- This is a model railroad build by Torbjörn Holmberg and Anders Bondesson.
Watch bonus film:
• BONUS - A day at the n...
It is a model of Swedish narrow gauge, track gauge 891 mm, the scale of 0 (1.45)which provides a model gauge of 19.8 mm. Which means that all tracks including the railroad switches are built by hand. Approximate year of the model is the end of the 1950s, with some deviation.
All the houses have their real role models from the Swedish countryside , preferably older buildings. Some of them we have measured and photographed and the rest has been built from the drawings that we have found.
Thank you to Fredrik Janson for your translation.
Filming and editing by Stefan Holmberg. Camera used is Panasonic DMC-GX80 and the lens Samyang 12mm 2.0
Stefan - I watch a lot of model railway videos, and seen plenty at shows too. So I know what I am looking at. Many models are well made, many videos are good, with sound effects, realistic scenery and lovely trains... but your beautiful model with extra CGI effects of smoke and even moving tiny figures (!) is amazing. I have never seen anything as polished or professional as this. Well done - truly remarkable.
Wonderful ! It's hard to tell if the locos and rolling stock are 'full-size narrow guage' or miniature models. The surrounding scenery adds to the dilemma. Some of the 'humans' - and the animals are very real with the help of some CGI trickery. Amazing layout, filming and editing. This video gets FIVE STARS from me.
I never use to comment on others work. But I must say this is the best film taken on ANY model railroad ever!! Very good job on camera, light, force perspective etc.
Just amazing how you bring this to live. Beautiful layout, very good filmed and actually stunning special effects making it a real world
"This is Art". Both model and the filming.
Bumpa Berra Thank You :-)
This is clever and VERY entertaining !!
Brilliant. What more is there to say?
Such deep focus is very unusual. The Lumix wide angle lens and plenty of light makes it perfect. And the linking of each sound recording to the passing train (or linking the train to the recorded sound?) is magical, not forgetting the 'greenscreen' shots of the Inspector. Even the matted-in smoke, black when the loco labours and translucent when it has momentum . . . Thank you!
Ror Thank you for your kind words. Deep focus demands lot of light to work...
The opening scene (0:26 - 1:07) is absolutely spell-binding in it's realism. Trackside filming in 'real life' couldn't be any more convincing ... amazing models and scenery ! More please.
Martin Roberts Thank you! Nice to hear that you like it :-)
Very clever bits of inserted live action, the guy in the hat, the dogs and the cat. Very impressive.
Ian McFarlane - I've spotted the dogs, the rabbit, the giraffe, the guy with the bad back on the platform, the inspector with the ill-fitting jacket and one more human - the man standing by his car near an open length of track (level-crossing), but I'm darnned if I've seen the cat !!
Edit ... Just spotted cat on back of truck (11:01) !!!
And the smoke of the train, the chickens, the guy with the pipe, three diff. dogs and the cat on the truck
Forget the inspector!
That rabbit deserves an Oscar!
Beautiful. Gorgeous!
There's even a giraffe!
Wow! Well done! I've never seen better!
Thank You! Don’t miss the bonus scene and the behind the scene video.
Yes. Wow is exactly the right description. An entire new type of video for model railroads. I love it.
Gratulálok, csodálatos modellvasút, fantasztikus kisfilm!
I keep coming back to this video for the sheer beauty and realism of the layout - one of the best I have seen. But as farm-yard animals go, I do wonder about the giraffe ... and what about the rhino on the back of the truck ??!!
Nice one love the green screen effect
Who played the inspector ... was it you, Mr. Holmberg ?
Who gave this a thumbs down???? Are they blind and crazy???
absolutely wonderful, superb modelling, storytelling and filming. more please !
Beautifully done! I love the live-action inserts and sound effects. Best of all, though, is the near perfect DEPTH OF FIELD, which usually is the kiss of death in miniature shots you used to see in movies. WELL DONE!
Matt Brewster
Thank You! Lots of extra lights and a small aperture... :-)
Kanonkul film och jättefin anläggning. Vilket jobb ni lagt ner på filmen. Imponerande,
Not into this sort of thing but this caught my attention .WOOOOWWWWW CRAZY.....
A Truly Beautiful Job on all aspects!!! I Enjoyed every minute !! THANKS for Posting !!
Enjoyed the dogs …. and the giraffe chewing it’ cud … the inspector can go home now …
One of the most amazing things I've seen after Central Los Andes, an Argentinian shelf layout I've found thanks to YT suggested videos, like this one. The great world of model rairoads...
I think this is real, you are just pretending it's a model. Brilliant in every way.
WOW a combination of the real thing, a model and CGI. its very hard to tell which is which! Exelent, top marks.
Not just because of the giraffe.... this is a fantastic film.... well done and of course the model rail road is exceptional too!
I changed my thumbs up to a thumbs down due to the black smoke.
I have never ever seen such reality on any layout before.
Not only a great modeller but als a great video editor!
Wonderful model railroad. The scenery is beautiful and the filming is amazing. What is the size of the layout and how many switches are there? Thanks for sharing.
Now I have counted in the 4x7 meter large room.
7 standard switches and 19 narrow switches, all hand-built on site.
T
I wish I had these special effects skills! It really brings a model railway to life.

This is clever and VERY entertaining ...
Excellent great imagination!! Love the little real man!!
Imponerade film, bra hur du lagt så fint ljud till filmen och kul men herr Holm.
Computer generated?
No no 98% real!!
2:36 A human being..? How did you manage that?;-)
What is the scale?
Scale 0. 1:45
Yes very amazing special effects.
I liked the animation. Well done.
Wonderful!!! Congratulations!
Very clever indeed! I was looking round on one shot for the moving human figure and then realised I had missed the giraffe!
I had a wolf at first, he was going for the sheep but it didn’t look nice. Then it was empty in that corner, so a giraffe...
Väldigt fint vilket arbete ni har gjort
Fint MODELBYG Kompliment
Imponerande!
Just a tad creepy.
Wonderful.
Magnifique merci
Dupontarnas kvaddade 2CV? 😁
Stefan Holmberg haha ja jo det är en bra bit att åka i en sån där 😂
Beautiful! I'm going to guess that this layout is set in Belgium- right?
Hasslaröd is a small town in scania in the extreme south of Sweden.
@@kristianstrid6738 I guessed Belgium because in the beginning, the Citroen 2CV is a Belgian -built car. Note the trim on the rear wings- only Belgian 2CVs had that. Watching this again, it's the best layout I've ever seen!
@@lawrencelewis8105 Lawrence, I agree! There are some 2CV in Sweden too. Amazing car.
@@kristianstrid6738 A friend owns about 6 of them- I never know, he's always buying and selling them. I own two Traction Avants myself and am glad to see one on this layout.
That guy with the hat dosn't look real.
Pretty cool but I want to know what is on those papers that guy keeps pulling out of his briefcase. lol
@filthyphil1000 - He is Tore Holm, the inspector, so I guess the paperwork is his report. He's obviously unhappy about something !!
