These two always made pure magic when they sing together. A opera bromance for the ages, thank you very much. The finish and the audience's roar of approval is exceptionally thrilling.
He escuchado a los mejores de la historia en 50 años Y crecí escuchando este maravilloso duetto que es espectacular ...con una interpretación perfecta transmitiendo lo que viven los personajes ...
How tragic. Both singers so expressive and carrying this tragedy. Look at their faces. And just listen to the inspired singing. And James Levine looks at the singers to make sure he knows where they were. Wonderful!!!
Saludos,
I absolutely love Domingo and Milnes together, they blend really well together sing and communicate effectively. And I have really loved all the other duets that have been posted, I was especially taken with In Un Coupe... and The Pearl Fishers Duet, and one of my favourite little things about watching those duets was Milnes' uttering of the name Cassio during Si pel ciel.
The best Tosca I have seen on UA-cam was with these two plus a wonderful soprano whose name begins with a K. I just can't remember, I am sorry to say. Milnes's Scarpia was not just menacing and evil but also attractive and almost compassionate. Domingo's Mario Cavaradossi stood up to Scarpia and sang with blood and fire. The soprano was a perfect Tosca as well. You probably can find it on you tube.
Kabaivanska. Yes, you can, though some one has placed ads at all the climaxes in the perfect way to deflate them. There used to be another posting of it but that's gone now sadly
In this duet, both, Milnes and Domingo, are very far from the greatest duets of the past, such as Merrill/Tucker, Warren/Tucker, Bastianini/del Monaco, Bastianini/Corelli, Guelfi/Corelli, Bechi/Lauri-Volpi and so forth. Merrill and Tucker (1972 and 1973) are unsurpassable. In this performance, Milnes (48) has a powerful voice but with an ugley wobble and without expression, and Domingo (42), with a beautiful voice, instead of squillo, his high notes are very tight. What a pitty¡ Greetings,
Alongside that, he had very secure musicianship, good style evident with the role of Figaro, great vocal expression, a truly exciting and thrilling top and some of the best legato lines of any baritone that he demonstrated seamlessly especially in Il Balen in the 1988 Met production of Il Trovatore. When it came to his acting he was very gifted at that, true it sometimes lacked subtlety, like during Si Pel Ciel and Act 2 of La Fancuilla Del West he looks like a predatory cat, but very compelling
However, my enjoyment of watching two of my favourite singers perform is starting to diminish after seeing so many people carp about Milnes' technique. I don't mind when someone I admire is criticised but I do when not only the comments made are blunt and artificial but expressed in an ignorant and opinionated manner, which is the case with most people on UA-cam. This was especially the case watching Milnes singing Uma Fatale, which I thought he did a good job with, but once again more arguing.
Milnes' technique wasn't perfect I agree, he did have hook a lot, and he did have a tendency to sing flat. However, nobody has a perfect vocal technique not even me and I'm a singer, and Milnes never has, and never will be the only singer operatic or otherwise to sing flat(or sharp even). Even with any imperfections he had, in his prime he has a powerful and masculine voice which got edgier in later years, and he always commanded the stage superbly even in concert.
Bad "Finalnente" from Milnes. You want to hear the best "Finalmente" out there? Merrill (with Tucker) 1972 Met Opera Gala. It will grab you to the core.
I always liked Sherrill Milnes and Placido Domingo is a phenomenal musician. Unfortunately, he has no squillo (ring) in the upper register which I find disappointing.
+Ali Yalcin Well, he was the leading baritone in the world for around 15 years. I would take that kind of weird! :) Personally, I've always liked his voice.
@@oliverdelica2289 To make such a stupid comment regarding Domingo performance is operatic ignorance on your behalf. Mediocre, nonsense, he sings Alvaro with refulgent tone. The audience certainly disagrees with you by their applause. What the hell do you know about singing. In future keep your silly comments to yourself. Leave it to the experts.

Sublime duo !

Perfecta ejecución...brillantemente dirigida, un Sherril Milnes estupendo y un Plácido Domingo legendario y perfecto ...

La soprano es Raina Kawaianska
Remember these guys in the house. Thanks/molto grazie.
Superiores.Me encanta La forza y me encantan Placido y Milnes. Gracias por subir este video tan bello

Sherill Milnes should’ve played the role of the Phantom in POTO, his voice was perfect for the role
gave me chills!
Dear Wansob, many thanks for posting those duets! Take care, J
BRAVI!!!FANTASTIKA!!!!
Me ha encantado.
Extraordinarios
Domingo makes the low Bflat and Milnes nails the crap out of the aflat at the end. Cool. Love Levine's conducting. especially at the end.

Super!

Milnes should play the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera
There is a youtube video of Jimmy Levine taking a conducting lesson from George Szell.

Truthismaster timjph they both have bad technique so no real squillo for these two
Truthismaster timjph - He does too.
@@operalover3966 nahh I think Milnes has his moments. Domingo is another story
What is hooking? Thanks
placido domingo singt wunderschön,aber der bariton ist nicht gut.er trifft manchmal die töne nicht. dadurch ist das ganze mittelmässig
domingo sounds a little flat 4:53-55-- he has so little ring over upper overtones in his voice
Sherrill Milness has nice high note, but his voice is really bad imho. Weird way of singing.
+Ali Yalcin Well, he was the leading baritone in the world for around 15 years. I would take that kind of weird! :) Personally, I've always liked his voice.
Try tucker and merrill. So much better than this nonsense
I find Milnes tolerable. Domingo is mediocre.
But yeah. Tucker and Merrill are in another level as well as Corelli and Bastitiani 🤩🤩
