If you haven't tried a CVT from Honda you need to before "hating" on it. It feels pretty good. I tried Nissans and holy hell it sucks. Honda knows how to use it correctly.

Honda cvts are basically almost tranditional automatics. Therefore Hondas cvt are little better than the others in the market. I totally agree. Go drive a Honda and you might like it.

I disagree. New reviewers voice is high pitched and occasionally grating and difficult to listen to. She doesn't present as a credible "car person." Perhaps TFL is appealing to the mid-30-50 female soccer mom target demographic by using her, but I don't think it was the best possible decision in this case.

ALTN8NRG I test drove one a month ago and agree about the handling, it is nice. It is also much quieter in the cabin than my 2011 CR-V. The rear styling is not the greatest, (kinda like the Ferrari Cali), but there again, you can't really see it when you're driving... We will be trading up very soon.

I understand that you ALWAYS complain about the CVT transmissions. But, for the everyday driver the're a great choice, not everyone needs the sporty feel of tradional transmission, and most of the people would prefer to sacrifice some of it for an extra fuel efficency.

  • @dlr213
    @dlr213 10 років тому +1

Respectfully, this review fails to even mention new Honda Sensing system, which includes Active Lane Keeping Assist, as well as the Active Collision Mitigation Braking System. These are firsts for the Honda Brand in the USA, and the first non-luxury brand to offer these sub-$34,000. Seems like a pretty serious oversight for TFL, which has been my favorite car review channel for 3+ years. Their Touring Model tester had all of these systems which should have been tested and demonstrated. Clearly they would have a huge impact on decision to buy. Please, TFL- keep up the great work you have always done on your thorough reviews. Also, on a completely unrelated note.. What happened to Roman and Nathan?

The CRV is a nice vehicle but it's a little too pedestrian for me. And I realize this is subjective but those wheels are horrible. They're way too busy and out of place on a car like this. It's like seeing someone with a 1989 Tahoe on 24" BBS gold wheels. It's clownish.

No AWD lock mode puts the AWD CRV to a handicap disadvantageous score. In order for the rear wheels to be driven the fronts must slip, and even a slight slip can be enough to turn into a big one. If all four wheels were driven properly then the fronts may not have slipped in the first place. Thus a manual AWD lock mode is essential and Honda should offer this immediately as a firmware upgrade to its AWD CRV 4th gen models from 2013 2014 and 2015. This can be easily be added on the current VSA on/off button (when off is selected the AWD lock mode would be activated up to 40km/hr, then VSA on will turn on).

2:00 She states her MPG during testing was only 22.5, which is considerably lower than the EPA rating.
5:36 She says she spent most of her time in Sport mode.
Of course your mileage is going to be less than expected; you're driving in a less fuel efficient mode.
As for the dual screens, most other companies put the "second screen" behind the steering wheel. It's not really part of the infotainment system; it's more for information like fuel economy, time, etc.

Thumbs up but some suggestion: when recommending other cars, do consider about total-cost-of-ownership (TCO) for 5 yr. To be specific, don't recommend any Jeep since it has high rate of failure, even for simple things like audio. If you check Australia Jeep, you can it is the top #1 complain car (due to failure). Certainly if you assumption is we change car yearly, and never get to 5 yr, but be realistic on the average buyer/owner

2:12 (off-road?) I drive my 2006 Toyota Corolla off-road, and it has only 6" of ground clearance. I go over hills where one of my rear wheels is way up in the air, totally off the ground, but that's okay, the weight of the engine out in front keeps the drive wheels down on the ground and that's what keeps the traction going. I don't have any problems off-roading a Corolla when going diagonally up and over hills as long as I get a good run at it so that the momentum is high enough to coast up and over the crest of the hill (while one of the rear wheels is in the air). When going up straight, and all wheels are on the ground, I can just crawl up and over, no problems, no momentum needed.

I agree that Honda should have offered engine upgrade options like the smaller Kia Sportage. It's not that far fetched since the 3.5L V6 powers it's cousin, the Acura RDX, but I guess Honda/Acura wanted to milk another $10000. Another option would be the 205 hp 2.5L 4 cyl engine in the Civic Si, retuned for more low end torque. As for the right side mirror "Lane-Watch" camera, it does take some getting use to, but I found it handy in avoiding run-ins with bicyclists speeding on the right side.

