Hi, great to see the progress on the cabin. My dream is to have a cabin for Weekend/later retire in Rucar-Bran area (Fundatica/Șirnea/Măgura/Peștera villages). Beautiful area, I'm slowly put money on the side to buy a land there for such a cabin. Keep the videos coming, they are an inspiration for Romanian citizens also!

Hi, they'll be an update on the cabin soon, we've made quite a lot more progress. There's nothing to stop you building a small one over time and moving it to the location you want. I'd argue that it's better to put cash into a building than just save the cash that constantly devalues while the cost of building materials constantly rise but who knows, I'm surprised we've still not had a market collapse yet.

Thank you for sharing your build. I hope we can see it finished. If not, any content you share is greatly appreciated. Your comment about mortgages is spot on. We spend so many years working to pay off a home that many sell once they retire. We are never really free when we are burdened with years of debt. Wishing you well in all of your projects and endeavors.

Hi, thanks for the feedback, it should be finished in a couple of months, normally it would take a month to build but currently we can only work on it 5-10 days in a month due to other commitments. We'll keep posting update videos. Thanks again. :)

How big is the land this cabin is situated on? What is the price?

    • @randomromania
      @randomromania  2 роки тому +2

Price depends very much on how much you want to be involved in the building process and to what level of comfort you require. I'm interested in helping people move here, I'm personally trying to find others from England to collaborate with. The site the cabin is on is 25 acres.

what are the dimensions of this build please? My wife and I lived quite comfortably in a 15 ft. by 25ft. cabin while we were building our retirement home. It had in floor heating which we fueled with a household water heater. Cheap and effectie.

You are so absolutely right when it comes to price disclosure.
The only way these jobs should be done is:
    1. Have a discussion with the owner and/or architect to see exactly what is already planned / taken into account and all the other stuff that was most probably not even considered as a necessity ( either for right now, or in the future ).
    2. Plan - draw - inspect - discuss - redraw - inspect - discuss - redraw again if necessary.
    3. Each trade should make at least 2 lists of materials:
    - a list that fits into the available budget, that meats at least the minimum when it comes to safety standards
    - another list that has all the 'stuff' that's needed to do a proper job.
Then discuss the pros and cons of each approach, time it would take to buy and have all the materials delivered on site, time it would take to complete each stage of the build.
    4. Materials a purchased by the owner ( beneficiary / client ), and you only pay for the labor part of the equation.
The reason this is not done all the time, if at all, is because they do indeed charge you say $50 / Meter of cable/wires, but they buy something cheap ( that's not even up to code ) for under $10 / meter and pocket the rest of the money.
The idea behind this is: "The client doesn't know what we used, who cares..."

if people are not transparent there's literally a hidden agenda, it's not complex is it, if you just described my community as people who get this simple point you'd not be too far off. if you can't be honest, reasonable, keep your word, positive, open minded and up for working hard doing a very interesting business then it's not for you

Hey hello, I love the video and watched a couple of others too, thank you for taking the time to do these and offer out information.
I wonder if you can help me? I am English and live in the UK. My partner of four years is Romanian and building his house in Romania. I am really wanting to move to Romania once he has finished his house, but not to live there. The idea is he will rent his house and I will rent mine in the UK so we both have a passive income to live off. The dream is to live in a rural / remote area Romania and have lots of land and privacy so we can grow out own food and not have the worry of overlooking neighbours. I have found though that I can't buy agricultural land without becoming a registered company which brings with it all sorts of annual tax headaches. Is it possible to find houses like I am describing with big land (at least a few hectares) in a beautiful quiet location that I can share ownership of without having to go down the company route? The house isn't a big problem, as long as there is access to water and electric then my partner has the skills to build or at least help build our own house. We are not super rich so the cheaper the location the better! If you are unable to help, are you able to signpost me to English speaking help? My partner is not so proactive on planning ... And I am working on learning the Romanian language slowly!

I honestly wonder what life would be for an english foreigner in rural romania. It definitely depends on the location and type of people. You can find every type of person under the sun in rural romania from honest to utter scum. It's why i'd be careful leaving an empty house as an englishman but i mean yeah, really depends on location. And just what exactly you're planning to invest in long term. I know of an englishman who built a hostel in Breb maramures which made the news years ago, he seemed to be doing very well.

Romania is very very safe compared with the UK on multiple fronts. It depends on one's level of initiative about one's ability to survive or even thrive here in Romania, practical all rounders do well here, if you want a McJob then the UK's for you. I've never quite understood why so many Romanians hate on their own country and people so much, I have some theories but this is not a political channel. I'm very proud of England and the English for their vast global achievements but sadly most of my countrymen seem confused about that one so I'm making my own way. :)

@@randomromania Yes I was pretty harsh, I draw from my experience working romanian jobs. I had my best job working in a rural dairy factory thanks to the people there, but I can say the same for my worst job. As for safety, I tend to agree. Literally the only time I was attacked was working in London in 2019. This was when I lived in Tottenham.
