Hey smashy, For pom pom's shell sprites, you ad her behavier from SM3DL. If you don't know, In 3D land, pom pom doesn't have the teleporting ability and instead gets into her shell, fly above mario, and ground pound (in 3D land, pom pom also has a boomerang instead of the shuriken).
PomPom does go in her shell in Mario 3D Land, but instead of spinning around, she kinda floats in the air for a bit and slams down to try and hit the player, I'd recommend adding that
Maybe have 2 versions of Pom Pom, the one from 3DW and the one from 3DL that throws boomerangs and goes into her shell. Also could do the same for Boom Boom and add a variation which goes into his shell and turns invisible just like the 3DW one.
1:01 Ngl, it would be sick for Bowser to make a fire wall as an ability so you'll have to jump over it. And for the Pom Pom shell, you could make one of the clones turn into its shell form and chase Mario while he tries to jump on the real one. On the other hand though, you could just make her do the shell slam she does in 3D Land.
You could implement that one attack she uses in Super Mario 3D Land that happens every time you hit her, however, you could simply add it as an extra attack (since you already added transitions between her phases). 2 ideas I have: Rotating hills, being the ones in NSMB Wii, and Negitive blocks, which would delete parts of objects they overlap with. This could be used to hollow out certain parts of objects (like part of the hill!)
Fun Fact: To defeat the real pom pom in super mario bros. 8-bit would be the part of her head which has a green part and that her clones have them so it becomes more difficult to defeat her
i always wondered why the visuals looked a bit off in this demo compared to the actual game then i realized: there’s no shadows! i know its just a little thing, but i think adding them would really make everything pop
In general, i feel like all of the gimmivks should have some toggle feature. Like with the Dry Jr. shell fire, it would be cool so that it is usable in more varieties of situations.
I definitely agree, @MarioAndSonix! That would be an awesome idea! Maybe there can be a toggle for both Boom Boom and Pom Pom to switch their behaviors. For instance, there could be a toggle with Boom Boom to either keep his behaviors in Super Mario Bros. 3, or replicate his behaviors in New Super Mario Bros. U where he jumps around. There could even be an option to give him his behaviors in Super Mario 3D Land and 3D World, in which he spins around, goes invisible, clones himself, or creates a fire trail, etc. The same could apply with Pom Pom, where the player could choose to either keep her behaviors in Super Mario 3D World (where she teleports, clones herself and throws shurikens,) or change her behaviors to how it was in Super Mario 3D Land (where she jumps around and throws shurikens, trying to attack and crush the player with her shell when she gets hit.) Maybe there could also be similar options for each of the Koopalings, too!
I think it would be cool if Dry Junior's shell collapsed like other Dry Bones and instead of rolling, he'd just shoot projectiles such as fire or bones
In Super Mario 3D land for the 3DS whenever Pom Pom is hit, she goes into her shell and flys directly above Mario to fall down from above, trying to damage him. It would be cool if Pom Pom could have that feature if for example wings were put on her. You could also make her break brick blocks when she's crushing down in her shell, that would add a new interesting mechanic. If she is out of her shell she would jump like in SMM2 when she's throwing her shuriken and still teleport around if she doesn't get hit.

In 3d land, Pom-Pom goes into her shell when hit and attempts to float over Mario and kind of ground bound on to Mario, you can find it on yt if you don’t understand my scum description lol. With that shell sprite, I would be cool for Boom-Boom to have a shell attack as well, if you plan to have Bosses to have customizable move sets in the future anyways.
I think you should add a little knockback to the bosses, just like in SMM2, so the player cannot just tank it and skip the whole battle if it is, for example, a classic Bowser battle with the bridge and the axe lso, it would be absolutely great if you made a Bowser Jr variant wearing the mask that acts just like in NSMBDS, hiding in his shell when a player is above him and throwing koopa shells to attack him
I think what you could do is have Pom Pom's shell animation from her battle debut in 3D Land where she spins, and jumps in the air to try, and crush Mario while she's still inside her shell! :) That's the one move I wish that was kept from her 3D Land fight.
0:58 fun fact: the "reversed" Fireballs are actually regular fireballs, the fireballs Bowser uses in SMB1 are the reversed ones. At least that's what I heard (and that honestly makes sense)

