Thanks brother. I’m gonna give you a seemingly really simple and obvious piece of advice, but it’s the only thing that works for me. Just delete it. Delete the apps off your phone right now. Just commit to deleting them now. You may redownload them in 20 minutes or 2 days time. But I think that if you’ve never deleted them before, the biggest hurdle is just simply pressing the delete button. Overcome that hurdle and you’re already halfway there. Give it a shot and lmk how you get on. They don’t have to be deleted forever, it’s just taking the first step.
As a female genz off social media, I’ve been looking for a lot of videos on guys’ perspectives on this topic. the reasons are usually different between genders or non-genders, but this is definitely one of the best videos i’ve seen about this topic from a guys perspective. No theatrics, no bias, just facts, love it! ❤
@@TadhgMiddleton For guys I have definitely seen a lot of them comment about how they’re noticing problems when it also comes to how women use instagram, how most of the image content ends up becoming nsfw, even if it didn’t start that way, In turn making everything fake and just like everyone is clickbait for false version of yourself. Both genders end up spending excessive time and money as well. but then when your spend 6-10+ hours on social media it becomes more of your reality then your life outside of it. Also I feel like guys are fed up with the false reality of people, lifestyle, dating and just trying to always keep up like you’re running on a treadmill, and you can’t ever feel good enough cause your life doesn’t look this way, or your girlfriend, or friends are not this aesthetic etc. Girls tend to focus on the dark sides of self comparison, there well aware of the unsafe content that’s been fed to them through a stream sense they were children, but it leads to depression, anorexia, dangerous online situations and over consumption, which could lead to over spending, participating in events just for photos that no one really wants to go to, and probably both genders eventually dabbling into other addictions (food, drugs, alcohol etc) just cause everyone is so used to constant gratification. theres subtle differences but I definitely feel like the reasons tend to bleed into each-other, and effect the dating world because people don’t know how to separate social media and reality. I could’ve probably gone more in depth into this but i typed this super fast on my phone (sorry for the spelling errors)
Got myself a flip phone. Social media sucks. However I'm still going back to my smart phone to check main texts or calls. When I want to be on my flip phone daily.
I think social media can be used to build a brand personality, but not really to sell products or services (apart from things like clothing/other products people are addicted to buying). It can work from the POV of “throw it at the wall to see if it sticks”, but to me, that is reflective of a business that won’t last because it’s quite a cheap way of promoting it. I think a lot of people are put off by businesses on social media because they know it’s a cheap way to market it, therefore they assume that the product/service of the business will also be cheap in a negative sense. Now, of course, the likes of Primark excels in the business landscape because their products are cheap and mass-produced, but I think most people prefer exclusivity over convenience. But it does depend on the specific business, of course.
I don't know if I am the only one but since I deleted social media I ruminate a lot things I watched or read on it. It's even hard to concentrate on important task because I feel the negative emotions which come with it .
I remember speaking to a friend who faced the same issue. My advice, and also something Tim Ferriss talks about in his book “The 4 Hour Work Week” is that you must have something with which you can replace the time normally spent on social media. That “something” looks different for a lot of people, and some people make the mistake of choosing “anything” instead of “something”. I know that sounds weird, but think of it like this: Person A decides to replace their time normally spent on social media with generally reading books. Although this may be a “better” option than doomscrolling, if the person is just aimlessly reading books, it then becomes the same addiction but with a different substance. Person B on the other hand, decides to read books with intention - they do not read just because it’s “better” than doomscrolling, but because they are making a conscious decision to read each book. They also work on passion projects, take up new hobbies, work on their social skills etc. The key element of this is that Person B is more intentional and aware of the decisions they make. Person A aimlessly reads books, whereas Person B does all these things with a purpose and aim in mind. Long response, I hope that all made sense and best of luck to you.
I joined Instagram 2 days ago for the first time and I was shocked how bad it was. AI slop, softcore porn, Onlyfans whores, Bad meme short videos. Weird. Already might delete it. I dont know anyone on there so I dont think I should participante.

100% UA-cam still counts, and it is a cope to say otherwise 😂 however, at the very least, one has the option to use UA-cam as a means of education, as opposed to most other forms of social media where they’re basically just pure entertainment.
I experienced almost the same thing...There is some true to what is posted. (any #SoME ) but I learned a lot from youtube videos. Like fly fishing/tying , Real English and other stuff.
For sure, I think a good quote to keep in mind is “the dose makes the poison”. Basically means that too much of anything is a bad thing. Social media isn’t inherently bad, but too much of it is. Same thing with UA-cam.
Quitting social media was easy but now I'm addicted to UA-cam.
100%
100% truth.
UA-cam feels a bit more 'analogue' though, so to speak. You can get inspired and learn things. Can still easily get addicted though.

To actually answer your question though (lol), yes, I think word-of-mouth marketing is by far the most effective.

Btw, this paragraph above is the antidote to the issues you are facing. It’s less about WHAT you do, and more about WHY you do what you do.
