Ha! I remember suggesting in a previous comment you should advertise male grooming products as we spend so much time looking at your head and shoulders
@@tomdriver4866 😂
Funny thing is, I have a barber shop and have been looking at different products to stock! The high peak discount code has come in handy to let me try out a brand I haven’t tried before, so thank you for the entertainment and for potentially introducing me to a new supplier to partner with!!
I'd happily support a Sheffield company but I've hardly got any hair left so I benefit from zero maintenance - apart from a quick run over with the clippers every couple of weeks 😂
Code can only be used once ! After that it is invalid.
You owe us a trip in the 7 series now don’t you
I know! I might go to see the blackpool tower instead
I second that! I’d be curious to see what mpg could be achieved with that 730d.
@@HighPeakAutos 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@HighPeakAutos good idea, go there and say something in french, that would do ;-)
Nice finishing touch, matt.
I own a 7 series 730d and thought what a great idea and figured you might have a better opinion of it after a long trip which is what I bought mine for. So yes you still owe us a 7 series road trip...
I was looking forward to the 7 series trip - what makes you thing it would not have been reliable. Great engines and so relaxing…..😊
"what makes you thing it would not have been reliable"
It's a BMW bro. Nice car but reliable they sure the hell ain't.
@chris jones I wasn't specifically targeting the engine
@@CathodeRayNipplez I drove to Barcelona & Paris & Bruges in my 525D back in 2015, never missed a beat!
@@wez130 One trip. Legendary. Mine is also good for that but then on the third or fourth...
@@CathodeRayNipplez for such a complicated car they are fairly reliable
Can’t believe you bottled out taking the 7 series🤷🏻…was looking forward to seeing how it fared. I took my 3 series diesel on a Paris road trip recently and it did brill on fuel 👍
One of my favourite UA-cam channels . Do more road trips to Europe if you can .
Thanks! I will :)
Quite the trip.
Back in 1989 when I was 18 I fancied some chips, so, I jumped in my Ford Escort 1.3L Y reg and drove from Bedfordshire to Sidmouth for some chips. I ate them by the sea, got back in the car and drove back to Bedfordshire. I went there because I went on holiday with my late mum. It felt good and the chips were nice too 😁
Those were the days when you could go from Bedfordshire to Devon in around 4 hours due to the lack of speed cameras and much much less traffic. These days its a 6 to 7 hour journey 🙄
Am I the only one who thinks the 7 series would have made it a more interesting video? Even not trying to do it on one tank.
Still enjoyed it, nice one Matt!
Same :/
Same here
same
It would get stuck in that hotel parking.
Same was looking forward to it.
Great video. I felt my blood pressure climbing upwards when you were in Paris. Reminded me of when I got lost in Lille about 20 years ago. Lovely tribute to Her Majesty - class.
You hit the nail on the head with “if you’ve got nice things you must have done something dodgy”. In the UK it’s like the system is bitter your successful and cannot imagine it was done legally.
Exactly
Whilst the officers cream off the top and act like the big I am
After the ending I have massive respect for you mat. I laid some flowers and paid my respects outside Buckingham Palace Saturday just after she passed away when I told my mates they just laughed at me and took the piss but just like you it was something that I felt like I had to do. 😢
You’ve got to ignore them. Be proud of yourself for making the Effort and paying respects. That’s one of the issues with people nowadays; nobody has any respect.
@@HighPeakAutos that’s exactly what I did payed my respects & proud for doing it. I am ever even proud to say i even shed a tear walking back to my car. Does not make you less of a man or a woman to show you care or show your feelings.
@@anthonywhite721 I agree. As I was waiting in traffic driving into London I was having second thoughts. I thought, “is this sycophantic? What’s the point? She won’t even know I’ve been”.Then I was thinking, “am I being overly sentimental for going out of my way like this?” But no, I came to my senses and decided it was the least I could do to say thank you to somebody has served their country their whole life. Glad I did and I’m not ashamed of it at all.
Nothing wrong with it at all, it's called respect and decency. It's been like loosing a family member, I'm ex Fire Service, not afraid to admit that I cried when I heard of HMQ's passing.
That shot of you walking up to the Benz in the dark was straight out of a Bond movie! Really enjoyed this video.
Haha thanks!
Animal sound 😎😎😎😎👍🍀
.
Fantastic video Matt and a super touching end. Thank you for taking us with you. all the very best.
Still keen to see the 7 series; Luxury road trip for those on a budget with possibilities of disaster. Gotta be done.
