    I also had issues with the ATO+ and raised a UK Support ticket last Friday. They sent me a V2 replacement because I had issues with water levels fluctuating too much and because my sensor was the original type. Problem was picked up immediately and a new one sent yesterday that I received today. Support in UK is quick to rectify issues. I have seen wide fluctuations in RO water consumed. Normally about 3L a day but recently about 10+ lites. My tank is Reefer 625 G2. One observation, is the height in the weir isn’t static and setting the water height a cm below the overflow seems unrealistic as a change in level does translate to a large water uptake. The bubble sponge seems to clog quite easily. Recently I switched to half the depth but it’s perhaps time to replace the sponge after 2+ years? I don’t use the Syphon Breaker because (for me) it leaked too much and no water reached the sump. Also, it’s not needed if pumping water up hill and the outlet is above my RO tank. The reference to RO uptake and Calc usage isn’t an issue as the replacement RO water doesn’t change the salinity (in theory). For now the level in tank is at the overflow e.g. some flow down it. Not ideal, but necessary. Fingers crossed V2 sensor will help but old one was pretty simple and did test ok even if results using it were variable.

      Many thanks for watching and for your comprehensive update 👏🏻👏🏻. The set up in a sumped tank clearly brings it’s own challenges compared to the all in one but sounds like you have it under control 🙌🏻. All the best 👌🏻💪

      Just shows how different corals from the same species can be so different. Def need to do your research before you buy a piece so that you place near it far from others. I think everyone's gravitated towards artificial rock thinking how lovely it will be not risking pests being brought in from live rock and the headaches of having to deal with them. However what we are all now starting to realise, is that the biological inbalance dry rock brings, causing algaes, bacterias, etc are a much bigger heachache than live rock pests ever were. Especially when we some poeple are chucking in bottled bacteria, fish and corals from day one

    • @fishpalace
      @fishpalace Місяць тому

      I agree, dry rock was appealing and now not much you can do as hardly any live rock around. The value of livestock and the biodiversity it brings is off the scale and I would take live rock with risk of pests, compared to current position I agree chucking bottled bacteria, fish and corals in from day 1 is a challenge and certainly not something I would try. Thanks for watching 🙌🏻

      Thanks Paul to both you and March, really appreciate it 🙌🏻 and a very entertaining evening. That would be great fun to watch, a reefers top 10 songs although it would be hard to beat this original tune 🫣

    For me a few gadgets is what makes reefing simple now. Xepta Autobalance manages my alk dosing ph plus, thats one major headache takem care of, just have to calibrate pumps and probe once a month, takes 15 mins. Then i have a kamoer KWC that does my auto top up and also does my water changes. It can do small changes automatically throughtout the day but i just use it to do a 10% every weekend. Never have to move or lift buckets anymore. Pumps the water straight down the drain and brings in fresh from my mixing station. Test phosphate, nitrate, calc and mag using salifert every sunday. its by far the easiets tank I've ever ran. Thanks to a couple of gadgets :) routine is hugely improtant, every jobs on a calendar.

      Sounds like you have your tank dialed in and auto water change sounds the most appealing to me, especially on a larger tank. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment 👌🏻

      @@fishpalace it's getting there :) it's only a 2ft cube but the aim from the start has been make it as easy as possible 👍 the downstairs toilet is on the opposite side of the wall of the tank. Dosing tubes, top up tube and water change tubes all go through a hole into the downstairs toilet where the ro unit and xepta is etc. So nice being able to just chuck some salt in a container that already has a heater and pump in the just press some buttons on your phone to take water in and out. Before this I had several tanks that always kinda stalled and I've come to realise, at least for me, the more time you put Into making the weekly jobs as easy as possible to do, before you start adding live stock, the more likely you are to do them.

    • @fishpalace
      @fishpalace 2 місяці тому

      @@Mark-hb2zy totally agree. The more hassle it is to maintain the less likely you are to do it and the tank slides. Identifying and sorting is key although overlooked.

      And it does need to be expensive either. Jebao pumps, xepta £170 2nd hand, noopsyche lights, bubble Magus filter roller. I've had all the echotech stuff and everything top of the range and it honestly didn't make my tank any better, just my bank balance smaller 😭 Glad I found the channel btw. We seem to have lost a lot of channels in the last couple of years. it's nice to see a few new ones are gaining a bit of traction and getting support from some of the more well known names like march. A few years ago the bigger channels were promoting the smaller channels and helping build a community, that's been missing lately

      I know what you mean about 2nd hand. I bought a Red Sea reefer 9 years ago for about 40% of retail price. Still using the MP40, apex dos and radion xr30 Gen 3’s but lots of options out there and save so much money. 👌🏻

      Thanks for watching and comments. Having a garage certainly comes in handy and I am sure anyone who has been in the hobby for a while will have accumulated tonnes of stuff that will never be used again, in their garage or shed. I remember siporax well as only been in hobby a few months when Paul starting selling it and had a few pieces in a a 100L tanks. 👌🏻👏🏻
