Like my Duster. Bought it in 1980 for $1,400 from original owner (numbers match). 1973 B5 blue 340 bored .030 over, factory Hurst 4 spd and 3.55 rear. Quick little car...won't sell it until I can't push the clutch in any more.
You can tell that car's from back in the day, has ashtrays in the back. It's not a perfect rebuild but still a really nice car. And I'd love to have it in my driveway. And the sound of that 340 is sweet music.
The 340 was a great motor. It was never used in ANY four door grocery getters. It was replaced by the 360 which was a less capable engine but the 340 in performance trim was a terrific small block engine.
A bodied chryslers, 70, and 71 models were so popular. # 1st of all you could afford em, #2nd there were light weight pocket rockets, which means the rigth 340 or 360 block stroked 396 or 408 you can race it all day. my neibor up the street had a 71 dart sport red black stripes always caught my attention when he drove that dart, sweet sound.
Oh man. This brought back good memories. Mine was a 1970. White with black vinyl roof. I had bucket seats and a hurst shifter. I dragged raced it every weekend at the strip. I used up a lot of clutches. Finally being young and no money I had to drive it in the winter and it rusted away beyond repair. I sold it in the front yard to a guy who needed a new motor in his dump truck. 😢 Fast car. I now drive a 2009 Mustang but only in the Summer. 😅

It’s weird how some cars look like they were just made for Cragers. Are used to really hate these cars when I was younger and as I got older I realized how come so many people choose to make these very fast. It’s a great platform for a starter/ upgrade Mopar build. Dusters are typically more affordable, this car it looks great.
I think Cragar's look good on any 60s or 70s muscle car, probably my first choice if I change out the wheels. Mostly cars with chrome bumpers go nicely with Cragar's, later 70s Camaro's and T/As pull it off in my opinion.

Walked into a Plymouth dealer in 1973, (I was 29 and working in a steel mill) sat down with a salesman and ordered a Duster 340, 4 spd, Green w/black vinyl top, with all the bells and whistles on it, I mean it was loaded, then I put a deposit down and headed home thinking 4 or 6 weeks before it comes in. Salesman called me the next day and said he had sent the order in but he said he changed one item and that was the transmission, he changed the order from a manual to the 3 speed automatic Torqueflite, then told me I would be happier with the automatic. Well that led to an argument on the phone and that led me back to the dealer, he refused to change the order so I told him to have fun driving it when it comes in and asked for my deposit back, which he refused to do that. Got me a lawyer the same day, the lawyer called the owner of the dealership and I got my deposit back plus an apology from the salesman and manager. Walked across the street and bought a new '73 Cutlass Supreme sitting in the showroom, but dang I almost had a 340 Duster, I think about that car to this day.

The designers at Chrysler must have been visually impaired or high on drugs to come up with these ugly and infantile designs. That hood scoop is pure decoration. There is no opening for it on the underside of the hood.
LOL, but it's there to make it a functioning hood scoop!