I have an idea for once your ready to add themes Everyone wants a beach theme right? So why not split the beach and the water, top half us beach and bottom is water so we can block off the other if we don't want it, or keep it open the switch it without use of a pipe. Saves space and gives us a cool transition between the two!
I know when idea for pom poms shell in 6:51 It should be like her move sets from super Mario 3D land where if you hit her she will fly up and try to hit the player on the head.
@@mega6662 that is actually what I was referring to. I’m one of the people helping out with the project, and Smashy mentioned on his server that Dry Bowser and Dry Bowser Jr. are both going to be fire resistant.
I have a few boss suggestions for super smashy maker! Before i start i have a small suggestion as an option for (mini)mini-bosses. It'd be cool if you could set an option for certain bosses to 'die' after one hit, but instead of dying, they simply jump of screen, or in pom-pom's case, teleport away, like they're just retreating, and they'll come back to fight Mario again at the end of the stage. Here's the first boss suggestion: a mega wiggler. It would be green with orange spots, and an orange nose, resembling the wiggles from super Mario sunshine. Each segment would be the size of 4 tiles, and i think 6 segments would be fine for this boss. It would start out stomping across the screen at a slow pace, and one of it's segments would be red. You'd have to jump on the red segment to hurt it. Once you jump on the red segment you get bounced off towards the left or right, and it jumps up a bit, and stomps, causing Mario to get frozen if he doesn't jump. Then it moves on to phase two, where the red segment moves to a different spot, and the mega wiggler stomps around faster, and it's harder to dodge. Each time you stomp on it, it gets faster until the 3rd hit, where you get bounced off, and the wiggler explodes, making it's segments fly off screen, like dry bowsers shell! (the second boss will be posted later.)
I would like to see secret endings and a super world like smm2, but you can choose your own game style for the world, unlike smm2. I hope you are able to make this!
I feel like giving both Dry Bowsers a setting to only throw a lot of bones (say, a spread of three or four) would give them a lot more versatility for boss design, because you could easily have them out of bounds launching bones, or just use it to distinguish them more from their normal variants. also, Pom Pom's bowtie is not present on the clones (tbf no one notices that)
Two bugs I found intresting: That wall of fire "attack" bowser did is actually a really cool idea, if you could make some sort of wall of fire that you have to jump over that would be cool! Also when dry bowser was spinning the bone but didnt throw it, I thaught that was intentional, and he was twirling the bone to let you know hes about to throw it, it would also be cool if you could implement something like that. And if you think thats too much I had an idea where you can toggle which attacks each enemy has, so you can use that unused pom pom spinning sprite just as a toggleable attack, and creaters get even more options and customization to their levels and the enemys they put in them.
Pom-pom shell idea: she now has a final stage where there's now 5 shells coming directly for mario. Mario must stomp on the one with a slight bit of pom-poms face peeking out to finally finish off the boss. Stomping on any other one damages mario.
(question) is there going to be different themes or is it just going to be the super Mario bros game style? Maybe for a video you can make a whole new style. I understand that it will probably be hard and I'm totally fine with it in this style but it's just a suggestion

