Looking at the timestamps, you mention a “weird theory” and later “Satakal.” Are you suggesting the Maomer were the left handed elves and they’re “slightly under water” nation is actually the sunken nation?
i wonder if they're related? perhaps descendants of the lefthanded elves that fled from Yokudan might and genocide. Not too dissimilar from the Falmer and the Nords, yes?
tbh, I've thought this from the "sea elves" inception. It fits perfectly, I mean what other Mer fits perfectly with the islander, coastal, pirate theme, being the elf opposition to the redguard, than the Maomer that were added in ESO? The alternative is that the left handed are all dead and these are completely different but, we know bethesda/elder scrolls writing is full of combacks and returns. They even already have an explanation for not being in other games but, possibly existing in present times. The way Maomer are written seems to have full intentions that they are a lost group of Elves from the sea, which fits into Yokudan and also gives an Atlantis feel, which I can see Beth doing for the elves, an advanced ancient society in the water.
@@spider-spectreit doesn't disprove your theory but the sea elves are mentioned as part of the wolf queen's plans. If I remember correctly she made a deal with them that they would invade but the psidic order stopped it via giant storm. It was in the books about the wolf queen in Skyrim
Very interesting take on Satakal. I can see it being a lost piece of mythology. If the Maomer helped the Yokudans and learn of the sea to leave the island and their destruction. When a race makes exodus, a lot of their history and culture get left behind. Hammerfell is one of the most political provinces of Tamriel. I can easily seeing how some of the upper echelon would want to rewrite the narrative of a Mer helping them.
An actual thorough exploration of Maormer, thank you so much. I’ve always felt like I knew so much about them that couldn’t be found on the wiki, or in lore videos.
Build Idea: The Aquatic Arcanist, which serves as a self build and a champion of hermaeus mora, leaning into both the nautical aspects of hermaeus mora and using the new spell mods to create a skyrim version of eso's arcanist class
I remember reading a non- canon book called "Raid on Pyandonea" in the SHOTN mod for Morrowind. It has an interesting interpretation: King Orgnum is, in fact, a title - he gets killed near the beginning, and a new one rises up and takes the mantle. Orgnum also appears to be able to transform into a serpent and use his Sight the same way the Nords use Voice to manipulate the rules of nature.
The theory of Satakal being a corrupt memory of Orgnum from the period before the Ehlnofey War is a very fascinating one which I had not heard before, by the way. Very interesting speculation, even if the lack of additional texts to help build up a proper foundation for it makes it a bit tenuous.
What mod did you use for the non-ESO Maormer? Lost Races of Aetherius adds playable Maormer, along with Falmer, Dwemer, Ayleid, and Tsaesci. And the Maormer would be exactly the sort of wild card to undermine the Thalmor's attempts to conquer Tamriel. The Empire may be crumbling, but only a fool fights a war on two fronts. There could even be a plot/quest about finding and returning King Orgnum's Coffer so he can take on the Thalmor with his fleet directly (and the Thalmor are at a disadvantage due to not having either the Psijics or the Empire to help against the Maormer fleets)
I'm pretty sure it's from Beyond Skyrim: Cyrodil, which is a work in progress and, from my understanding, not widely available to people not working on the project. FudgeMuppet, if I understand correctly, is given snippets of footage to use in their videos by the developers of Beyond Skyrim
That's how it is always going to be... They don't care to change it. The only notification I get is when I see an upcoming premiere on my homepage, and that means they have to set a premiere, and I have to be scrolling YT.
I'd love to see the Maormer as a playable race in TESVI. I feel like in general they and the Reachmen (if Bethesda really decided to emphasize them as their own people) would be the easiest for playable race expansions. Also, is that thumbnail a modded Skyrim armor? It looks awesome!