It seems like Honda is fully aware of all of the issues she brought up with the car, because they have fixed them all in the Acura RDX. It's pretty much the same car, but with a slushbox auto instead of a CVT. The last generation had a turbo, and the new one has a V-6. I guess if you really like this car, but don't like those issues, either spend the extra money for a new RDX or get a used one for about the same price.

Amme, you forgot to mention that after 1 year from the launch of the Subaru forester, surprise surprise Honda makes the CRV more and more like a forester, even copying the wheel black accent design, I compared both cars back to back and I can tell you that the forester drives better and sportier, including the CVT, it feel more connected, the suspensions feel solid over bumps, off road on deep sand there is only one winner: Forester. space inside was close but at the back of the driver forester is even bigger. I am not bashing the CRV it is a great car always been, I even own the MRV/Pilot amazing reliability. just wish my forester had a turbo :).

Not a very exciting design, but based on their sales I would say they have it honed down to just what many buyers are looking for. I do find it a bit ironic that the Honda has essentially become the soft luxo-liner of the segment while the Ford has become more of a sports car.

Lots comments and interests already, many loves and hates on the CRV styling, I believe it has a long lasting looking than the Rav4 or the CX5 that has the aggressive looking grille. The problem with CVT is the reliability, it is very scary for owners, it could be problematic down the road even with Honda, go search "Nissan CVT Problems" on UA-cam, It should be scared the heck of anyone who owns a CVT vehicle. I am current debating if I want to buy the CRV or go buy Rav4 or Cx5 that I do not like the styling but they have regular tranny. The CRV CVT and Forester CVT have more mid range accelerations than Rogue. Apparently CVT Accords do have vibration complaints. Also Hondas do not have active left side Blind Spot Detection, they come with a wide angle mirror with a vertical line that is very annoying, do not see anyone else complains or cares about about it, it simply makes your eyes fuzzy, They should get rid of it with an active sonar detection. They claim CVT improves MPG but in Canada the sticker indicates less MPG for city driving than last years 5SPD. The reason they want to give you CVT is cost saving to manufacture than real fuel saving and reliability and it is probably high maintenance. You will never get the MPG that any car manufacture claims just like tire tread life warranty

Yet again a Japanese company provides what the public want. It has room for two adults, 2 or 3 kids and a load of junk. The parent doesn't have to bend down to strap in the kids nor to load the shopping, and the transmission is seamless. It ticks all the boxes.

Honda has acknowledged there is a problem with the 2015 Honda CRV in their youtube video. I just talked to a Honda Case worker and she stated Honda is addressing the problem but has no resolution at this time and doesn't know at what point they are t resolving the problem.
To pay $30,000+ for a beautiful Honda CRV that vibrates/shakes and Honda not having come up with a solution is taking a gamble on buying this vehicle. Would Honda executives expect their wife to drive a 2015 Honda CRV that shakes/vibrates and just tell them it's the characteristic of the car and not a safety issue. Is this the new Honda standard?? Shame on Honda.
If you have a 2015 Honda CRV that shakes/vibrates please indicate the location it was manufactured. Example: Ontario, Canada/ Mexico/ Ohio...
Also, please indicate how Honda has responded to the vibration/shaking issue.
    Thank you.

Sorry Emm ... I can't holla for the mail slot sunroof... I am looking for larger sunroof like the forester or panoramic like the Sante Fe. ..............I have really got to find a new brand... Honda/Acura lost its edge about 10 to 15 years ago!!

Honda lost it's edge 10 years ago with technology. There engines always ran forever but there just starting to get back on track with the tech. Give it a couple years and they'll be back with the competition.

Huge wheels means expensive tires. Do you have to take those wheels?

I think so, I'm sure you could ask dealer to swap them out, we do it at the mazda dealership for the 6 and 3 because to Many complaints on a stiff ride so if they ask we do.

it is stupid to have larger tires then you need, looks nice when they come with, wait until you go replace the tires, extra money for bigger tires. 7 seat Rogue has no spare, comes with run flat tires, $100 extra per tire ouch and not all brands have run flat

No to CVT. I'd rather get a LE Plus FWD V6 Toyota Highlander over this, which is at a comparable price with a AWD CRV.

My god, where did she get that jacket and those horrible boots? I can only believe her tailor has a good sense of humor. I just purchased this vehicle and have been pleased with it's overall performance thus far, but I sincerely hope no one else sees this video as I will be viewed as a true nerd. I don't want to be associated with this imagine. This woman needs a make-up real soon. A man suit would be a good start.
