i love the way the singer dances, you can tell he doesnt give a SHIT lol. thats what went wrong with music. everyone is being carefully and formulated now. this is raw uncut prime music.
I almost cried when i found this, 13 years ago, We used to play this cd everyday after school at my friends house. I loved those care free good ol days where it was all about hanging out with friends always laughing at everything going everywhere talking about who were crushing on and just living in the moment. Those were the best days of my life
This was my favorite album when I was in high school..I graduated 2003. I feel like I was the only one who loved them because no one else had heard of them. Super underrated, and they sound just as good in 2023, maybe better even.
Same here, I graduated in 2003 and have so many fond memories of driving around with my best friend, listening to this and Seein' Red over and over trying to spot our crushes out and about too-- back when you could afford to just cruise for hours doing nothing but enjoying your youth... damn I miss those days
man, I had a bootleg copy of Elva in high school, probably 13 years ago, Me and my friends used to stay up all night playing video games, burning, and this was the theme song!
wow.. I used to listen to them so much when this album came out. so much so that even all these years later, I still sang along to the entire first verse and chorus haha
I remember when I heard this debut on the radio and thought it was a Lost Prophets song. So glad I found out about these guys when I did. It's taken me 15 years to come back and revisit em.
I started blazing to this song when I was 16 years old and still occasionally blaze to this song 14 years later at 35 years old :-) its a great tune for blazing...
Remember being in 6th grade being taken to target right when elva came out, and barely knowing Unwritten Law besides California Sky from some BMX game on Ps1 and buying the album and playing it for a year straight. Great band.
We my fiancé and I met Scott Russo he was super chill and Scott said to me well I hope let you down. My Fiancé loved listening to Unwritten Law! Thank you Scott for an amazing show!
came here to reminiscence of when my wife and i met in 2003 and i played this album for her. Its been part of our life soundtrack since. Now im watching the video again in August 2020 and noticed Wade is wearing a mask. Dude was trying to warn us 18 years ago.
San Diego always represents! I’m so stoked I got to see them at small little dive spots growing up. A typical lineup for a bigger local show was blink 182, unwritten law, the offspring, and the vandals(and if we were lucky buck-o-nine too!)
Had this album with me on my 1st deployment to Iraq in 2004. Anytime I got really home sick I would put this on and remember all the awsome times back home. Seems so long ago.....
I first heard of Unwritten Law on Friday at the House of Blues. They played before The Expendables who I was there to see. I listened to them and I really liked their music. Now I'm hooked.
This song made me fall in love with Unwritten Law when I was 14. The thing I loved most was the acoustic solo in a damn heavy, yet catchy, song!! There's also lots of guitar parts on the entire Elva album that most people would not be able to pick out.
'Melyssa K' Kennedy it’s called a “Bridge” (part during the song that you liked) and it’s done with an acoustic sounding tone in his pedal. If you wanna be technical about it. But I knew why you meant. Sorry to correct you. I’ve got problems
They are just so damn good... They deserve more recognition! Got to meet Scott once after they played at a sunfest in South Florida back in high school still have the signed ticket stub from like 2004 or 2005!
Can we talk about automatic satisfaction Sittin' back relaxin' floored What's wrong with kickin' it When you're bored and lit Lets smoke some cigarettes And catch up on the back porch Fire up another roach We don't need a rest this is just a test 'cause we're alright, we're up all night To see the sun come up again now Just one more time no reason why To see the sun come up again. The more we try to change The more we stay the same We're caught up in the game and now Just like empty picture frames So now were to blame Said we were gettin' down, on henessey and fountain Smelled another mountain now If you ain't gettin' down, you'll come around And were alright, we're up all night To see the sun come up again now Just one more time, no reason why To see the sun come up again. So lets smoke some cigarettes And catch up on the back porch Fire up another roach We don't need a rest, it's just a test And as the world spins we'll watch it with a grin And look in as the day begins Well now it's on again, it's dawn again. Yeah! Yeah! And we're alright We're up all night To see the sun come up again now Just one more time, no reason why To see the sun come up again Yeah we're alright, yeah we're alright Yeah we're alright, up all night Yeah we're alright, yeah we're alright To see the sun come up again now!
No the lyrics are wrong. Genesee and manitou smoke another mountain. They street names in San Diego. Also the wiki is wrong, says they from north county but they from Claremont.
Another classic from an underrated band . I played this song and Cailin all the time. Takes me.back to high school days. Chillin' with friends, such good times. Class of 2001. Anyone from Southern California?
The thing i love about this song is with the guitarists, were given every variation of effort given. from no effort, to trying, to fucking killing it. love this song forever ❤
i was 15 my cousin was 18 and this is our second wind song at 2am drinking cheap gin sharing very little weed that looked like soil while playing nba 2k on the dreamcast and battle realms on pc friday and saturday nights until 6am.
Just so you're aware. This song is about their time touring with Grinspoon in Australia. They alude to this through-out the lyrics. "Look on with a grin as the band take the stage." Alluding to how the Grinners rock the stage. This is literally a homage which grinspoon pre-approved and told them to put on the album.