Superb touch at the end too Matt. Elegantly done.
Can’t believe it’s been 4 years since the rav 4 Manchester to Malaga vid, I remember it like it was yesterday! Great vid Matt as always, the only channel I watch on UA-cam, always brightens up my weekend. AMG GT proving to be a proper grand tourer, and lovely tribute at the end, cheers
Well done Matt, great road trip with a touch of class at the end. Keep at it Buddy 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Excellent video with a brilliant, respectful ending. Thankyou.
Great video Matt and you're a braver man than I am for driving such a nice car through Paris.
Nice touch at the end, fitting tribute.
livin the dream mate, well done you worked hard to get there, been watching since the Rav4 was on the eurotrip!
Thanks!
Aah yes. I remember the Rav4 in Spain.
This video is some of your best work to date Matt. Well done! 🍸
Really top video matt.
Keep 'em coming.
Really enjoyed how you edited this video, perfectly paced and the last few minutes really made for a fitting end... Nice work Matt
Thanks!
Enjoyed the vid.. was looking forward to seeing what the 7 series would have done mpg wise. Awesome vid as always Matt..
I'll have to take that on a trip and see
What a thoughtful gesture at the end. Really enjoy all of your work, thanks very much.
Thanks! It added a few hours onto my journey but the least I could do
Great video. Well done Matt….Top stuff as always and nice detour at the end mate
Great video Matt. I have to admit I was looking forward to seeing how the big BMW went but that AMG……..spectacular!! Really loved the ending. Very dignified and respectful. Love your hard work and content, thank you 👏🍻
Your a good man Matt, excellent video as always & lovely touch to the end of the video as well.
Thanks! I appreciate it
Great video Matt and a very nice touch at the end.
A really really enjoyable & great video, well done look forward to another Roadtrip type one again in future
Thanks! I've got another one planned soon
Great video once again. I'm glad you are doing Road trips!
More to come!
@@HighPeakAutos lovely tribute to the Queen
I thought the BMW can easily do 1000 on a tank and then I realised you’re talking miles, not kilometres. That’s more of a challenge.
A great video Matt. And a very nice ending too, fair play. Thank you once again 😊
Really enjoyed this vid Matt, lovely thoughtful ending as well. Respect 🙏
Very different content to your usual but very entertaining. Perfect ending to your video ❤️ look forward to your bmw trip lol
“What could possibly go”, the words spoken before every disaster in history
Haha exactly!
Beautiful vid, RIP, we will all remember her.
Fantastic video Matt. Really enjoyed it as, living in Germany, I used the Eurotunnel a lot (sometimes the ferry, but I agree that it's worth the extra to save time) and it was nice to see your experience. I imagine that annoying 50 mph limit is still there on the M20. You absolutely took the right car. More road trip videos would be great.
That was great Matt - really class at the end
Yeah, that is putting a smile on your face 😊
But you must definitely do a 7 series trip too!!
That's the plan!
Thanks as ever for the content, raw and real. Also the perfect way to end. She will be missed.
Yes she will. Very sad day
A wonderful wonderful video Matt in all respects. Thank you for sharing, I enjoyed every second. What a car 👍🏻
loving this channel mate, keep going!
as much as i love the AMG , I would've preferred to see the 7 series do the trip and not be click baited
It would’ve been click bait if I had no intention of taking the 7 but that wasn’t the case.
Some might describe this as click bait
Well done. Appreciated the ending also.
Your experience with that van pulling out from the side road in Paris is probably the mad concept in France of “priorité à droite” at junctions that don’t have give way (cedez le passage) signs. It means the vehicle on the right has priority even if the road on the right is what appears to be a side road. They even have this on some roundabouts which is even more exciting!
I’ve read this three times and still don’t understand it!
@@simonstock2526 What he means is there is still in some mainland European countries (not just France), an old rule where the vehicle joining the junction from the right has the right of way, even if you're already on the roundabout or main road. Keeps you on your toes 😄
Look into their eyes and work out their intentions. Helps to have been a biker
question about your range rover: have you tried putting your rear seats down and been able to sit in your normal position. my l405 autobiography with the executive seats makes me sit so far forward with all the seats flat
I've never sat back there so I cant help I'm afraid
Nice touch at the end there Matt, thank you
Really nice touch at the end Matt, well done. Great video by the way.
Thanks!