ESO has done a great job of emphasising Reach culture, and that the Forsworn of Skyrim are merely the sole survivors of Ulfric's crusade. Seeing how the surviving clans west of the mountains interact with Bretons is an interesting prospect. Perhaps I'm setting my hopes too high, but new playable races would definitely draw people back into the series. Maormer seem less likely, though they are known to scout the more southern parts of the region. Them taking advantage of the Thalmor-Alik'r conflict to gain a foothold on Tamriel could be a fun concept. My personal favourite, though unlikely a playable race, would be to see a more developed Falmer culture, expanding westward from the Forgotten Vale.
it wouldn't make sense to play as a Sea Elf, and Reachmen are basically Bretons with a different culture it would be cool if you could say you are a reachman in dialogue or something

The Maormer really should be playable in 6. The last time we got new playable races was the orcs and Imperials, and that was all the way back in TES 3. Making them a playable race would simply offer so many new character opportunities, as well as developers a chance to explore how NPCs would react to a PC that is wholly alien.
What I'm wondering is how well serpent magic works on other reptiles. It would be quite a shock if the Maormer were to suddenly attempt to control Argonians or the like. The only issues I can think of that would make this more difficult would be the fact that Argonians are likely more intelligent than the sea serpents the Maormer regularly manipulate, thus making them more difficult to control, and the fact that the Hist already has a strong influence over the minds of the Argonians. Regardless, this does not seem like it would be the most absurd thing for the Maormer to attempt, given their great understanding of magic
Interesting point, but I think what would make it harder for the pandoneans is the argonians' link with the hist tree which acts sort of like a hivemind. I wonder which one is stronger, the hist influence or Orgnum's magic
If Orgnum gets younger with time doesn't that mean that eventually he will become child and thus less powerful, than he used to be? Perhaps his best chance to defeat Altmer was early on, when he was old and wise. I do appreciate those Elder Scrolls myths where gods look like squabbling nobles, perhaps from a previous kalpa, who just became creators of the new kalpa and brought in all of they old grudges and aliances into the new world.
Interestingly enough, the cult of Diagna originated in Yokuda during the "Twenty Seven Snake Folk Slaughter". Diagna was also said to be the deity that was instrumental in the Redguards war and eventual victory over the Left Handed Elves and looking at how close Yokuda was to Pyandonea I doubt those "snake folk" were Tsaesci which leaves the Moamer being the race that fits that description of "snake folk" the most. So I do think its is likely that the Left Handed Elves were a offshoot of Moamer.
Not gonna lie, if the Thalmor could, even if just for a moment, look past the prejudice (difficult to say the least), they would be wise to ally with the Maormer, just as they did in the 2nd Aldmeri Dominion, in order to bring an end to the Empire. It wasn't just Altmer, but also Maormer fleets that were decimated when the Numidium came and created a devastating cataclysmic event upon the Summerset Isles, and many Pyandonean ships were likely lost in the defense of Summerset's shores. If the Altmer could focus most of its power in its land assault, and let the Maormer handle the Fleet movements accordingly, they'd be able to give the Empire hell.
18:37 This is probably one of my favorite pieces of furniture that I achieved from scrying for a good long while due to its size and history connected to it.
Did anyone else notice the Black Mesa sign in that Redguard village around 26:24 minutes into the movie? Thats from the Halflife game right, whats it doing in elder scrolls? 😆 I doubt its very lore friendly but funny to spot though 🙂
I've had my fingers crossed for a while, hoping that Zenimax gives us playable Maormer in ESO. In my opinion, they are the only race that would make any sense if they add a new playable race. They could give us a story tie in and let us go to Pyandonea. It would be awesome.
I wish they went all out in the next elder scrolls game. Give us ALL the races. There's like 30 in lore and even modders have only implemented a small number (minotaurs, the frog people, the races of akavir, etc).
