As much as I like to complain about Sierra Cement (for those of us who ride around Tahoe), the biggest upside of this area is it doesn't get very cold. We may occasionally leave the parking lot with it in the teens on a cold day, but by mid-morning it's probably 30 and by afternoon it's 35 to 40. 'Course that's what kills our snow quality, but it's nice to not freeze when riding. We rode on Sunday in five-plus feet of fresh and by afternoon you could really feel the snow firming up. It went from powder in the morning to.... not "heavy" but definitely "denser." I wear sweat pants (sorry) and then my 509 shell pants. Then a t-shirt (not 100% cotton), a zipper pullover, my Tek Vest, and then my 509 shell jacket. By midday I lose the pullover. If it's cold, I'll wear a lightweight neck gaiter and MAYBE a super thin balaclava. For gloves, I have three pair -- two heavy and one lightweight. My boots are the newest (as of last year) Klim boots with the double BOAs. I LOVE those boots. Expensive but worth every penny. I have yet to find a helmet I like. I'm running an older Gmax dual sport helmet (with a visor) because every snow helmet I buy fails to have speaker pockets. The Gmax doesn't either, but it was cheap. But I tried 509 and a number of others and none do. I had a Klim last season that did, but it had this horrible quick-disconnect latch that I could never get to work well so I sold it. I have the Tempest goggles. They're great until you add a prescription insert... they won't keep the insert fog-free so you're out of luck. I just wear prescription sport glasses (one set polarized brown, one set clear). We don't get enough powder days to worry about getting a face of it.
I wear pantyhose as my first layer then another layer for warmth and a wind breaker all for flexibility. Tights or pantyhose keep the circulation up and preservation down.
Good pod. Let me know if you guys what to try a pair of Judged gear goggles or and carbon fiber helmet! ;) I will hook you boys up. Like Brent said great because 1 google and 5 lenses takes up no room in your mountain bag. The big key is how they flow air through the goggles to vent warm air to prevent fogging. AJ might cry about his cold eyes tho, lol Love ya AJ :P
This question is for you Brent…..why don’t you have room? I heard you mention that a few times in this video. If you don’t have room…… then what are you doing wrong? Just curious…. Are you trying to push 509 Equipment? Have you ventured out and tried other brands? I’ve been riding for 25 years. 509 in my opinion is at the bottom of the list. I know it sounds cool and everybody’s doing it…… But all of their base layers are junk. It’s not real Merino. It’s partial synthetic/merino. The best real Merino out there is Kuiu and Smart wool. Those two have been tried, tested, and true. Sometimes it’s not about being cool and wearing what everybody else wears. Just saying.
509 sucks, they spend more on the packaging than their products Klim, Tobe, Fly Carbon Kevlar helmet far superior comfort & fit super lightweight Dragon goggles if you’re done dealing with fig ups even when digging! 👌🏽
The reason I have no room is because I carry all of the camera equipment on my sled and hood. I have safety stuff in my backpack and don't want a lot of weight on my back. I wear 509 outerwear but none of my bags or cases are 509
Moreno wool /Smart wool is where it’s at, Stance is a great brand have many for casual but afraid my feet would sweat.. The best socks I’ve found out of a plethora of tries is a Cabela’s lighter XPG socks. Down puffer or puffer vest.. NEVER ANYTHING COTTON! The best most compact boots I can wear all day on & off the sled is a Solomon hiking boot! that’s a genius hack! Super compact and lightweight for riding! 👌🏽🏆
Whatever works for you I agree you have to find what works, I like the stance socks because they don't move and seem to make my feet not feel moist like wool does!

Fly Helmets are the best I’ve ever worn, super lightweight
I like the fid lock system on the klim f3. You can even buckle it with gloves on if you get it down.
If you like the stance socks. You’ll have to try out there snow sock that they have. I love Stance’s snow sock.
Definitely need to try those out!!
Ninja suit, pod k8 braces, lightweight wicking socks, lyatt upper body airflow protector, tobe shell monosuit, klim double boa boots, Avy vest. If cold, fleece 3/4 pants, fleece top (usually Obermeyer), Columbia heat tech down puffy, balaclava.
Sounds like a pretty solid setup!

I swear by Klim. Used to wear ski gear when I was younger and didn’t have the money for the good stuff and now I’ll never go back
if u like a glove that has good handle bar feel try the FXR attack lite
Will have to look into them!

@@brentcook24 gotcha!👍 camera gear definitely takes up a lot of space. Loving the videos. Exciting for your guy’s future with your videos.
You don't have to say in my opinion anymore we do not live in that type of world that is gone😅
