Wow, fantastic to see micro fauna in our reef tanks under the microscope. Surely those Dino's have got no chance with all these great strategies employed. Looking forward to hearing about your success in the next episode 🙏✨
It is a different world underneath a microscope for sure. You can see how they battle for supremacy and with a sterile start the algae’s etc have a head start and dominate for ages. Need all that stuff that you have been dosing from early doors to win the day 💯👌🏻💪👍🏻
Chuffed you enjoyed it. There is a lot to read into and also to understand what strain of dino’s you have let alone how to treat it. Now I need to wait and see if it works 🤞🏻
Good on you for not taking the easy way out mate and fighting it….. think of the learning that can then be shared helping others who face the same …. Enjoyed the information in this video well done mate 💙
That’s smart to get a microscope. It’s fascinating to see those little creatures up close. Out of interest, what size and how old are your clownfish in that tank?
Thanks for watching this video and also for being a regular with Friday livestream, really appreciate it 🙏🏻. To have a clean and clean sandbed will be 🔥💪💯
Good luck Paul I had it and beat it the same way you are doing as I mentioned on your live stream a few weeks ago my tank is 300 litres and was putting 80 drops of sponge excel a day ended up with diatoms everywhere and dinos gone clean up crew loved it took a month or two 👍
Good Luck. Ive had same type of dino's beat it doing exactly the same as you. I also did regular ICP's so knew silicate level and also got any trace elements in check not sure if this helped to beat them or not. Just make sure get tank nice and dirty and not be tempted to do any water changes.
Thanks. I am tempted by a water change as phos and nitrate are creeping up but need to hold the line on this one 🤪. Yep, plan ICP and try to get everything within a range
Not sure as my nutrients have historically been high and I have not had any hobby test results that show zero. It can also be caused by an imbalance in nutrients or elements too. Since day 1 I have struggled with building an ecosystem and this is the first time this has happened and dino’s has won the day. Live and learn and will certainly concentrate more on biodiversity in future tanks
I have an dinoflagellate issue in my tank, its has been ongoing for a few months now. I know what particular dino it is, the same as yours. All my efforts to rebalance my system to reduce the population of dinos has not worked so far. I dont think you can ever get rid of dinos in an aquaria, the same with diatoms they are always there but with my system they are out of balance. I have read an article on 'Silicates in the reef aquariums' by Randy Holmes-Farley and I was thinking to try and dose Sodium Silicate to promote diatoms. I have found a local source (here in the UK, a company called APC pure) of liquid glass, a 40% solution. Then I see that Brightwell offer SpongeExcel using Sodium metasilicate (at twice the price). I have had a rummage through the web trying to find the differences between Sodium Silicate and Sodium Metasilicate, from a general use there are distinct differences, but what about the reef tank enviroment? I have asked the quesion on reef2reef.
Oh dear and 🤞🏻 you can eradicate. Have you been dosing phyto, miracle mud, bacteria etc? My dino’s have not receded but the corals look really good. I have started doing brightwell but I only have a 100L tank so 2 drops per day and bottle will last a while. I do mot know what the difference is or how they will effect the tank, sorry

great video Paul - looks like you have a plan of attack - fingers crossed you get sorted
Thanks Tom. A plan I have and just need to so what o need to do each day, be patient and 🤞🏻
Really informative update, great to see in detail how to handle these reefing challenges.

Thanks for watching Ryland. Would rather not have to learn about Dino’s but I get where your coming from 👌🏻💪👏🏻
Very informative Paul, look forward to seeing the update & hopefully concurring this issue , good luck fella.
Thanks Darren I will need all the luck I can get 🤞🏻

Thanks for watching. They were about an inch long when I first got them in nov 2022. Probably about 2 to 2 1/2 inches now
Fingers crossed for you mate. You now know what it is and how to tackle the problem you will be sorted in no time. Cheers for sharing
Thanks and have been tackling all wrong for a while now. Live and learn 🤦🏻🤞🏻
@@fishpalace sounds like it's all in hand now
I hope so 🤞🏻
Great update again Paul, looking forward to seeing you treatvthe tank. Just watched the livestream from last night aswell... entertaining as always 😂

Thanks and reassuring that you used this method and all good. Expecting to take a while to sort itself out 🤞🏻

What was the cause of the Dino’s? Bottomed out nitrates?