My god, I'm so happy I found this again after 21 years!!!!
i love the way the singer dances, you can tell he doesnt give a SHIT lol. thats what went wrong with music. everyone is being carefully and formulated now. this is raw uncut prime music.
If you met him, you would be pretty much correct. #Unwrittenlaw
Exactly 18 years have past and i'm still loving this song. Elva is one of the most beautiful albums i ever heard.
I remember, it's early 00s I'm on my boogie board looking out to the vast sea to thia.
I almost cried when i found this, 13 years ago, We used to play this cd everyday after school at my friends house. I loved those care free good ol days where it was all about hanging out with friends always laughing at everything going everywhere talking about who were crushing on and just living in the moment. bree, dont cry, the 90's are very much alive in the hearts and minds of people like us who resist changing for the worst and resent having to grow up.
:'D
Amen to that!!!
Don't forget playing MASH-O!
lol
Unwritten Law is soooo under rated...like if you are here in Jan 2020
May of 2020!
Yup, I'm 31 now tear
33
I’m one year too late.
I cannot understand why more people don't love this band.
Becouse our generation isnt into rock music anymore
Because people are dumb as hell.
Because no NFSU3
Andrea Taranenko they don't think outside the confines of shitty radio these days
Heavy punk
Not only does this song completely rule, but Scott's dancing is totally on point 😂👍🏻
What's with the weird arm dancing?
Weird arm dancing is weird.
Actually that's Chris Mussey
They were so underrated! I use to love Unwritten Law. Still listen to a lot of their music
This was my favorite album when I was in high school..I graduated 2003. I feel like I was the only one who loved them because no one else had heard of them. Super underrated, and they sound just as good in 2023, maybe better even.

High school, class of 2007. Here we are now. In our 30s, always remember that year fondly!
Lol 05 here
Take me back to this time when life was a lot more simple...
very underrated band
I love these dudes I been singing the hook in my head for years finally found them
Preach it
The acoustic album was great!!
I wish they could be more largely known!!!! Such good songs they have like this one!!!
Yeah, I can't believe denied has so few views on UA-cam
we were young, happy, and we did'nt know
Unwritten Law is soooo under rated...like if you are here in Jan 2019
I see your Jan 2019 and raise you October 2019
ohh yeah
Raise it to Nov 2019. 38 year old dad who remembers listening and loving This song as a college kid in 2003.
jan 2020 gud nuff?
I raise you 2020 February
early 2000's had the greatest bands and rock songs. no look at the shit music on the radio today
Nope greatest came from the 90's, Bands that actually impacted music and changed it
This is the anthem of my childhood.
Scott dances like such a dork, I love it!
man, I had a bootleg copy of Elva in high school, probably 13 years ago, Me and my friends used to stay up all night playing video games, burning, and this was the theme song!
wow.. I used to listen to them so much when this album came out. so much so that even all these years later, I still sang along to the entire first verse and chorus haha
This has to be one of the most addictive Poppy choruses in pop punk history.
Used to play this on bass all the time in highschool with my cover band, really underrated band
I remember when I heard this debut on the radio and thought it was a Lost Prophets song. So glad I found out about these guys when I did. It's taken me 15 years to come back and revisit em.
I toked it up in my back porch with my buddy yesterday jamming to this and we are in oir mid 40s
I started blazing to this song when I was 16 years old and still occasionally blaze to this song 14 years later at 35 years old :-) its a great tune for blazing...
Badass
Remember being in 6th grade being taken to target right when elva came out, and barely knowing Unwritten Law besides California Sky from some BMX game on Ps1 and buying the album and playing it for a year straight. Great band.
Just saw them in Seattle last night, they are as badass now as they were the first time I saw them in 1999!!!
one of the better live bands out there!
Just found the cd to this album in my cd book. Went down memory lane
20 Years later....still one of my favorite band :)
Whats wrong with kicking it when you're bored and lit?
This is such s dope album, classic now
Who remembers unwritten law playing at soma?
San Diego shit.
One of my favorite bands from my late teens up until now. I agree that they are vast underrated. This is my favorite song of theirs.
Wow…hadn’t thought about this song in forever. Now I feel really old.
I loved whenever this video came on MTV and had it on multiple mix CDs that were all titled stuff like “skate life #5”
Underrated band and album
Brings me back
Scott Russo is chill as can be.
I officially thank the movie "Grind " for helping me discover this band 10 years ago. Still 1 of my favourite albums as of 2019
What's your favorite song on it?
Unwritten Law kicks some major ass
I remember wanting that black guitar with the white trim SO bad when this video came out.
We my fiancé and I met Scott Russo he was super chill and Scott said to me well I hope let you down. My Fiancé loved listening to Unwritten Law! Thank you Scott for an amazing show!
We get to open for Unwritten Law in South Carolina in a week. I'm so stoked I'm gonna be running around and yelling the lyrics when they play ha!
came here to reminiscence of when my wife and i met in 2003 and i played this album for her. Its been part of our life soundtrack since. Now im watching the video again in August 2020 and noticed Wade is wearing a mask. Dude was trying to warn us 18 years ago.

