We started our volunteering journey from the beautiful village of Turtuk, a small paradise located on the Indo-Pak border. This village was part of un-divided India until 1947, post which it became part of Gilgit - Baltistan or PoK. After the Bangladesh Liberation war of 1971, Turtuk along with 2 other villages, became part of the Indian territory.
Being a border village, for almost 40 years till 2010, this place was restricted for access by outsiders. But then it was opened up for tourism and since then it has become a popular destination for tourists visiting Nubra Valley in Ladakh.
We got lucky as we got to spend 6 months in this quaint village and we also had time to observe the lifestyle, listen to the stories, cover some hidden spots and much more during this period, things that are not known to the tourists and famous only amongst the locals.
In this video, we are going to walk through some of the famous tourists spots which you should absolutely plan to see when you are in Turtuk next.

Turtuk which draws its name from the Balti word - Duktuk - which translates to ek aisi jagah Jahan se Jane ka Mann na Kare. It is actually a very old and ancient village given it was a junction for trade and cultural exchange on the Silk Route given its location at the intersection of three big cities of the region; Leh, Kargil and Skardu.

Very nice video. Very informative. You guys are doing a great job in making aware the people of the other parts of the country about this region. Many , including me & my family, would want to visit these places after seeing such beautiful videos. Keep up the good work.
Thamk you so much!
Hi Ankita, Sudhanshu and Star, am a new subscriber and watched many of your videos today. Its so heartwarming to witness your journey. Am sure it will inspire many more of us to give back in our own small ways. We are a small family of three who have similar ideas - just returned from a two week volunteering trip from Uttarakhand teaching children in a tiny hamlet of Rudraprayag, and wish to pursue that as 'life's purpose'. Your story and videos are super inspiring. Keep sharing and keep spreading love. More power to you! Best wishes...
So glad to meet you sir! May all your plans and dreams come true!

Hello Mam, please reach out to us on Instagram @the.seekingsoul
why spread wrong info? before saying something please study the info. turtuk village did not become part pakistan in 1947. at that time maharaja hari singh was the ruler of entire jammu and kashmir state. pakistan was aggressor in 1948.
Could you plz change name as POK border. Not pakistan border if you are from india.
Its never be pakistan its POK
Yes yes
Thanks for sharing your perspective Sir.
@@TheSeekingSoul its our perpective .
It means you are saying POK as baltistan ?
If so then this video must be reported by every true indian.
Such youtubers we should not take lightly
@@sanjugalande Thanks for saying this! I have been noticing this in every video of Leh ladakh, virtually legitimising the occupation of POK. The naïveté and lack of seriousness in Indians is quite shocking and that too from people who purportedly teach in these sensitive areas. No wonder we have been invaded so many times. I suppose people get exactly what they deserve.
