I wanted to make it clear that everything I say in this video is just my opinion and a mere attempt at rationalizing the way I perceive skill in Don't Starve Together. If your perspective differs from mine, it doesn't in any way mean you're wrong. Also, I wanted to make a correction about Beard. My comments regarding his slow reading speed really only apply to his older videos, his newer ones are perfectly fine.
Thanks for the shoutout, was quite surprised! Congratulations for the 10k Lardee, very well deserved. You deserve AT LEAST ten times more. And if you continue to post such amazing videos, you'll reach that number. Take care dude ;)
Congratulations on 10k Lardee, for me you deserve much more than that and you will certainly achieve everything you deserve, I have always loved your videos and lives, so please never stop making them. And Willow's boss rush is in the plans, I'll take your tip about it being a commented gameplay, and I'll congratulate you on the 11k that you will definitely achieve in the next few days 😁
Firstly: Congrats on 10k, you're the G Secondly: 18:10 totally, that was the og plan but I realized I wasn't fast enough at producing videos to be able to do that in a reasonable time. I also wanted to get established on youtube with a couple of videos to my name so I didn't really care how well they did, just that some people enjoyed them. Future videos will be coming in a single episode! Enjoy!
Honestly you are doing the right thing I believe. Its better when you are starting to make content to just make some and establish some kind of routine before throwing yourself into whatever kind of content is currently popular.
Congratulations on your 10k subscribers Lardee! (now 11k already! 🤩😍) Thank you for mentioning my channel in your video, I learned so much in beefalo taming and how to play certain character in better way from your videos 😄 you are amazing! ⭐🔥
I enjoy being "mid" at the game. Most of the time I am resource managing and base building, it's relaxing. And there is still many things and mechanics I need to learn, which I enjoy, the fun of diving deeper into a game
15:58 ese es mi youtuber favorito de todo dst, es el único youtuber ingles que se toma la molestia de responder sus comentarios en español y amo sus guías con walter, gracias a el pude vencer a la bee queen antes del dia 100
Congratulations, my dude! I found your channel a couple of months ago and you blew my mind with your webber S+ run. And now I'm so impressed how great you are at sticking with character traits and creating strategies using them. I love that you're taming beefs, I was always a big advocate of them. And it's so cool to see how each of your videos is an improvement on the previous ones. You're consistently making great content for the community! Keep cooking! P. S. You said that you don't want to make a vid on characters that have their mains here on UA-cam already. And then you said "go ahead make a vid that does justice to your main, show me". My man, I think I'm speaking for a lot of people when I say: Do those runs anyways if you want to, we'd be glad to see your take. And if those mains make a vid, then it'll most likely be great for all the channels involved and for the viewers as well!
Amazing video, very informative. It taught me many things like how to pronounce Guille's name properly, and provided links to amazing channels I had no idea existed like beard777
I think the best players of DST are the ones that coming up with new and creative ideas to play the game and beat the bosses. Since with enough practice and time, everybody can be good at this game potentially. I’m not trying to discredit to people who are good at this game skill/mechanic wise by the way. Personally, FreddoFilms is my favorite DST content creator because I really enjoy unpopular opinions and stuff like that. I think he also deserves a shout-out. PS: Congrats for the 10k subs, dude, love you!
FreddoFilms is also my personal favorite, but I didn't feel comfortable recommending his channel to my audience (which certainly includes kids) after his infamous video sponsor.
I recently discovered you. Your content is very clear and helpful. Thank you for your good work. I started watching dst content in 2016, and then i was only following James Bucket. His videos made me fan of dst. Then I started watching other content creators, Jazzy, DemonRebuilt, Jakey etc. I am proud of just watching these youtubers to be part of this community. All the people mentioned in this video created this great community. So be proud of your work.
I am happy to be considered A teir at least rushing the ruins before day 10 is a common thing i do but i dont really speed run raid bosses cause i main wormwood instead i rush toward moon quay to mass produce healing so the ability to beat 3 raid bosses before day 30 is rough with loads of risks for me but once im set up i can kill pretty much everything but toadstool i still struggle on him cause im not adept at using weather pains...
Thanks for the DVG shoutout; I was about to email you if you missed. Also a legend: Joshmocoolstuff who stopped posting, but brought Challenge into a survival game. And James Bucket. And the Wes main.
Enormous timesink. I think that's the best description of DST there is. I think everyone eventually comes to this conclusion naturally..so with how large the time investment is, makes your time management super important
Ranking player skill based around their skill on each character seperately is interesting actually. I never thought of it like that. It didn't make much sense at first but after thinking about it, yeah it does make sense. People like Maddest of Matts and you being like top 3 or top 1 best players for Woodie and Wendy respectively just showcases how true that is. ..but what is the most all round skill showcasing character? There still has to be "the most" of this category still. Wes? Wilson maybe? Someone like Walter because they're arguably like...shit as a character? also this shout thing is really awesome, I think it's a really good thing you're doing, despite it not having too much influence.