I’ve been wondering about the Maormer since 2011. But lazy Bethesda Game Studios have given us nothing, not just about the Maormer, but with this franchise as a whole since 2012. I’ve been watching this channel for almost 8 years and it would be nice to see a bit more criticism from FM with how BGS have handled this franchise. FM and other similar channels and communities have kept this fandom going for almost a decade and Bethesda are really out of excuses at this point
@@mybutthasteeth1347 note that I said BGS, not Bethesda softworks. And in my opinion, TESO did not really give us much (interesting) lore about the Maormer, but that’s not the purpose of online anyways, it was just to show us them and maybe give a slight amount of info
imagine an alternate timeline where Redguards (game) didn't suck and the Adventure series survived alongside the main series till this day. Hell, even a novel like The Infernal City every couple years would be deeply appreciated.
@@Henrex2000 Redguard sucking was just another excuse for Bethesda to be lazy and not venture out further. Whenever somebody asks why they don’t do more with the franchise and it’s sitting in a corner collecting dust, it’s “BUT MUH REDGUARD”. I’m not going to be making any excuses for Bethesda anymore and I’m sick of their laziness and people dicksucking making excuses for them saying they shouldn’t create spin-offs cuz a game that came out 25 years ago sucked
I've heard enough BGS criticism to last a lifetime and have plenty of my own. This is a lore and theory crafting channel, focusing on what they have to work with and creating great videos that immerse you in the lore and world of ES. I'm sure they do have their complaints but that's obviously not the kind of content they want to create. We all know BGS could be doing better, it is discussed ad nauseum. I personally don't see the point in talking about it though in the middle of a lore video. There's other places for that and it's not like the negativity is what's keeping the community alive. Really it sounds like you just want your complaints parroted back to you to get some kind of validation.
You know, listening to the Storm Magic section made something occur to me: It seems like it might be the case that the Maormer have some sort of interaction and possibly trade relation with the people of Akavir. In particular, I would guess that they probably have some sort of kindred relationship with the Saesci, and if I'm being honest, I think that would actually go a long way to explaining the failure of the invasion by Uriel Septim V against that people's lands. The unexplained, shocking changes to the weather that the snake men of Akavir greatly benefited from could be pretty easily answered by the Saesci having learned to do so via cultural exchange with the Maormer over time. That campaign seems to have seen weather manipulation occurring in a slightly different way than the people of Pyandonea tend to use it, but that makes some sense insofar as Akavir is a place which presumably has far more land territory than the Maormer's home; thus leading to innovations the sea elves wouldn't naturally come to, themselves.
Hey man, love your content! When running around skyrim the other day, i found the Sleeping Tree Giant Camp, and was mesmerized by the glowing purple tree in dark evening. Have you done a video on this, or are you considering one?
Maormer in ES VI: *Thalmor conquer their homeland* *Forced into Sentinel slum and harassed by xenophobic Redguards like how Dark Elves are treated in the Grey Quarter*
Maybe random thought but it would be an interesting idea to make a video on how would Skyrim look realistically according to lore. I mean actual population/scale of region/towns etc and maybe some monuments/towns/settlements not included in the game. Would probably require a lot of work but really think it would be interesting to see. In any case keep up the good work!
I just assumed all elves are the closest form to original elves as they reflect elven souls influenced by gods creation of Nirn. And that sea elves adapted to the sea, and high elves fucked with goblins of summerset. They’re all technically original eves in their purest form.
The idea of a Maomer invasion as the threat we face in ES6 instead of some godly threat this time around really tickles me. King Orgnum is a mysterious, god-like character already so we wouldn't really need a greater threat.
Godly threats can wait til DLC, i only started playing shortly before the second or third Skyrim DLC was released, but reading about the Maormer in the few books i remember seeing anything about sea elves mentioned and yet seeing nothing of them otherwise really makes me want some type of interaction with them.
