I want to make something special for my Friends wedding so I have decided to make them a pair of fork and knife. I will be using brass and maple for this project.
You remind me of someone in a video game that you occasionally have side quests with and you always have some crazy invention you want the main player to test out. Everything you make is so awesome, keep it up.
Thanks! Its funny that you say that because I always find those characters my favorite, especially the dwarf blacksmith from the recent God of War game (sindry I think). Anyways, he has a golden hammer which I'd love to replicate.
Uri, I work as a repairman of brass instruments in the states. I suggest, if you want a higher finish by hand, a product called miracle cloth. I don't know of the availability where you are but it is mainly cloth soaked in coconut oil. It really shines up brass and brings it to a pretty high luster.
The sound of the sped up engraving clips is just wonderful. It is really cool to watch how you do the turns and fine detail with the metal chisel. Your videos will never fail to amaze! Keep up the great work!
17:21 ".. I notice all the places, all the inaccuracies with my engraving" while I can see your point, I think your work is beautiful as it is, I would be astonished to receive such a gift! Superb handcraft, I can't imagine all the hours that was put into its realization, I'm very glad I stumbled upon this channel by pure accident (almost, the Algorithm always knows)
Hey bud dont be so hard on yourself. You can do things more than 3/4 of the Population of the whole planet can, so be proud of yourself. Your work is wonderful and all 100% handmade
The overbend on the fork was not a complete failure. Now you know how to successfully make an epic back scratcher!...lol. Awesome video! Beautiful work as always!
I know your pain... once made 3 teapots with the spout upside down... Didn't notice until I was trying to use it. Had to look at the first teapot I had ever made to realize what went wrong.
You should use glue and loose flocking instead of felt. Much cleaner outcome but can be messy. I always flocked into a garbage bag so I could reuse the left over material. Keep up the good work I love your engraving and how you keep it low tech. It really shows your growth as an artist.
I love your videos! I do a lot of wood work with chisels and hand tools and learn with every project. All I can say from personal experience is no one is as critical as the Maker of the project. Your engraving is beautiful!
You, sir are an amazing friend! To put so much effort and time into a gift is absolutely wonderful! Anyone would be quite moved to receive such a gift!!
What a beautiful treasure they will have for the rest of their lives and remembering that you make it especially for them on their special Wedding Day.
I absolutely love how you turn the most basic items into amazing one of a kind pieces of art. You truly are an awesome craftsman. How do you make a super cheap item worth hundreds or even thousands??? Oh just give it to uri!!
@@urituchmanpigeon thanks very much i really love your work. I will try to make a workshop similar to yours where i could relax and create something more peaceful without loud noises only hammer taps thanks again. Keep up. Ivan
How about make a simple sharpening fixture so you can have precision cutting angles on all your chisels then engrave the fixture with the freshly sharpened graver
You have very impressive skills and patience. Even when your not happy with your finished work you turn out beautiful keepsakes. I would be proud to own your worst work. Great work great video great artist. Thank you for sharing.
My dear friend Uri, Your friend will love his hand made gift you made him i am sure. Such love and patience you put into your pieces. Don't sell yourself short my friend, you do amazing work and that is the beauty in a hand made piece little imperfections which make it perfect because it was all done by hand not machine. Pure talent ! You keep up the Amazing work my friend!! You inspire me.
So a thought came to mind when I rewatched this video. Why not try to hammer harden the knife edge? Its what they would do for bronze blades in the past. It would make it a bit more serviceable and would leave you a very nice finish pattern depending on how much you would sand it afterward.
Just found you uri,and im hooked,i,ve watched all your vid,s,and i think your brilliant very funny and talented man, thank you for sharing,ps your cats don,t care about anything, brill
Uri, You are my new favorite craftsman.... I love your artistic eye & mind when you come up with the ideas & give it your best. Just keep on what you are doing & you will become great at it!
i discovered your channel ,few minutes ago ,and i really enjoyed : your videos ,your humor ,your brilliant ideas, your work , and even your accent :) you got a new subscriber keep it up !
Perhaps next time it might be a good idea to put contact paper over the felt before you apply it, that way any excess glue will get on that and you can peel it away afterward.
I would love to see you make some sort of, steampunky ventilator and/or goggles. Watched your instructional on how you make engraving tools. So tempted to try.
These were absolutely beautiful man. An inspiration. I would love to do things like this, though I don't expect them to turn out nearly as well as yours.
If you want to aply the golden leafs without showing the imperfection you have to aply a reddish substance, or in case of silver leafs a silvery one. I dont know the english name but a quick search will show it up. You polish that substance one hardened and its marvelous
When you say magnification, I don't know if you mean using a microscope, I could see that being difficult to engrave with, but maybe one of the visor type magnifiers would work for you and you'd be more comfortable with that. You're an amazing artist, and I watched another youtuber Alex Steele teach himself engraving under a microscope. Now he got pretty good for having no experience with engraving. With your skill and some practice maybe you could get comfortable with a scope and really up your engraving.
Uri, I love your low tech approach, it would be great if at the end you gave an estimate of how many hours your projects take. I'm sure it's far more than what the videos let on and will help us appreciate how much effort and dedication you invest into your craft.

