Replace broken Zipper slider easily.
You will need:
Same size and style slider
Side Cutters
Pliers
Use side cutters to remove top Stop and replace with new slider onto the zipper tape,
Replace top stop and squeeze firmly with pliers. (You can squeeze with side cutters as well but may leave a bit of a mark)

@@NotchesSewingI did. A while back I gave up on a jean's zipper because I thought I'd have to sew through layers of denim for to insert a new zip. Your video showed me that I was looking at it from the wrong angle and missing the simple solution. I'm sure these quality uploads take alot of time and energy - just want you to know that they are really valued 🤗
Usually you can’t replace a slider on jeans with same method. But if you managed it . Good on you!
Thank you, within a week of my buying a really pretty jacket the zipper broke. I've been putting off for years taking it to a seamstress to have the zipper replaced. With this video I was able to replace the zipper slide within a few minutes and at very little cost thank you I really appreciate this

This video was great. I have no patience at all and I was able to replace the zipper on my leather biker jacket. One tip, before you crimp the stop back on, make sure you didn't put the zipper on backwards like I did.

what type of a store would sell a slider for a coat?

@@NotchesSewing Which kit do you recommend for a broken slider. I broke it trying to remove it in a stuck position. I can see now I should have removed the top
clip and it would have slid right off. All I need is a replacement slider and would want a kit with different sizes hoping to find the same size. as old
@@NotchesSewing would a Walmart, or fabric store carry them? Maybe a Hobby Lobby?
I don’t live in North America so I am not sure what those stores carry. It is best you take the original slider with you to make sure you purchase same size and style. You may need to buy a whole zipper if they don’t stock just the slider.
Zippers don't come in that many sizes so a trip to a second hand shop would likely offer you some inexpensive garment with the same type of zipper. Pirate the pull and replace the old one as shown. I did it and it was very simple. Instead of reusing the metal tip I simply ran a few stitched on the tip to build up the area. You never pull a zipper up 100% anyway so it worked well. Buying a small zipper new from a fabric store is another good idea and you'd have a better chance of getting a satisfactory color match than from a charity shop.