To be honest I don’t see it, maybe as the biggest DLC for TES VI it would make sense but the Thalmor situation needs to be resolved. What I think they’re going to do in TES VI is let you chose any side you want, even an independent high rock/hammerfell but the canon ending will be that the Thalmor and Empire both lose at the same time. The reason being is that this current empire is essentially destined to fail and the Thalmor are not built to last either since they look down on their Khajiiti and Bosmeri allies. What I think is going to happen is that the canon ending will be basically that of the battle of glenumbria moors. The dominion is utterly crushed in the final battle but the empire loses so many troops that it was basically a Pyrrhic victory and their military utterly collapses. This would not immediately reflect in the game, and the main general of the empire similar to a general tullius type of character would say “we lost countless men but the dominion threat is null, we have some rebuilding to do” that never gets done and the canon result is an independent hammerfell, balfiera, high rock, and orsinium with Bretons, Direnni, Orcs, Reachmen, etc all sharing power until a new empire arises. In TES VI we should get a spinoff made by Bethesda themselves in the early eras to hold us over until TES VII which will be Todd’s last game
Hot take: The "pure falmers" are actually aldmers And the "monstrified falmers" are the real snow elves with it's adaptation rushed by the dwemers. And the wispmother is the original form of the mer, so the dwemer were actually experimenting with rushing and reverting elven evolution with the powers of tonal magic and the heart of lorkhan.
Great video, Scott. The Maomer are quite fascinating. If your theory is proven to be true (and I truly hope it is, even if just a small part of it), then it looks like the Altmer will have some serious explaining to do. We know how the Maomer feel about the Altmer, but I am curious how they feel about the other Elven races, as well as the human ones....? I would love to see more about the Maormer - both in FudgeMuppet videos and in future TES games - as a playable race. They are right up there with the Snow Elves (tied), being my favorite races in the games. The Bosmer are a very close second favorite. Thanks for doing a video on the Maomer.
No matter how great their shipwrights and captains may be. No matter how many sailors souls by their sea-serpents are set free. Always remember; they may be fearsome on the swan-road as they are on grounds fair. but they were sorely humiliated by that one olympian swimmer and swordstress bos-mer.
About the theory. Like the fact that the Maormers are also from Old Aldmeris, like the Altmers, it follows that they are purer in blood? The Maormers have adapted to one place, and the Altmers to another. Is it not necessary for the mixing of blood to have 2 factors that would mix with 1? How could warriors with Wandering Elnofey change their blood? Why then did the changed biology and culture of the Maormers not separate them from the Old Elnofey? They are literally elves-sea snakes. Why did they remain the closest to the people from whom they separated, although they changed very much externally and internally, and also completely changed their culture. And the Altmer who stayed to live on land and try to stay as much as possible as they are because of the belief that they are pure descendants of the Aldmeri - not the closest to them? Alternative theories are cool, but not when they consist mainly of "maybe, maybe, probably it is, and why not, sounds good." And if Auri-El is stupid, since he believed Lorkhan, aren't the other gods stupid too? Mara, Dibella, Kyn? Didn't he tell half-truths to everyone?

It fits perfectly, I mean what other Mer fits perfectly with the islander, coastal, pirate theme, being the elf opposition to the redguard, than the Maomer that were added in ESO? The alternative is that the left handed are all dead and these are completely different but, we know bethesda/elder scrolls writing is full of combacks and returns. They even already have an explanation for not being in other games but, possibly existing in present times. The way Maomer are written seems to have full intentions that they are a lost group of Elves from the sea, which fits into Yokudan and also gives an Atlantis feel, which I can see Beth doing for the elves, an advanced ancient society in the water.
though also i wonder if they have any relation to the Dreugh, The Altmer of the Sea.
@@spider-spectreit doesn't disprove your theory but the sea elves are mentioned as part of the wolf queen's plans. If I remember correctly she made a deal with them that they would invade but the psidic order stopped it via giant storm. It was in the books about the wolf queen in Skyrim
🤔
I admire the Sea Elves of Nirn. I hope there'll be more Lore and Content about them be released in the future.
We need more sea elf mods 🔥🔥🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
I seriously didn’t know that Beyond Skyrim: Cyrodiil would include Maormer!
Not that much, but they will have a very small presence.
Rather than Satakal being based on Orgnum, instead could Orgnum be mantling Satakal? (Like how Talos mantled Lorkhan)
Or how I mantled your mom?
Lore!!!
