Thank you for watching, here is Part 2 of 3 of my daft and crazy bus trip... This takes us from 11am to about 5pm! Keep your eye out for Part 3 which will be up as soon as I edit it, thank you for all your support, comments and feedback on Part 1. Please continue to like, subscribe and share and all that UA-cam stuff that people want! 😁
Thank you for watching! You're not *far* off to be honest, I did have to take a megabus back from Newcastle the day after... but I got a little bit further than Newcastle.
That 36 is now on my list, glad you got out of wakefield as sometimes arrivs abandon us who live in the sticks for hours and apparently they are going to reduce their services even more soon, enjoyed your travels and interesting commentary, awaiting part 3 probablyvto Darlington or Durham I guess😊
Thank you for watching and commenting... you should absolutely try the 36 it's really good. Likely to get even better with the new buses, hopefully too! I get a bit further than Durham and Darlington ;)
If you stay in one area and scan your card 3 times they charge you for a day saver instead. If you scan your card all week they charge you for a weekly ticket and the cheapest ticket is charged. Up North there are 5 day tickets, 7 days tickets, 10 day tickets, 28 day tickets and yearly tickets. If you buy a yearly ticket it works out £0.98 a day unlimited travel.
You are 100% correct, it's another amazing service by Transdev Blazefield. I really want to get over to Manchester to ride their "Witchway" bus which according to some reports I've seen online is the next iteration of the 36 route. Also be interesting to see how the 36 is once the new EV buses are on the route, hopefully they keep the high spec and the skylights!
@backpack-travels-uk yeah they have sky lights! I've been on the new one when it was shown for the first time at the harrogate bus event! I can't wait for them to enter service and I'll be riding them on the first day! Interior is very posh!
So then, as I can see that cow from my back room windows! And if you left Richmond's centre after 5 pm, did you go to Anwick on the Berwick road or Brampton in the Carlisle direction? Thanks for the Video, I look forward to the next one. PS my Senior Bus pass has been to Land's End twice and Berwick only once as it's only 3 buses away.
Haha, eagle eyed! Sadly not over to Carlisle as I don't think I'd have got there in time? But definitely would love to get up that way, maybe going through Peaks and then Manchester and then finally the Lakes - that route must be absolutely gorgeous, but would definitely be a multiple day trip.
@@backpack-travels-uk Hmm I would go with 17:16 X26 to Darlington, 18:15 7 to Durham, 19:30 or 19:37 to Newcastle and lastly the 21:05 685 to Carlisle arr 23:14! Last month I could have got from home to Exeter with only one overnight stop in Northampton. Except as I was travelling on a Friday, I stayed in Tiverton instead!!
Wow, I didn't see the 685 bus... that's a mammoth of a route, I bet that's a good journey. Although looking at bustimes.org it looks like they chuck some rather unsuitable local single deckers on the route, that'll be an uncomfortable journey!
Thank you! Actually doing a mini one up to Manchester, but not going to be a proper challenge as taking the better half so we're stopping at many little antique shops on the way so we'll "only" get to Manchester.
Its amazing how crap the buses are in North Yorkshire....I guess its because there is a half decent train service between the main towns, but most buses are incredibly slow and indirect, and infrequent. Pretty though if you are a patient mood!
Thank you for watching and commenting! Yes, it's such a shame and it's probably why the 36 bus route does so well as there is no competing train service.
@@backpack-travels-uk Well, there are still trains between Leeds and Harrogate, but the Harrogate to Ripon line was a victim of Beeching, and the Ripon bypass was built on the line of the railway. N Yorks CC occasionally express the desire to rebuild the line to Ripon and onto the ECML via Thirsk or Northallerton, but I suspect this is mostly fantasy.
I did not know this, was a lovely little town too, much nicer than the London variant, although Richmond in London does have that lovely park... But still! Yeah, you're right, that back seat did not give a comfortable experience!
I'll put my money on MORPETH; I think you could do that before its too late for a B&B; I can't wait to watch it; It could be N/cle. Whitley Bay( The Seaside) Ashington/Newbiggin( not advisable) ; I wonder if you had chosen to go via Whitby, Middlesbrough to Newcastle I wonder if you could have travelled further; Not so sure though; I do think MORPETH would be your point furthest North; Then the nest day you could get to Berwick; Take the Galashiels Bus then onto Carlisle; And work your way south back to your home down THE WEST COAST; Would be interesting eh;
Hi, thank you for the feedback, these were just the default timings on the editing software I use, but I can certainly look to leave them up longer going forward! :) I wasn't aware that Americans were known for their quick caption reading? ;)

Really good video. I am thinking you will get as far as Newcastle, where you will stay the night. Then, you will get the train back home the next day.

I would love to see a West Coast version of this possibly up through Manchester if possible?
Thank you!

Richmond, North Yorkshire is the original one!
Should never ride on the back seat if you want a comfortable ride

I'll just say, where I end up is definitely one of the options you threw out ;)
You were lucky you got the 36 you did - the section to Ripon is not every 10 mins
You will have to go back to 1980 to get a bus from my village thanks thatcher
That's rubbish, guessing no train either thanks to Beeching?
Never had a train did have a bus before thatcher sold it off to private companies
Not only Yorkshire Leicestershire Also
Thank you for watching! 👍