This song brings back some fun as memories god I miss the ol party days
Here in 2021 still jamming the good stuff
Had this album with me on my 1st deployment to Iraq in 2004. Anytime I got really home sick I would put this on and remember all the awsome times back home. Seems so long ago.....
Bruh.... ya it does
Brings me back to when i was a teen.
Great drummer
The drummer was way ahead of his time…..imagine being covid conscious back then. Wow.
Can't believe it's been nearly 20 years!
Saw these guys at Hallam Hotel, Victoria Australia, 1999-200 Lost the t-shirt now but miss This shit here 🤘💚
Drummer in quarantine mode!
Seein Red was a jam but, this is my favorite by UL.
The drummer was a ahead of the time . Like if you are in quarantine
I like how Scott dance. He's so funny.
I first heard of Unwritten Law on Friday at the House of Blues. They played before The Expendables who I was there to see. I listened to them and I really liked their music. Now I'm hooked.
great song
yes, person who commented 10 years ago, it hurts that he does not have the recognition he deserves today
@@marte9906 Agreed
They were trailblazers for so many bands that came after
Anyone else still getting down on Genesee and Fountain?
the good old times! from Argentina!
This song made me fall in love with Unwritten Law when I was 14. The thing I loved most was the acoustic solo in a damn heavy, yet catchy, song!! There's also lots of guitar parts on the entire Elva album that most people would not be able to pick out.

I'll listen to this till the day i die!!??
So underrated
Finally a video where the drummer gets as much video time as everyone else
Can we talk about automatic satisfaction
Sittin' back relaxin' floored
What's wrong with kickin' it
When you're bored and lit
Lets smoke some cigarettes
And catch up on the back porch
Fire up another roach
We don't need a rest this is just a test
'cause we're alright, we're up all night
To see the sun come up again now
Just one more time no reason why
To see the sun come up again.
The more we try to change
The more we stay the same
We're caught up in the game and now
Just like empty picture frames
So now were to blame
Said we were gettin' down, on henessey and fountain
Smelled another mountain now
If you ain't gettin' down, you'll come around
And were alright, we're up all night
To see the sun come up again now
Just one more time, no reason why
To see the sun come up again.
So lets smoke some cigarettes
And catch up on the back porch
Fire up another roach
We don't need a rest, it's just a test
And as the world spins we'll watch it with a grin
And look in as the day begins
Well now it's on again, it's dawn again.
Yeah! Yeah!
And we're alright
We're up all night
To see the sun come up again now
Just one more time, no reason why
To see the sun come up again
Yeah we're alright, yeah we're alright
Yeah we're alright, up all night
Yeah we're alright, yeah we're alright
To see the sun come up again now!
No the lyrics are wrong. Genesee and manitou smoke another mountain.
They street names in San Diego. Also the wiki is wrong, says they from north county but they from Claremont.
Who is still here in September 2019 remembering high school?
These guys sound awesome
HELLLLLLLL YEAHHHH. these guys NEVER LOSE THEIR EDGE. EVER!!!☠️☠️☠️☠️
Still a bop
Reminds so much of when I was young. Fuuuuck if only there were time machines
God I love this band, when will we have a full new album of material? It's been 10 years since Swan lol
It's out now. 🤫😁
They're touring the new album in Australia soon if not already started
This is their best song in their arsenal ..!!
if i ever see this guy wave, point his arms or extend them so much i will cry
Roach is a bad word? Yeah if that’s not a sign of the times
Great band. Definitely one of my favorites.
Another classic from an underrated band . I played this song and Cailin all the time. Takes me.back to high school days. Chillin' with friends, such good times. Class of 2001. Anyone from Southern California?
fuck yes.
damnnnnn my party song of 2002, partied all night till the sun came up all summer, and this song was always playing. oh the memories
Takes me back to the easy times. Love this song.
Awesome song. Remember it from when I was younger. Always brings back memories. Cant help but listen on drunken nights.
Love
if i had a party i would play this song hands down
best dance moves ever!
Scott may not be much of a dancer but he's one absolute beast of a singer. You almost see that these days
The thing i love about this song is with the guitarists, were given every variation of effort given. from no effort, to trying, to fucking killing it. love this song forever ❤
FINALLY I have been looking for this song for like a decade
man hes got some moves
Saw them in 05 and point fest 17 it was dope af Scott is the shit
Can't believe my parents let me listen to this when I was 11. At least I had good taste, even back then.
i was 15 my cousin was 18 and this is our second wind song at 2am drinking cheap gin sharing very little weed that looked like soil while playing nba 2k on the dreamcast and battle realms on pc friday and saturday nights until 6am.
Yea now a days if you not on a pill or coked out you're not cool :/
Much props though. Those were the damn good days
One my favorites
I remember this song debuting on the radio while i was getting down and boogie in the car with my bf 😅
Haa...Doing what in the car...Say what now?
Who cares what they crop... this is still an awesome song.
YEAH YEAH!!!
The chorus in this song always reminds me of Pink "Like a Pill".Something about the melody.
Ghoulspoon is better
