Amazing!
Thats awesome man! Love the footage. I grew up in stone mountain in the 80s and 90s, but had to move bc crime got really bad. Hope the park and the city is doing well. It had a lot of potential and it was the best place when i was a kid, but the area, schools, and companies all went to shit around like 93-96.
Memorial drive is a killing ground.
Mountain industrial and the Tucker area stayed safe though.
Lots of good times on that hunk of gravel
Tucker high class of ‘84.
Skipping school doing a lap around cruising.
Impromptu frisbee throwing.
We picked a state and that was our meeting spot. If you know you know 😎.
Climbed the steep side one night at 2 in the morning. I can’t believe we did that!
I then went to work for Motorola and yep, had to service the radio equipment up there. That entails the privilege of driving up the softer side.
Yeah, memories 👍
Wow ❤
Nice job! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😍
Lovely video! What type of drone do you use for these shots?
New to drone world here, can you just go with your drone and take this shots at stone mointain?
How did you get permission ?
interesting....
josss
That’s cool but really sad. They use to keep the rock sculptures clean. Guess they don’t care anymore and want to get rid of it the only way they can.
I think we're lucky they haven't been destroyed. Its a large reminder of some ugly history that can be painful. But there is still a small child in me that has hundreds of memories of day trips and hikes and summer nights at the laser shows that will be broken hearted to see them go.
They clean the carving about every 3 years. That’s why it looks dirty right now. Was there a few weeks ago and it was pretty dirty. Hopefully a cleaning is due soon
@kelliethornton7986 March 1984 National Geographic special edition on lasers, there is a very cool picture of the laser show at Stone Mountain. Charge of the "light" brigade.
They power wash them every 10 years, started in 1985. If they still keep that schedule, 2025 will be the next cleaning.
@@DFWHoppeI hope so but with all the scrutiny lately, I bet it will have to come from private funding.
A monument to the losers. Lol