Also I love how I got a Starfield ad before this video started lol
Very interesting take on Satakal. I can see it being a lost piece of mythology. If the Maomer helped the Yokudans and learn of the sea to leave the island and their destruction. When a race makes exodus, a lot of their history and culture get left behind. Hammerfell is one of the most political provinces of Tamriel. I can easily seeing how some of the upper echelon would want to rewrite the narrative of a Mer helping them.
An actual thorough exploration of Maormer, thank you so much. I’ve always felt like I knew so much about them that couldn’t be found on the wiki, or in lore videos.
Hed paint with all the colors of the rainbow
These art designs are beautiful.
There's that one and then another maormer race mod it could be either
Makes sense. The Maormer almost destroyed the first dominion.
Everything changed when the Water Nation attacked
UA-cam's at it again the bell is on all and yet no notifications of new videos
That's how it is always going to be... They don't care to change it.
The only notification I get is when I see an upcoming premiere on my homepage, and that means they have to set a premiere, and I have to be scrolling YT.
Great video. I quite like the Sea Elves/Maomer, having interacted with many in ESO, and this was insightful and informative.
@@FyrsaVT Speaking of the Falmer, do you think Ysgramor butchered the right race of mer?? Even the college of Winterhold admitted that nobody really knew what happened on the Night of Tears. You do the college quest and go to that one dwemer place that has the magic item detector that shows where the eye is and the staff is. The Dwemer and the Atmorans had the most to gain with the Falmer gone and look at what happened to the snow elves at the hands of the Dwemer. I think either the Dwemer sacked Sarthaal or they tricked the Falmer and were still to blame. Can you tell the difference between the Maomer, an Altmer, A Chimer or a Dwemer at night under torchlight if they were all wearing cloaks?- Esareth Leafblade Altmer conspiracy theorist, Hater of Talos, the thalmor and the empire all equally .

@@Unidentified_Entity6lorewise reachmen are definitely not "basically bretons" in the lore they have a distinct look, very different from the bretons and their culture is completely different that's like saying a dark else is basically high elf there are distinct differences between them.
Maormer easily my fav Mer, I hope they become a bigger part of the Elder Scrolls in the future.
Man now I gotta start a Maomer playthrough
Always excited to see new content from Scott. TY 🙏
Well we do see the maromer quite a bit in eso and I bet we get an expansion based on them at some point
Hopefully. It would be nice to see what their society is like beyond raiders.
I also have a feeling that Captain Siravaen is a preview of a Pyandonea chapter.
The Maormer really should be playable in 6. The last time we got new playable races was the orcs and Imperials, and that was all the way back in TES 3. Making them a playable race would simply offer so many new character opportunities, as well as developers a chance to explore how NPCs would react to a PC that is wholly alien.
I wonder how Pelinal Whitestrake would do with Maormer?
Add them to his body count.
6310
If it ends in "mer", you know what Pelinal will do
What I'm wondering is how well serpent magic works on other reptiles.
I was thinking if their snake magic works on tsaesci
The Left Handed Elves supposed came from the previous Kalpa with the Yokudans, so perhaps they were a previous incarnation?
I like the idea that he appears younger at certain points in time because he shed his skin like a snake.
yess i hope we see more of the maormer and other non-tamriel races in the future!!!
Orgnum could be turning or have turned into a serpent like how Akaviri can become dragons.
Great, now I have an urge to install a sea elf race mod and start a new playthrough where I attack summerset using an army of sea elf followers
Make them a playable race in TES6 Hammerfell is the perfect spot for it since you can meet plenty of them in that general area in ESO
Thank you for another awesome lore vid
Amazing video as always guys!
The sea elves are probably my favorite TES elf race besides the dark elves. I’ll enjoy this video.
Thank you for your content, it's my favourite media on UA-cam. Sky above, voice within.
What graphics and character mods are you guys using? Looks gorgeous.
