I believe the Giant Bowser Hand pattern isn't random in their base game, but I get that it may not be simple to code it so that the level creator can choose where it does what attack (I have absolutely no coding knowledge)
In the base game it is indeed not fully randomized. It's still a prototype for now. The Bowser Hand might only end up being available in a story mode level which is planned or only in autoscroll stages. It might even not end up in the game.
I hope that some wacky 3D Land ennemies get added, they all have such a lovely charm (especially the spike one that jumps and flips over and exposes its weak derrière)

May sound a bit silly, but I'd recommend changing the color palette for the saw enemy (or I suppose the motor the saw itself is attached to?). Right now it makes me want to jump against it from below, with how similar it looks to the regular question block. Another suggestion (unless I'm misremembering and they have already been added) would be those plattforms from NSMB Wii/U, that move into one direction as long as you are standing on them, but return to their original spot while you are in the air or walking on something else. Being able to then attach those to tracks/rail tiles could be used to limit how far the plattforms can travel in one direction while you are on one. This way the plattforms would also be able to travel diagonally or in curves.
I have an idea: you should also have a sepperate editor that allows you to choose when the hand attacks and how as it isn't random in NSMBU. It could be like custom autoscroll. The random one still can be kept

Hey man, I know its a mario kart enemy but it would be cool if you added star thwomps, it would add more variety to fast paced maps and they wouldnt be as dark and dull.
That would be amazing imo. And to differentiate it from the Mario Kart one, it could be 100% invincible, with being able to stand on it only if you're also invincible. Though I wonder how it would work if it tries falling onto you/coming from the side. Maybe if you're invincible, it'll work like 3D World Thwomps, but like regular Thwomps if not.
This sounds like an insane amount of work to make especially if you'll have to make this four or more times so I think a cool idea could be to make different versions of mario himself not exactly power ups but just different versions of mario so if you gave him his newer color pallete he'd be able to use his newer moveset with like wall jumps and stuff

In my opinion you need to remove the max length of the skewers or at least make it a few screens long, I've always found this was a problem in SMM. Also for skewers (and burners) please make them timable! You could use 2 values from 1 to 10, which would stand for seconds, the first one when to start and the second one when to end, based on when the current area loads in
The rainbow block; This block is literally only used for decoration. The colors are Red, Orange, Yellow, Green(Lime), Light Blue, Dark Blue, Purple, Pink, White, and Black. Or you can choose rainbow more which switches through all of them smoothly! This may be hard to make, it's fine if you can't make this one.

Everything looks so promessing!!!! I love it. Something that bongs in my head is the timings in the attacks. They feel kinda slow, even tho most of them are not. When you feel it's time for the polish, try to focus on the feel too!
If you do add goal poles into the game, add a variation of the goal pole, which is secret poles. This can be pretty cool for super worlds or a challenge for the player.
I got a idea: You should make the hidden hole’s in smb wii, when you hop down the hole you go down there, not like pipes, you can put blocks over it soo it feels like you are walking on the ground, but you cannot place ground or one way’s above the entrance/exit, that’s leads to either a unobtainable secret, or a unfair softblock
i might have mentioned this before but i think it'd be a good idea to have some sort of 'pixel lock' for sprites rotating sprites look quite off because their edges don't line up spritework around them
4:10 I think the giant skewer idea is a good idea. I'd recommend just having it twice as big instead of three times as big. I can see more potential with that giant skewer instead of the one in the video.
Idea: Add the “freeze” effect that most mario games have when you get damaged, like when something touches you and the game plays the shrinking audio effect and everything, even the time clock freezes Edit: My reason for this suggestion is that it would make the game so more mario like imo, theres alot of great fangames out there that do everything perfectly but the lack of a damage delay time makes it feel so weird

Have you considered giving Bowser a set of reskin in today's design? Not just modern Bowser, but also classic King Koopa from the DIC cartoons. As a bonus, though we love redhead Peach in the old game, have you tried put in a blonde version if it works (more than a recolor)?

Like the idea but some of the features like the rotating spikes just don't fit the smb1 schematic. A two-frame sequence with the face being static would fit better.
Could you add Vines that transition the screen? Like a setting that you can add to vines that when it hits the ceiling, it moves you to a new screen? Those have been a thing since Mario Bros 1
Make enemy Interaction, so the crushing bowser hand can kill enemies, The Groll Can Kill Other enemies, the Big Groll Can Destroy the small Groll, and make some enemies damage bosses, so its like a mario maker game
I think it would be cool to have a stamp that says "Softlocked" or something like that, wo the creator can know if there is a mistake in the level, or maybe another stamp to use if you find a dev item or a dev exit

They not only bounce off of each other, they even do a tiny HOP. Please add that detail you forgot. Even in the example clip you showed, you could see that they hopped up a bit when hitting the wall

You can maybe add particles for the Bowser's Fist attack, it feels off to not see any particle when a block is broken

Technically, the skewer's are a variant of the crushers, because they BOTH originated from super Mario world.
