Oh my, I just fell in love with that fuzzy white polar bear sitting on a sled ornament 🤍 The fairies are adorable too! First instrument that popped into my head was a harp. I haven't made any furniture yet but other miniature artists have recommended basswood over balsa wood as it is sturdier and less likely to crack or split when you're cutting it. The chest is a wonderful addition and it makes perfect sense that the decorations be stored in the house. The panels and carved rose make it look very Tudor and watercolor paper works great for more delicate details. Really enjoyed watching the chest being born - thanks!
Thank you for all of your lovely feedback! I think I definitely need to try to make a harp! Thanks for the recommendation of basswood - it’s not a wood I had heard of but it has been mentioned a few times in the comments!
I've got a tudor house waiting to be built but I've got 2 others on the go a house/shop and a large house that was my 3 daughters when they were lil it's such fun doing them and making minis 🎉
I can’t wait to hear how your Tudor house goes when you start it! Your other two houses sound great. I have a second house waiting to be started. It’s three storey and I’m thinking that the bottom level may be a shop… I’ve just not decided what type of shop yet! What’s in your miniature shop?
@@thelittlemouseshouse my shop is called ( ladies that lunch) it's going to be a tea/coffee shop that sells things ladies love like handbags perfume and shoes mainly . I'm trying to get it finished but been very ill this last Yr. I'm hoping to film the big house and the tudor house in the future on you tube I did put a short on before I got my latest illness 🤒 it's not brilliant just a peek at me trying to get organised with my multiple craft supplies lol have a look if you want x
Ooo, thank you for letting me know. The first time I went to the York Doll’s House Fair, I found a random piece of plastic/metal that was in the ‘freebies’ bin… I think I might be able to turn it into a sword!
I have chickens, a cow and pig and piglets in 1:18th lol! From what I've seen the animals lived inside houses a lot but mine wont as theres the "big" house and the farmhouse which both belong to the Alchemist the farm is where domestic stuff is done but the "big house is where he lives and does experiments. What a lovely idea making a chest for the decorations. I measure furniture against my people and rooms rather than sticking strictly to scale, the character in my diorama is an alchemist/doctor and the fact he's practicing the alchemical arts puts it into "fantasy"(because its the next thing to wizardry!) and thus gives me room to play with scale a bit.
I love the narrative behind your houses! I wish I could see them! I’m not sure how I’ll make a chicken… but I think it will be a fun challenge, especially the feathers!
How charming! I love that little chest and your technique for making it look carved. So pretty! You mentioned musical instruments and the first thing that came to mind was a harp. I can imagine a lady sitting on a stool playing a little ballad. Hope you have a happy day!
I am in awe of your sketchbook/journal and videos and your motivation to keep up with them during the design andbuild process. I am renovationg a dollhouse into a gnome home and wanted to document the process with photos but I got through part of the disassembly before I remembered to take "before" photos. I had to reassemble it (using clear tape) for a photo shoot. I get so involved in the processes that I barely remember to take photos as I go along! Your attention to detail makes your work exceptional. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for such a lovely comment. I do wish I’d have photographed more of the doll’s house before I started. I suppose I didn’t realise how much it would change! I’ve slowed down a bit recently with making videos, but I’m hoping I’ll get back into it soon - I’ve just been so busy! Your gnome home sounds so much fun! What sort of things have you put into it?
I use grey mount board (dense cardboard) and 1.6mm plywood (available in A4 sheets / pack of 10) for most of my builds, both as reasonably easy to cut but fairly strong. Look forward to seeing more of your work
Ahh thank you for the suggestions! I hadn’t considered mount board. I also didn’t know that you could buy plywood in A4 sheets - thats really helpful, thank you. ☺️
Hello just found you I am starting making a house using a Lundy as the frame. I am going to practice by making up a miniature DIY kit first as it was them that set me off
@@deniseatkins9407 That sounds exciting! I have a second doll’s house to renovate when I’ve ‘finished’ my Tudor one…and I’m already planning some structural changes, including perhaps moving walls to make a bathroom!
Lovely solid looking piece of furniture nicely made! Re instruments, lute, recorder, flute, cittern (early guitar), viole (violin) to name a few. However, me favourite has to be the Hurdy Gurdy! 😊

I immediately thought of a lute or harp for a musical instrument.
Super - I think a harp is a great idea and I’ve added it to the to-do list. Thank you!
I love the rose on the chest. Clever how you made it appear carved! A great storage solution for the Christmas decorations! It fits right in.
Thank you! I think it’s nice that the Christmas decorations have their own place to live through the year! 😊

Bravo for the idea to use the cardstock as overlay. Great technique.
Thank you! I used the same technique on my miniature four poster bed too. 😊

Very clever, see you on your next crafting video maybe valentines mini's or menorah candles for Hanukkah.

Balsa wood can be too soft for many items.. Basswood is a good alternative as is obeche.

Maybe research a Coat of Arms to go on the wall, perhaps your surname. For instruments, a lute and pipe were the first to come to mind.

would a citrus tree be era-appropriate?
