Matchbox restoration Ford Galaxie Fire Chief No 59. Diecast car

For subtitles press C. The Ford Galaxy was produced by the Lesney factory in 1966. It was a model that had double numbering. Number 55 was assigned to a police car and number 59 to a fire truck. My Ford was heavily dusty. I washed it in an ultrasonic cleaner. The glass was badly cracked. I had to do a new vacuum method. I also made a blue resin beacon light.

I managed to restore a couple of #59 Fire Chief and Police Ford Galaxies myself, but I didn't have as much sophisticated tools like our youtube restorer here. I did manage to recreate the decals with my computer and printer. I was able to print out the new decals to the right scale, and place them onto the vehicles, and clear coated then on. The vehicles were not in a bad enough condition to warrant total disassembly, just a good cleanup and repaint. Nice work.

Wow, a working LED flashing light would be a nice effect! I like the idea that it would still look original, but flash when a power source is applied. Have you seen any of the vintage MARX lighted truck series? I have the firetruck and cargo box truck. I believe there are a few others that I plan to acquire. Happy collecting and take care!

I do not know how such a model came to our Kazan, USSR in the early 80s. I traded it for something at school. To repeat it, the boys and I pushed it into the wet sand of a plywood mailbox and filled it with lead. Molten lead was made in a tin can over a fire from the plates of a car battery. The lead copy came out pretty good. All this was lost in the same years. I just remember that it was also a Matchbox, the driver behind the wheel as here and the inscriptions on board "hotel", "airport". If anyone sees a model similar to my descriptions on the network, please skinte the link.

That looks like brand new Paul, nice! I have about 11 of these stripped down atm, the red paint was so hard to remove on some of them, gonna have to try that caustic soda though, that seemed to make light work of it... Which red paint did you use and what did you use to recreate the beacon?

Fast Finisch Car 65300 Kardinalrot / h. Then colorless acrylic APP with hardener. For the lantern I used epoxy gloss coat and blue transparent dye for resins

Я не знаю каким образом подобная модель попала в нашу Казань, СССР в начале 80-ых годов. Я её выменял на что-то в школе. Чтобы повторить её мы с мальчишками вдавили её в мокрый песок фанерного почтового ящика и залили свинцом . Расплавленный свинец делали в консервной банке над огнём из пластин автомобильного аккумулятора. Свинцовая копия получилась неплохой. Потеряно это всё в эти же года. Помню только что это был тоже Matchbox, водитель за рулём как здесь и надписи на борту "hotel", "airport". Если кто увидит в сети похожую на мои описания модель, выложите, пожалуйста ссылку.