Instantlike and comment, will definitely watch later
I hope we’ll see these guys once elder scrolls VI is released
18:37 This is probably one of my favorite pieces of furniture that I achieved from scrying for a good long while due to its size and history connected to it.
0:31 That glass armor on the high elf looks sick! I've never seen it before, is it from beyond skyrim?
No that's from a different mod. It does look amazing though
Maormer being the Aldmeri equivalent of the first fish to grow legs is not a theory I was prepared for 😂
Did anyone else notice the Black Mesa sign in that Redguard village around 26:24 minutes into the movie? Thats from the Halflife game right, whats it doing in elder scrolls? 😆 I doubt its very lore friendly but funny to spot though 🙂
3:22 Pelinal Whitestrake really out here doing the science so we don't have to.
Except we've had ESO, which has and still is expanding the lore a LOT. You even see a lot of the Maomer in ESO
Honestly just love listening to your voice
I like to imagine that the maomer have underwater cities like jar jar binks race
No, but the Sload have coral kingdoms
it would be really cool if you did a vampiric dragon priest🧛🧛🐲
If TES6 is in Hammerfell, I hope they make an appearance.

Would be great
Brah! Incredibly interesting take
I just assumed all elves are the closest form to original elves as they reflect elven souls influenced by gods creation of Nirn. And that sea elves adapted to the sea, and high elves fucked with goblins of summerset. They’re all technically original eves in their purest form.
Oof... 27:47 mark and my immersion in the Lore being told to me is Shattered by horrible clipping on the armor over those arms 😂
I hope we see them in the next elder scrolls and made a playable race
The idea of a Maomer invasion as the threat we face in ES6 instead of some godly threat this time around really tickles me. King Orgnum is a mysterious, god-like character already so we wouldn't really need a greater threat.
Hell yeah
@@idipped2521 we all know that, at the end of the day, the Dunmeri Great Houses will win

Great makes me excited for elder scrolls 6
Hot take:
The "pure falmers" are actually aldmers
And the "monstrified falmers" are the real snow elves with it's adaptation rushed by the dwemers.
And the wispmother is the original form of the mer, so the dwemer were actually experimenting with rushing and reverting elven evolution with the powers of tonal magic and the heart of lorkhan.
I hope one day they can go back to making fallout and Skyrim builds again
You said in another video that the khajiit may be a type of elf. Would that mean they are meowmer?
What armor mod is that? You've made me want to create a Sea Elf build
The Muppets of Fudge speaks it into existence.
Sea elves in Tamriel? And they didn't call them Mermer? Missed opportunity.
I hope this community gives the Developers at Bethesda some ideas for the elder scrolls 6
Alternative theories are cool, but not when they consist mainly of "maybe, maybe, probably it is, and why not, sounds good."
And if Auri-El is stupid, since he believed Lorkhan, aren't the other gods stupid too? Mara, Dibella, Kyn? Didn't he tell half-truths to everyone?
Imagine during the second great the maomer invade alinor when most of the dominion is pre occupied with the war
Great video!
It is a terrible tragedy that they have not been in a elder scrolls game yet. They need to be in es6 in some capacity.
Hey brothers this is totally unrelated to elder scrolls but on a Fallout topic. I know it's been years and not sure if anyone may still play fallout 3 and NV (maybe so) but would yall be able to do some newer builds for FO3 & NV and/or lore based content, me and some of the other people who watch your videos would love to see some of that. There's no FO3 builds on YT, so maybe yall could get the engine going possibly.

Can you guys do a video on how developing up works in lore? Like I understand more magic means more spells or higher spells, and high skill means better attacks with a weapon. But how does health actually work?
It doesnt its just purely gameplay mechanics.
@@moskaumaster1594 I guess. But does stamina represent how long one can fight and run like runners stamina?
Makes sense as muscles gets stronger and people train as athletes or soldiers.
More magic makes as one gets better they learn skill and efficiency with costs and more powerful sorcerers usually have more magic so it makes sense.
I understand if health is just a mechanic but in some cases the trailers for eso makes it seem like the case.
