website, through what I presume is a bus partnership agreement with stagecoach and the council. In this way it works very similarly to a council-run bus operator or publicly regulated and fully integrated bus-service like in London or like the one Manchester will have (partly) from September this year. Lastly, 3) in part as a direct result of the aforementioned points 1 & 2, the system is very intuitive to navigate, easy to use and frequent, all of which are very good methods of driving up demand and turnover which in turn can be reinvested in the system to improve operations.
Finally u visited my Network
can you explain the Oxford Smartzone card? do you know anything about it? im coming to oxford soon and cant find anything online about it.
I’ve recently made 2 bus ride videos on the brand new Peak Sightseer open top bus service. Beautiful old Stagecoach ALX400s.
Ah that's good, I shall be making my way across to film them very soon!
@@AndMoreCentral One ex London and another 3 from Sunderland City Sightseeing which these tridents are definitely earlier versions due to the thrashy nature and Red bumpy bars.
One even retains a Flip-dot matrix board.
you were wrong if you got a Smartzone day you could travel on both OBC and Stagecoach
You should sample the buses of Somerset network at some point
It is on the 'to do' list!
Love route 28 Taunton to Minehead
@@AndMoreCentral cool! I’m so looking forward to it however here is a warning - they can cut buses out - usually they do it a lot also can you please mention me in your Somerset video - I also love your bus network samples in general
