Lift or torque. The binding basically acts as a coupling and the disc is the anchor for the center or king-pin. I have a 22-23 Jones Apollo that has the Now king-pin tech. I can’t stand the play in the surf-bushings. The black, stiffer bushing eliminates that play, but the function of the binding is still performed. Traditional bindings cause a torque at the disc to the straps and high-back. The smaller the disc, the more distance for the torquing. This is true in Burtons EST.
Seriously i have been through 3 different Now binding. I can’t tell the difference between skate tech and normal binding.. until you go back to normal binding after riding skate tech for a season.
I am a begginer- intermediate rider who loves park and hitting side jumps, but i also want an all mountain experience. What do you think i should get? I am leaning more towards the Now Pilot.
It's compressing the bushing so even in the very small change snow and ice somehow gets underneath, it will still work since the polyurethane will still compress.
Great(WISE) question. But even packed, the hinge/leverage point still allows for significantly more torque. Yet I’ve heard nothing about snow build up a year later..surely at times it can change the feel??
@@scottjobe Probably because they are super reactive. I am a big fan but only for pow. For groomers and the park I prefer something less responsive. What I noticed first time I tried them is that you need to lean considerably less while carving, so the chances of lose the edge decrease a lot, but it was a bit scary to me while playing and doing tricks. But for powder, I adore Now. Just try them, go ask yor local shop for a pair of test ones, for a couple of days, because maybe you'll hate them the first day, but once you get used to them, maybe you'll like them.

Best Bindings hands down
Wish there was a sliding adjustment for the kingpin, instead of the baseplate. Loosing the lateral stance adjustment sucks

Are they compatible with Burton Channel system?
Seem to be as there are pairs of holes on the base plate for mounting to Burton
Which NOW binding should I purchase for someone who’s a beginner that’s having a hard time initiating turns?
Get the IPO, I have those on my cruising board they are super soft super surfy
Alec Grace thanks!
Doesn’t the binding stop functioning the way you want when it gets back with ice and snow

I don’t know any pros who ride them. My dad rides them. He does ride pow and had his board fall off while on the chair 2 weeks ago.