so youre sayin this stuff can be used for trumpets?
Dr. Locklear I would be careful with that and try and stick to washing your Trumpet with water, but I suppose if you wanted to you could use that.

Do you not have inner leprechauns pestering you all the time? Weird.

Best quote I've heard in a long while.
I am going to start using this.
I imagine your friends were just delighted that you put so much into a gift that can be passed down for many generations.

Spray glue! You need spray glue. It is the savior the glue-dripping nation and has saved my sanity and the appearance of my work in many many cases.
The sound of the sped up engraving clips is just wonderful. It is really cool to watch how you do the turns and fine detail with the metal chisel. Your videos will never fail to amaze! Keep up the great work!

I love the honesty and journey you take us on. I can't imagine anyone receiving these and not being in total awe! You're a brilliant man Uri!!
You sure have the most delicate hands don't doubt yourself those engravings are amazing

Great video sir .. very nice work 👍🏽
Great video mate. Here's a tip, instead of gluing felt to wood, try this stuff called "flocking" which works great and has no edges.
The overbend on the fork was not a complete failure. Now you know how to successfully make an epic back scratcher!...lol. Awesome video! Beautiful work as always!
honestly my solution as I watched the video was to make them both engraved back scratchers too
You deserve so much more views, man. Quality craftsmanship.
"I don't know what I'm doing" well I don't know what you are doing either but I love it
I think they are beautiful! Great work💙
On the other side, that first fork bend could have been a great back scratcher!
I know your pain... once made 3 teapots with the spout upside down... Didn't notice until I was trying to use it. Had to look at the first teapot I had ever made to realize what went wrong.
Beautiful workmanship. Love your video's.
I never subscribe to anyone but I have soo much respect for you Uri, because you hardly ever use power tools.

What a beautiful treasure they will have for the rest of their lives and remembering that you make it especially for them on their special Wedding Day.
Wow!! This is amazing, you're so talented. I'm amazed that it was all by hand, no machines! Incredible workmanship

Hi uri. I really enjoy your videos. Could you please make one with mode detailed description of creating engraving chisels? Thanks :D

I would like this too, making engraving chisels and how to get started with engraving is something I definitely want to see
How about make a simple sharpening fixture so you can have precision cutting angles on all your chisels then engrave the fixture with the freshly sharpened graver
Yes I would like this too.
You are a master craftsman uri!!! And an artist i am a big fan of your work thank you.

Love your sense of humour, and your crazy skills
At 17:52 you can really see how well you intertwined the smudged spirals during the engraving, looks great.
I don't know why, but the way Uri says 'weddings' cracks me up
Your English is excellent, but I love that you keep your accent.
