This is why my SO is a fan of araki's artwork despite never having ever watched/read jojo. But don't worry. Bram stoker is the perfect hook to get them to sink their teeth into jojo
the most hilarious thing about Araki's style is that if you remove the sheer amount of lines, you do inevitably get a regular ish looking teenager or young adult underneath
God cares a lot about u so turn to Jesus Christ, Because He is the only God and the only way to Heaven. Repent now and read the KJV Bible. He wants you to join Him in His Kingdom of Heaven.

Araki went to Italy and other famous museums and became mesmerized by how the statues were captured and their movements/poses were perfected and he wanted to incorporate that in his style. So you were really accurate in your analysis dd 😁
I feel an aspect you could’ve mentioned is that it can be good to find a specific art style from araki that they want to emulate before ever even drawing. Arakis art evolution is far more noticeable and drastic that what people mean when they say “jojo artstyle” can vary drastically. Some are thinking of part 3, some a part specifically from the anime (which isn’t araki’s artstyle at all but you get it) some parts 7/8, some specifically 6 for some reason etc. You did a good job covering the general stuff that someone would need to know across all parts. But i feel like some people wouldn’t quite understand that and be frustrated when their piece doesn’t quite match the style they weren’t even aware they were aiming for.
i mean, you're right and i get what you mean. but the point of these videos are they are supposed to be short and brief, if i did what you said, it be like 40 mins to an hour long. I definitely should've said something at the start f the video really quick, so i guess thats my bad on that.
@@ddmarkk ye, I don’t blame you for it or anything. I’m an artist too, so when i saw this video, i pretty much immediately understood what this video was about and what the intent was. I’m more directing this at a group of people who’d watch this and get unreasonably upset that they’re art wouldn’t wind up resembling the part 5 anime or something like they wanted. It sounds weird, but I’ve definitely seen people get like that towards people who make artstyle tutorial videos. Its honestly rude to direct that hate towards the creator like that. But on the other hand, not everyone is an artist like us, so i get how not everyone will inherently understand why they’re art doesn’t immediately resemble the part 3 manga or something lol.
I never thought of his style as mannequin or statuesque because the poses are so flamoyant and full of energy. I think of male models or just the idea of a model walking as overtly as possible and the images are screenshots of that walk. I always imagined his art was just a single camera shot of a full motion so it was always meant to be read as an object in motion. A statue or a mannequin is based off of a male model but it's designed to be static. I would draw more in the energy of the intention that the character is moving an instant after the image. So to DD, to the version you made, picture a zoolander flamboyant level male model pointing at something or doing any gesture, capturing that flamboyant gestural energy is the style itself. The way he poses things is the actual art style that you can see evolve from season 1 on. Especially with how Dio moves.
He references Michelangelos statues and paintings for the faces and anatomy - and these are already very lively, far from static. And then the more glamorous posing comes from referencing high fashion photoshoots.
DD Markk, you are an incredibly underrated content creator. I love your videos and you have inspired me to start my own manga. Thank you for putting all this amazing content out there for us! Much love from Bulgaria♥️🇧🇬
awwww thank you sooo muchhhh! im so glad i could inspire you or anyone for that matter. i really appreciate the kind words, good luck to you on your journey yo! ♥️
i feel like the simplicity of his style, being able to express so much in a pose with such little lines is what makes jojo mangas great. felt like ur drawings missed that aswell as stands but other than that great work
Kishimoto? I dont think you need it it's all basic he uses plain blacks a lot and uses only parallel hatching, one thing notable about his artstyle is just the way he draws eyes the lines on eyes don't fully connect.
The anatomy comment about statues is very accurate, as he was inspired to make jojo after visiting Italy and Italy's museums, he loved the western statues and took lots of inspiration from them for his art style.
I love his art, btw I might sound crazy here, but his artstyle is just simple. If you look at his artstyle and some other manwha artist, it's not much different its basic, it's basic Korean style, their are many channels that cover that art style
For anybody curious there is a video on youtube by JOECMDDRAWZ where he goes into a bit more detail on the facial features with differences between seasons(btw great video helped open my eyes a bit more)
You came pretty close but there are two things I noticed that could use improvement! I've noticed that the artstyle, additionally, also rests on the eyes and the lines inside the drawing! The eyes have a kind of 3- line structure in the upper eyelid and usually an arc as the lower eyelid! And most of the time, the lines that are basically the silhouette of the body are thick, the lines inside the body are mostly thinner! Hope this helps!
HAHAHA MY BELOVED PAIN, THANK YOU SO MUCH! AND I DUNNO IF OPM WILL BE THE NEXT ONE IN THIS SERIES BUT ITS DEFINITELY GONNA HAPPEN AT SOME POINT IN THE FUTURE

thank you so much! i never used a book to learn so i can't, with confidence, recommend any. i will say, when it comes to drawing in an anime style, just copy your fav artstyles. watch my artstyle videos, they should help! :)
I wanna see you try too draw the kaiba style or styles like that one(astro boy for exemple). I think it would be fun to see you draw in a style so far of your own.
nice video could you try in the next video to draw like Atsushi Ohkubo. artists of sould eater or even Koyoharu Gotouge artists of demon slayer ooo or if you rally want a challenge try to draw like Keisuke Itagaki. artists of baki manga please
Aw I was kinda hoping to see one of arakis later art-styles 😅 regardless it was pretty well done but if you were to use the part 3 art-style and the ones before that the men are drawn much bigger and more muscular than the other parts and they always have huge shoulders and chests
i dunno about next week, cause i try to space out these videos in this series, but for sure yuki tabata and the artist for yuGiOh have been on my list so its only a matter of time. thanks for the recommendations tho :)
JoJo, eh? Well....it was going to happen eventually, I suppose. =P Can you imagine artists trying to analyze DD Mark's art style in the future? They be like "Ah, so this guy. THIS guy right here? Yeah, he's got a little bit of EVERYBODY in his art DNA." =P
It makes a lot of sense that Araki sensei's style is very statuesque. He talks about studying marble statues in his book.
wow! really?! i guess i hit the nail on the head with that one!
There’s a video of Araki drawing and he’s using references from books and they’re stuff like Roman statues etc

YES FINALLY I CAN DRAW BIG BULKY MEEEENNNN IN THE JOJO STYLE

In his book Manga in theory he does say he was inspired by statues in museums
OHHHHHHH!! That makes so much sense! wow i guess i was accurate on that
Oh new art style is approaching me
ive been studying arakis style for 2 years which basically means that throught this entire video i was screaming. THE EYES THE EYES!!!!!!!

Great video Markk! Now I can't wait to watch you dissect Akira Toriyama's style!
Keep up the series!
"the style for the back round is very STANDard" is that a jojo reference.
love the video by the way.
araki is one of those artists that manages to get away from his lack of fundamentals by pure sheer style.
The style you used looks sort of like an in between of parts 3 and 4 for the anime
Which I love
I think you hit the art style from Jojo pretty good
thank you so much! :)
i'm suprised that mark didn't mentioned how araki's style evolved over the years or how he uses colour pallete to show emotions of scenery