DonGiani is amazingly doing the same "style" of content as Yrimir or Ninjishu for Terraria, or at least that's who it reminds me of. It's for many (me included) such an awesome way, and probably the single best way, of doing playthroughs on youtube. I can't imagine the amount of effort needed but I think we are all grateful for them!
10k is sweet i love this content i dont play or know a lot about dst but i love the lore so your vids are awsome i watch the all the time before i sleep keep up the good work 🎉
I don't consider myself to be a good player before watching your content and especially after watching your content, along with other content creators. But, glad I can consider myself a B-Tier player under your tier list. Happy 10K subs from a WX main.
the best players are the ones who have fun playing the game. If you have fun, "skill" will come soon enough. The real best players are the ones who not only have fun but are also creative and find new ways to play the game, or can adapt really fast, as another comment also said. Lardee is great at that for example! Don't get discouraged!
I thought I’ve already seen a lot of the lesser known dst creators. But I’ve been proven wrong. Thanks for shouting them out Lardee. I’ve been enjoying the new wave of creators but I still remember my roots. So that’s my question for you, Who was the first person to introduce you to this game? Be it a creator, family, or friend.
Good video and congrats on the 10K. I recently subbed because your beefalo taming videos (and tamed two myself not long after), and stayed for the character guides. I also used to watch beard for a while at 1.5 times speed, but eventually unsubbed because I wasn't that intrested anymore. One thing that I think is (sort of) overlooked in most recent DST content is the content of original Don't Starve. I beat adventure mode multiple times when Reignt of Giants wasnt out yet, and I miss that feature in DST. If it was in DST originally instead of through mods, it would get more attentention in speedrunning videos and also videos like this. Also, your discord link seems to be broken, and it might be a good idea to include an email adress, so people can send messages like this there instead of in the youtube comment section (and include pictures, more personal info they wouldnt otherwise share, etc.)
i feel like a better way to measure skill is looking at what they can do in a broader sense like food management or base locations and such like boss rushing is a big component but not everything like what happens if you rush ruins and die to a summer fire or get a good base and die to a ruins rush
A good DST player is a player that sees the game as a sandbox, and not a survival horror game. I've played this game for 10 years and still occasionally die due to not paying attention, and speedruns themselves are a weird concept for me, same goes to beating bosses - a good player treats bosses as a source of resources, not a "challenge", because the only truly difficult boss is Fuelweaver (As a Wickerbottom main idk how to beat him, no clue what's the meta strat lol), the others are a question of preparation, doing them without preparation is some challenge, but I don't think it's a good way of telling if you are good at the game - you are good at a challenge in the game.
DST is going up in player count recently. Even if it isn't as big as arc, I've seen the immergence of new videos and channels promoting the game. One day it'll be less niche
man I thought I was decent at the game for knowing how establish a good base and survive forever, turns out it's about clearing WoW dungeons by yourself
i would say "good in relation to other players" is still a decent way to view "good" because usually the average of all player's skills is going to be, well, average.
You can fall on the spectrum depending on what character you play, unless you're a great player who is consistently good with all characters. I'm an S Tier Wendy (thanks to your videos) and Wolfgang/Willow but B on most others C on one or two (I've never played Wes or Wilson so I don't know their perks Just that I should tame ornery with wes). Also if I were to spawn in winter or summer it'd be a lot harder to get established. And then we get into endless and adjusting the world settings to be harder. I thought it was so great you gave shoutouts to underappreciated content creators. I watch all of those you mentioned and love what they do and effort they put in.
so i am from D tier to B tier player i rly need to have some more patience cuz i allways create new world after day 20- 30 sometimes i survived till day 80 or 100
Dunno man I can't count myself as a S tier player after 800 hours of gameplay because of no rushing anything. As a maxwell main I just build big base, collect huge resources, and do basic farms in early stage of the game, in mid game I farm bunnymen for unlimited NF, dark sword and night armor, kill %70 of bosses in total, clear all ruin and archieve. Lastly in end-game I just farm Fw with lightbulb technique, kill 2-3 nightmare werepig for unbreakable, no drawback, tier 2 and decent protection dreadstone armor set. Adding ornery war saddle beef, full bone armor set, 6 duelist, unlimited Nf, + usefull wicker books and that it I broke the game in a 2-3 years of dst run.
Congratulations on 10k subs 🎉 a couple of additions. I wish lakhnish had continued making videos.