I used to travel across the continent, to Hungary every summer, even in the winter once or twice. We stopped in Paris and other places for a few days and I always thought that the ideal car to do this journey is something in the range of a 5/7 series BMW, E or S-Class/CLS, an A8, XJ or maybe a CL. Your LS would have been also a fine car, but people driving those never leave the country by car. I drove a few 3 series and C-Class across, but you need plenty o refinement and long/wide chassis to make long journeys comfortable. Also, driving around the Arc de Triomphe in a RHD car (or generally in Paris) that costs a small fortune is not fun. I spent a few months in France when I mainly drove a VW Caravelle, a gen 1 Range Rover and occasionally, a Daimler. The French love the latters. Maybe avoid the Range Rover in Paris, unless prepared for hitting scooters or having extensive dent removal and crash repair.
My last few cars were mainly E-Class estates and I’d say, that is a good enough car to do continental journeys even better than it is a good enough car to do the shopping. An E350 CDI estate would be a marginally less dynamic car on this journey than any sports car. May as well, you could head south and make it a GT road trip! If you are travelling in the winter, take an Quattro or Allroad, A6 or A8. I was genuinely looking forward to see the 730d on that journey.
A dynamic car doesnt really help you on trips like that. Had a E63 S, but now with the S213 E220D im reaching way higher average speeds. Even in germany you dont need more than 200hp.
@@heinrichschmitz8964 200bhp is just about or below the range of the six cylinder diesel versions of the cars I listed. I’d say that on the autobahn, you may notice the extra power on high speed cruising, purely by lower revs and less noise. Overall, though, I would not enjoy a long road trip more in a GT, SL or 911 than in a six-cylinder German executive.
the ending was surprisingly moving. none of us really knew her but she she was part of our lives
Enjoying these road trips Matt.
Great vid and lovely touch at the end 👌
Thanks
Great video Matt and no doubt quite an expensive trip!... Loved your respectful ending
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
And so say all of us who have served in HM Forces myself included we salute you Ma'am!!
Well done. RIP.
Fantastic video Matt, love the road trip and lovely touching tribute at the end 🙏
Great road trip, really enjoyed watching it, the tribute at the end was pure class!
Thanks 🇬🇧
A Royalist. Great ending Matt. Respect!
Thanks. Its been a very sad period.
great video Matthew , please do more of these and add more footage of the driving, great experience
Thanks, will do!
I’m so glad you binned the BM off and took the AMG! I was stationed in Germany for 12 years and started off with the ferries but then started using the tunnel as it helped with the time to pop home for the weekend. I remember us getting stopped at French customs after we’d been on exercise in Canada for a month. We’d flown home and jumped straight in the car to go on leave. Well our dirty washing from Canada was in the boot and the customs officer was keen to look inside, my mate said you don’t want to do that which egged him on to look and as the zip was yanked open on the bag his face as the aroma hit him and his urges to be sick had us both laughing our heads off! Good times!
Nice video. Greetings from out of Holland. Enjoy your 7 series. Beautiful car! 👌🏻
I've missed this car on your channel. It's beautiful. If you found it hard to park the GT in the car park, I'd imagine that it'd be even more difficult in the 7 series given that it's considerably longer.
Lovely tribute at the end, too.
Thanks!
Yes Matt. Road trips? Now we're talking!
More to come
@@HighPeakAutos 👏also love the ending. Very thoughtful and respectful. Love that
Every now and then you break everything up with something totally random and real. Great video!
Great vlog as normal and I've actually used that promo code on the hair products and got over £7 off my order , thankyou .
A proper road trip which was so relatable Matt. Enjoyed the trip with you. I am always impressed how you put these together alone (though I suspect Mum probably shot the ‘B’ roll…which was a nice touch). Thanks, classy ending too.
Thanks! It took a bit of effort
Been following you from Barcelona/Málaga since the beginning. So so happy to see how far you’ve come Matt. Good on you too for paying your respects in London. P.S ignore the customs questioning, from what it sounds like you just got someone who’s bitter with their life… I’m very used to it too when I travel, chin up and enjoy the fruits of your labour. Best, Will.
Thanks Will 😉
That was class, Matt - good work
Thanks!
A perfect car, a perfect vlog with a perfect ending, well done Matt..
Nobody wanted to see the merc. Everyone wanted to see the big 7.
I'll have to do it again perhaps
I usually do my euro trips in a V8 7 series!😂 although the last one, we bounced a 22 year old 206 through 10 countries before finishing in Gibraltar and heading home…..because we thought it would be funny
I know what you mean by the British border force, I think it’s a job requirement to hate your life in general before your allowed to be an immigration officer!
