Good observation. I agree. The entire Allman "family" (all band members) just seem to be the coolest and nicest guys. I honestly go to Gregg Allman interviews/performances for inspiration.
beautiful song, lovely guitar, that may be Duane all the way through. Saw both bands in about 1971 in Santa Barbara. Actually to me Cowboy outshone the Brothers. Their first two albums are fantastically beautiful and magical. COWBOY!!!! And of course, the Allman Brothers have become one of the greatest bands ever. And I rank Duane number 2 as electric guitarist only behind Jimi Hendrix. My opinion, natch!
What a poetic song. It's better when Duane played slide on the original recording. You can hear Duane laugh at the beginning. Perfect name for Diane's daughter's book.
wow, thank you so much for capturing and sharing this. Well appreciated. TT on goldtop methinks... Hope they release the Moogis streams they had from this era, or if they did lmk lol.
I like it.All of it.Unless you have been playin fer a long time you got no idea when you criticize tempo or the slide,or other things you are not qualified to critique.
Is this video on slow, or were the guys just sleepy? My favorite song, the slowest I've ever heard it played. In a way, it's actually really hard to play this slow and still keep in time. But man! This is slow...
+GuitarUniverse2013 LOL,, no the video is not slow. This is being sung and played with the guy that wrote the song, Tommy Talton and Scott Boyer of Cowboy that were guests of the band that night. This is the original way and speed it was played at by this country group . Sit back on an easy chair. Put a cowboy hat on and just get into some chilled out country living and a county broken heart love song.
+illuminatedrose Hey Dark Thorn, I have forgotten more about this song and forgotten more about music, the A. Brothers, the guitar, and songwriting than you will ever figure out, yo - Besides, it was a joke. Get it? A fucking joke. Duh? Take yer cowboy hat and rearrange into yer posterior for me, and do it sideways, if you don't mind!
It was planned before who would take a solo and when, and Tommy was a guest for that song, so it is only fitting that he took the bigger solo. Happy holidays . It's all good and beautiful.
That's not Derek playing slide. Doesn't even sound like him. Watch the video you can clearly see it's not him. If your ears don't tell you your eyes should.
Your tone deaf & you pay no attention. Derek played no slide on this , These were the guys that played on the original recording & Scott B. wrote the song . Open your eyes & clean out your ears or just leave this site. What would you know of soul when you can't even tell who's playing here.
Tommy Talton is playing slide on the entire song. Long live Cowboy. One of the best bands to roll out of the Macon area in early 70's.
RIP Tommy Talton 12/28/23
RIP Scott Boyer .. such a great song .. thank you SO MUCH .. you will be missed but never forgotten
Love this song. Brings me to tears every time I hear it. ❤️😎
Great melody Great love song, always brings a tear to my eye & touches my heart. Thank you Scott & Duane RIP.
Derek Trucks is one of the best Guitar players in his Age. love you Derek R.I.P. Duane
Classy of Derek to lay back and let Talton play....
Good observation. I agree. The entire Allman "family" (all band members) just seem to be the coolest and nicest guys. I honestly go to Gregg Allman interviews/performances for inspiration.
It's respect & shows the class Derek & Warren have. Tommy does it just fine & would have done it on the original had Duane not .
R.I.P. Scott, Tommy. Duane...Thank you all for such a heartfelt song..🎹🎸🍑🍄

Absolutely soothing, Now I'll go and listen to the Gregg Allman Tour cd and listen to "time will take us" Cowboy is cool.

Man alive !! I would have loved to have been at this show !!
Gorgeous song. Can hear Duane on the Dobro.
and today Tommy Talton is reunited with Scott. 12/28 23
Outstanding! Just located the Boyer & Talton - Cowboy Reunion CD form 2010, music that simply stands the test of time.

I can't get enough of Derrick trucks
Jesus, that's fantastic. Fine slide playing.
Would have loved to hear Derek Trucks’ interpretation of this song on the slide.
So long Scott Boyer RIP :(
Oh no. Another great one gone. :-(
This tune is on the Duane Allman Anthology album.
lovely, lovely, lovely!!!!!!

I know nothing except for my ears and mind listening to music. This is a song for the ages. Saw Cowboy with GAT in 74. Great version I agree

@@GuitarUniverse2013 a joke must first be funny to qualify as a joke... You failed.
RIP Scott Boyer...
I wonder if Talton is playing Duane's Goldtop on this one?
Why are they playing it so slow?
Holy crap man I can't play that song that slow-not without some slowdown medication anyway LOL
Boyer & TaltonのCowboy!
Does anybody have a tab of slide g., whats the tuning of slide guitar or something about it?
Open e or d is most common. Good place to start. If playing on electric guitar consider raising action or heavier strings
he seems to always play it too slow when performing "live" otherwise it was ok
In the end 'it' all comes out...I'm sure!!!...:)O(:...
@ebay9302 the great thing about opinions is they are just like assholes everybody has at least one.
Duane, Skydog
C
Tommy Talton didnt let derek take a solo he hogged all of the slide playing
TT a master. Did most of guitar work on Greggs Laid Back Album in 73!
It was planned before who would take a solo and when, and Tommy was a guest for that song, so it is only fitting that he took the bigger solo. Happy holidays . It's all good and beautiful.
I don't see any hogging, just a group of gracious, talented musicians doing what is right for the song.

Is jive a codeword for stupid?
This song aint ment to be done with solid guitars or drums Sounded like crap.
what horrible slide play by Derek....no soul...
Not Derek but TT
He is very good. Did guitar work on Greggs Laid Back Album in 73!

@@robthomson916 you can pick Derek Trucks out of ANY song once you know his sound. It's got that unmistakable Indian twang that he's so influenced by
