The execution of the idea was flawless, but it was so flawless that I didn't find myself laughing. I was engaging in the characters and their plight and then losing that engagement when I realized it was a parody and then falling back in. It was a roller coaster!

A lot of things. Just a start, the obvious one, it's a funny reimagining of the classic "buying a car for the new family". Similar to how comedians parody, say, how all airplane food is bad by imagining that as a motive to terrorism, this reimagines the very expensive buying of a tank as the large step of buying a car.

You'd love to run behind a tank rather than sit behind a tree. Trust me.
Tank based infantry was part of Russian WWII doctrine back then, and it was for a little while after, but its hardly ideal in todays modern battlefield. Thats why we have so many IFVs now. Typically when you see soldiers riding on tanks nowadays theyre hitching a ride somewhere, not heading towards a combat zone and hopping off when they start getting shot at.
Besides, the Russian infantry pretty much knew they were gonna die anyways. A russian soldier at the time may have only been issued one or two magazines worth of ammunition to do their job.
Well if youre not getting shot at then being on top seems like a good idea, you dont have to worry about bumping into the walls when you go over rough terrain, you have better visibility, and it wont be as loud/stuffy

The m103 is actually an m60 as far as I can tell without looking at the back. 103 has a smooth nose and m60 has a flat nose
