Mike is a great guy, very knowledgeable always willing to help out with questions I have had with my tankless. Not many like him around anymore! Thanks Mike!
Mike the Rinnai Guy is awesome. These videos are straight forward and there’s a palpable concern Mike shares for doing things the best way possible. A lot of people due to circumstance or lack of concern are just looking to get things done quickly or sell ads. Mike really loves sharing his knowledge and connecting with people. Thanks Mike.
I was one of the people in Texas with damaged units from the freeze. Your videos are very helpful to understand our equipment and how to take proper care of it...thank you for taking the time to post them (and thank you for your sympathy willingness to help each one of us with the particulars)
Thank you for this fantastic video Mike. My installers plug directly the wires from my previous water heater (220v) directly to the rinnai, without grounding it to the frame. After a couple of days I heart a noise coming from the heater, I went to check and the display was off. The breaker was active and power was flowing. My guess is that the controller fuse blowup. Is the heater still ok? Is it just a matter of replacing a fuse or have this caused a more deeper problem? Thank you again. Great video.
Thnx Mike. Very helpful. I'm a residential electrician in a very rural part of southwest MS. Can I use a gfi recept coming off an existing attic light circuit?
Mike, Another great video and all in the series are very informative. Thank you for taking the time to speak to me over the phone and help me troubleshoot my tankless water heater.
Just sub'd to your channel. Just had the plumbers leave after installing another RL94e .. We had a Rinnai for 12 or 13 years and then heat exchanger broke and we bought a new one 2-1/2 years ago. it was also a RL94e. We had a power outage with a freeze and it busted the heat exchanger. It was going to take over 2 months to get a new one so we had to buy a brand new unit. Wife didn't want to haul and heat water for over 2 months. But I am keeping the old one and will try to fix it and keep it as a spare.
Hey great video I have a Reu-2425 model. Does the unit actually need an external controller to run or can I simply set the dip switches on-site the cover of the unit for set temperature? Cheers and keep up the great video content
Dude , thank you . You really helped me set up. I see the power and the controller hook ups, but where do the wifi wires hook up? You showed how they enter the unit, but where do they hook up?
Ive got the REU-AM1620WD-US with a large (1") white male threaded nipple on the bottom of the tank where the 120V enters into the unit. Wondering if you can tell me the type of fitting it will accept in order to attach the AC cord to unit. I can send a photo if that helps. Thank you very much, I love your channel.
Hey Mike we are have trouble with our Rinnai exterior v65e tankless water heater. I watched ur wiring videos and It seemed like the electricians hooked it up right but when we turn the water on the heater is not igniting to heat the water. The controller is turning on and they added an plug in to I think a gfi outlet. I can confirm tomorrow. We even messed with the little switches In the inside or natural gas and elevation. Please help. Thanks so much .
Hi Mike I really appreciate all of your videos they are most informative and helpful, I've got a few questions for you, the first is about installing the controller, is there any way I can install it in it's own little box outside and If I can't is it low voltage where I can forgo the electrical box and just surface mont it and shove the excess wire in the wall,(of course I know If it's 110 voltage I can't do that. The second question is about the warranty, it seems I read that unless it's professionally installed the warranty is voided, I'm a contractor installing this in my own home will that be considered professionally installed? I thought I heard you say you had a video on how to communicate with Rinnai as a plumber, is there a homeowner and or contractor correct approach to contacting Rinnai? Sorry, one more question I have had a Bosh tankless for close to twenty 20year and like it but it takes too long to heat the water where it's located so I'm installing this Rinnai V65EN right next to the kitchen and bathroom adjoining wall, I intend to leave the Bosch unit installed because it's closer to our guest apartment, is this going to cause problems having two tankless water heaters? should I try and Isolate the Bosch from the main part of the house? My house is only 750sq ft. sorry to ask so many questions. Jim
Mike, another great video and as always very informative. Thank you again for jumping on the phone and helping me troubleshoot my tankless water heater we are back up and running and we’re very grateful in the state of Texas for all your how to videos. thank you again for everything
My question is after setting the clock, does the clock remain lit the entire time. The one I serviced the clock and timer had to be set after the new homeowner moved in and their clock on the tstat disappeared after setting it.
I have a rinnai 24 with 2 controllers already installed and has a leaking copper pipe with a split pinhole in it. I have decided to replace it with a whole new system. My question is, if I purchase a Rinnai B26 instantaneous hot water system, can the existing controllers that I have be wired into this new system? are there provisions inside the infinity the B26? please
Hello Mike. I’m having one red wire hanging loose located at the very front after removing the cover off on Rinnai RL75. Any ways you can help with that?
Hi Mike - in TX, and just got a new Navien (no rinnai's available). The thing is brand new and plumber just installed yesterday. today, it wont fire up reliably on demand for hot water. when standing outside next to the unit, when someone opens the hot water tap I can hear the ignition sparking inside the burner but it doesn't catch. It takes the thing 3-4 times to finally light itself and fire up to make hot water. Is this just a break in period thing? There doesn't seem to be any kind of adjustment for that issue. Thanks!
40 minutes long to explain absolutely nothing but "red to black to see how it's twisted" would have been nice if you were to say or show WHERE the controller connections are in the machine!

Your welcome
Mike I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate your time and explanation!!! Thank You so much!!

Great tips for the really specific questions I had about this component of the installation. Awesome! Thank you.

For the exterior unit, Does the controller install in side of the house ?

Hi make love the videos I have a 180en I in a cold area. I'm using it for my floor heat. I use glycol in my floor heat any thoughts on this??
Thank you for the excellent tutorial!

Thank you for a detailed installation video!
I wire my controller with longer wire and install inside my house in a closet. No issue with that I presume?

Cheers Mike,awesome stuff 👍🏼
Excellent video.
Hey Mike! Love the video, can I use a 6 ft 13 amp 3 prong (16 gauge ) appliance replacement grounded cord for this installation?
im glad i didnt fry the controller, thanks brother
So when using the knife switch (disconnect), is it legal to use the 16awg stranded wire cord and terminate it directly under the screws?
Thank you great teacher
You are excellent! Thanks.
My question is after setting the clock, does the clock remain lit the entire time. The one I serviced the clock and timer had to be set after the new homeowner moved in and their clock on the tstat disappeared after setting it.
Would you trust a surge protected outlet instead of a GFI ? Or are they the same.

What is sjo wire? And what wire do I need because I believe I’ve used the wrong wiring to my indoor tankless
Awesome... thanks for the help! 👍🇺🇸

This video is very helpful
Hey Mike, what switch do you have to use to hard wire in a Rinnai outside tankless water heater.
I don’t use a switch, I use a plus and an I use cover. I install a electric pigtail on the tankless. I have a video on it.

Is it possible to run this water heater without a controller? Thank you
You you can but it will only give you around 115* degrees of water temperature and you will not know if you get a trouble code. Mike
Awesome
Constructive criticism, show a close-up on connecting all wires.