Even the German and Swiss aren’t that annoying👍🏼
Haha yes youre right
CLASSY. Nice touch at the end!
I just love your content, can’t even explain it!
4 years since that rav4 video ???
Unbelievable how time has flown 😮
I checked, it was 2019 :)
@@HighPeakAutos crazy.
I’m the same age as you and have been watching you since the early Skoda superb review days ;)
Just actually sold my perfectly maintained high mileage w211 e220 facelift diesel over the weekend :( 430k km, and in the family since new.
Too expensive to insure & run an old diesel these days, especially with a company car
Great video. A touching tribute at the end too. Would love to see a long trip in the 7 series when you feel you can trust it!!
Thanks! Will do!
Great video Matt, even better ending. Respect ❤
Another great video Matt. By far the Best car channel on utube. Keep making more.
Thanks!
Thought I was gonna be the only one dissapointed not to see you do the trip in the 730d😂
Thats the majority of us
I am absolutely LOVING this channel!!
I used to love Top Gear before it became a laddish free for all in the noughties. The consumer advice had largely disappeared and had been replaced by celebrity and toxic humour...... and that's why I love your channel Matt.
You give factual, honest advice and opinion; something that seemed to have disappeared for 20 odd years. Yeah OK there have been other UA-camrs during that time but you..... I dunno...... you have a depth of knowledge and a charisma that has got me hooked.
We're not all about Interviews with Jimmy Carr and dead prostitute jokes. Some of us want to know about cars and you have saved us!!
All hail the new King. King Matt!
.....erm...... I mean, great channel fella. Ahem....... Keep it up!
Hah thank you! I appreciate the support. Hopefully I’ll be here to stay
@@HighPeakAutos I really hope so!
The whole nighttime garage sequence was very cinematic. Loved the video
Great respect at the end , I truly respect you for doing that .
I felt it was something I had to do.
Was emotional actually, keep your vlogs coming, love watching them .
A female friend you say? Sounds suspiciously like a dirty weekend Matt. 😁😛😉👍
🤭
@@HighPeakAutos Busted. 🤣
You’re bloody hilarious and also the most relatable car reviewer here in my opinion…I also speak for the masses 😂
Thanks!
Mate that car is Beautiful , looks and sounds amazing 🤩 Nice touch at the end 🙏👑
Great video Matt!
Living life to the full...😊👍
I reckon 1000 miles on one tank in the 730 was ambitious anyways ! Still - nice to go a road trip, just for the sake of going a road trip. Also liked the detour at the end…very respectful.
I'm pleasantly delighted by the last minute change to the AMG GT instead of the 7'er! Top Gear Aston DB9 to Montecarlo vibes!
I remember that video
Thumbs up, especially with the thoughtful ending.
Really enjoyed this mate, Keep it up! 👌🏽🙌🏽
Thanks
First video I’ve had to dislike of yours, felt a bit clickbait, would have been a more interesting video if you had gone in the old 7 series. Even if it had broken down.
Yeah fair enough but I didnt have time to waste - as it turned out, the football match was cancelled and the filming the following week was pushed back so I could've taken my time in the 730d
Enjoyable video and a thoughfull end. Thank you Matt.
Thanks!
Entertaining video Matt and the ending was so fitting. Much respect.
Thanks!
Wasn’t expecting the ending Matt. Nice one. 🙏🏼
Now I can watch your videos for the story, not only the cars. Great Video, great Ending!
Thanks
Great video and touching tribute! Well done Matt!
Thanks
Another great video I especially liked the ending 👍🇦🇺🇬🇧
You caught me out there, forgot what had happened momentarily with the distraction of the video and suddenly felt a tear in my eyes again. Feel like I’ve just been on a road trip myself after watching this, I live in France part time and I’ve driven around Paris a lot, although I live in Lyon, and finally you were about twenty minutes from me. Anyway, another great video, and I hope you don’t lose anything on that 7!
Powerful, evocative end Matt - some things are simply more important; respect. On a lighter note I hope Paul doesn't sue you for libel! (that bit had me in stitches!). Yet another class video.
Was not expecting the end. That was such a beautiful tribute.
Great content as usual. Touching tribute at the end.
Glad you enjoyed it. It didnt know if it was in good taste to post it tonight or not but it seemed right.
Dude, this was awesome. i felt like i was doing the trip and it cheered me up big time. 😁
