My anxiety of wearing the mask is very low, but I freak out in confined space courses. I'm going to watch this video a few dozen times and try this next chance I get to do the course in a week or so.

I'm in the academy now. Wearing the scba doesn't bother me unless I'm doing the obstacles and scba emergency escape practice. I freaked out going under an obstacle and got caught up in wires. It was awful. But I made it through.

I just returned home from a training session and very upset. I have been a volunteer on three depts for almost 25 years. Wearing the air pack was never my favourite thing to do but I never had an instance where I had to stop and it has been 10 years since I had one on as I thought I had retired. Now back in service and through the miracles of government I have to now pass a provincial practical exam in all firefighting including SCBA. At practice tonight I had to get mine off twice. I am Okay putting the mask on and doing somethings but there seems to be a point when I just have to get it off. I am going to give your system a try as well as wearing a mask around home although my anxiety I think comes from the sound of myself breathe so prominently but that should be easy to figure out. I hope it works wish me luck.

I also have a stretch of anxiety with the mask but it's not the mask it's the attaching the regulator. What has helped me is getting a training regulator from thefirestore.com and left the mask semi loose so I can take off need be. The anxiety really comes from the control factor and mind, your mind knows that air outside of the mask is toxic but you are in a sense throwing yourself in a glass jar and your mind doesn't like that thought either. Best advice that I got is make yourself/mind know the risk and outcomes but also familiarity with the mask and the regulator will help alot.

Some reason why I have a hard time with msa face mask in intro to fire at the college. Meanwhile at the department I worked for are "survivar air" similar to Scott brand face mask and scba I have no problems with could this be from the design of the face mask. How can I get comfortable with msa and not use as much air in fire 1and 2. Let me know thanks