In Super Mario 3D Land, when Pom Pom goes in her shell, the shell flies above Mario, and slams down onto the ground, trying to smash him. Maybe you could implement that for Pom Pom’s shell!
Boss idea and more: Make a Donkey Kong boss that acts like the one in the arcade game. Randomly throw barrels in a random direction. The barrels bounce off walls. Give the ramp piece different skins, like a semisolid and make the support beams from Donkey Kong a skin. Make a semisolid with a perfectly black background.
how to implement the pompom shell: if mario hasn't jumped on pompom for so many secconds during the clone phase, they all go in their shells and shuffle possitions.
This game is looking really great so far! If there is one thing that i would suggest to add is fuzzies. Both the black and red variant. I think it would be a cool enemy and not too hard to add :)
@@lancerlancer2407 Because Fuzzy moves along a certain trajectory, along such "rails", similar to those in Mario Maker 2, but they are not in Smashy Maker.
I think that for Dry Bowser (and Dry Bowser Jr.) you should add some more bones falling when they die. Look at the dry bones from SMM2 after you kill them, and you’ll see what I mean. I also think Jr’s ground pound should make the screen shake, and a stun animation should be given to Mario.
Maybe the Pom Pom shell could be used as a secondary attack for when she gets hit once, and the attack is faster and more towards Mario’s location after she gets hit a second time.

Reznor Would be a cool boss to add to this game you would have to place the entire wheel with the long ? Blocks with Reznor on top each of them.

Crazy idea: You can add something that can be used in machines. Kinda like Minecraft redstone which will allow players to make insain things.
It would be cool for there to be the Mega Mushroom, Mini Mushroom, and the Blue Shell from NSMB1.

Pom-pom shell idea: she now has a final stage where there's now 5 shells coming directly for mario. Mario must stomp on the one with a slight bit of pom-poms face peeking out to finally finish off the boss. Stomping on any other one damages mario.
(question) is there going to be different themes or is it just going to be the super Mario bros game style? Maybe for a video you can make a whole new style. I understand that it will probably be hard and I'm totally fine with it in this style but it's just a suggestion
I think you should make cooler sprites for like bowser, bowser jr, boom boom, and the koopalings.
Add fury bowser mode, it could double as a baby bowser mode from Toshiba island, so they can basically shoot from the background

When pompom gets hit, unlike the third, she enters her shell and moves around like bowser Jr's shell. And eventually pops out of it and clones herself.

In Super Mario 3D Land, when Pom Pom goes in her shell, the shell flies above Mario, and slams down onto the ground, trying to smash him. Maybe you could implement that for Pom Pom’s shell!
Can you add Kamek as a boss next? He is my favorite character in the mario franchise and a really good boss.

Boss idea and more:
Make a Donkey Kong boss that acts like the one in the arcade game.
Randomly throw barrels in a random direction.
The barrels bounce off walls.
Give the ramp piece different skins, like a semisolid and make the support beams from Donkey Kong a skin.
Make a semisolid with a perfectly black background.
What if while in her shell, Pom Pom teleports to in front of Mario every time she misses for up to 3 times
Pompom could enter her shell after being hit like Bowser Jr and the koopalings. When she exits her shell she emedioutly uses her teleporting move.
In Super Mario 3D Land, Pom-Pom enters her shell and tries to stomp on Mario while in her shell. You can probably implement that.

Don't know how it would be implemented but what if bosses like the jester from 3d world or the Megaleg from galaxy would be cool big bosses

if mario hasn't jumped on pompom for so many secconds during the clone phase, they all go in their shells and shuffle possitions.
This game is looking really great so far! If there is one thing that i would suggest to add is fuzzies. Both the black and red variant. I think it would be a cool enemy and not too hard to add :)

@@lancerlancer2407 Because Fuzzy moves along a certain trajectory, along such "rails", similar to those in Mario Maker 2, but they are not in Smashy Maker.
@@Dr.Wolfram I see. You can either make them stationary or make the player draw a path for them like for the snakeblock.

I think that for Dry Bowser (and Dry Bowser Jr.) you should add some more bones falling when they die. Look at the dry bones from SMM2 after you kill them, and you’ll see what I mean.
I also think Jr’s ground pound should make the screen shake, and a stun animation should be given to Mario.
Maybe the Pom Pom shell could be used as a secondary attack for when she gets hit once, and the attack is faster and more towards Mario’s location after she gets hit a second time.
