    I know you talk about mountain riding. For us trail riders our arms get very cold and we end up with cramping sometimes because of it. As an avid chest protector wearer. My core can get very hot, but my arms out in the wind at speed get very cold. I really really wish Klim would produce something with minimal chest, insulation and extra insulation in the arms. I now you don’t deal with hi speed trail riding but with your affiliation with Klim perhaps you could pass it along.

      I love klim but feel they have been not doing much for us trail riders. Especially us that ride in stupid cold temps like -20 without wind-chill.

      I'm a trail rider and a Klim Ambassador that rides a few thousand miles per winter in the conditions you are referring to. (Maine). I don't know which jacket you are currently wearing that is giving you cold arms, but I'd recommend adding in the Klim Override Alloy for when the temps plummet. The entire back and underarms of the Override Alloy is designed to allow for a LOT of breathability across your back and underarms, but the chest and arms are fully insulated with 60grams of insulation. I never leave the cabin without my Override Alloy with me. I rode with it all weekend last winter when the temp was -30 below zero and never had any issues with my core (or arms) being cold whatsoever. In fact, it was so cold out - even electric gloves weren't quite warm enough to keep my hands warm. I HAD to wear the Caribou mittens!

      @snostm 6 місяців тому +1

      @@bedlambikes that Override sounds good I’ll have to check it out. The override would be absolutely perfect if it didn’t have chest insulation. My main problem is with wearing chest protection (that I won’t ride without) . My core gets very hot.

      @@snostm I wear a vest as well.
      Not the regular Override but the Override Alloy. Yes it has 60 grams on the chest but the back is free from insulation. What jacket are you wearing?

    * A note regarding the Klim Mammoth sock. For Winter 23/24 the Mammoth sock has been renamed to the Klim Aggressor 3.0. Same sock with a new name that coincides with with other layering pieces scaled out on a numbering scale from 1.0 - 2.0 and 3.0.

    Love my klim ripsaw. 3 diffrent style of klim glove would love some base layers and klim helmet. Klim is the best and worth the money. The glove seams could use some work tho.

    Thanks for the video, but what I would have liked to see was more of a talk on what fabrics to use (and what not). You briefly mention (Merino) wool and polyester (and a no for cotton), but you don't really go into it, rather you just mention all the Klim stuff that is available.
    Personally, I really like wool, but it is often too expensive. So I use polyester, or other synthetic, stuff. I do like to mix my layering materials, if I have the chance. For instance I would prefer to start with a polyester (or other 'technical' synthetic material, or even bamboo) sock, then a woolen sock over it. I sometimes have two different material base layers on as well.
    Mid layers I like to wear, can range from a simple polyester (or synthetic blend) sports T-shirt (short sleeve) or jersey (long sleeve) to a thick fleece (which is also polyester) vest. I also have (but hardly use) thin fleece mid layer pants. (Doesn't Klim have fleece stuff, because you didn't show any.)
    Anyway, I think the sort of material is more important than brand and knowing what that material does (moisture wicking or retaining, insulation, maybe even odor) helps in chosing your layers.

      Howdy and thanks for watching. I think the point of the video….just like each of my videos is to educate and inspire people to look into things even deeper than what I cover. Your comment back to us is excellent and you are totally right about other specific materials that are “personal preferences”
      Videos about gear can sometimes drag on for a while since there really is a ton of options out there. I learn from comments like yours and try and build from them as we forecast for future videos.
      Thanks for sharing and ride safe!!!

The phone calls and messages have been pretty overwhelming over the years so we apologize for not responding.
      As we move forward we hope to provide more information on our site that explains what’s been happening.

    Good video as always man! Can you stack base layers? (Ie: merino blend +klim 1.0+klim 2.0) or would tight layers block sweat wicking?

    • @bedlambikes
      @bedlambikes 6 місяців тому +1

      As long as no cotton is involved, I don't see a huge problem in that approach. But I'd much prefer to wear a good mid-layer, or even 2 mid-layers -vs- 2 base layers in harnessing warmth.

      @bedlambikes 6 місяців тому +2

      I'm not going to "argue" with you over it. However, while having a FACT based discussion, the expanded PTFE membrane under the brand name of Gore-Tex is identical. The choices in Thinsulate insulation sourcing is identical, face fabrics are identical, YKK zippers are identical, as well as other textiles that are used in sewing, taping, visibility, etc..are also all the same.
      The only difference that came along after the investment by Polaris was the financial backing that allowed Klim to diversify the entire product line. This gave Klim the ability to introduce additional new products for the consumer. More gloves, more mid-layers, and so on.
