SUMMARY - Actualized - One Simple Rule For Acing Life
Rule: Always do whats emotionally most difficult in whatever situation you are.
Do the exact opposite of what most people and you do.
Most people look for the most convenient thing. this leads to a mediocre and frustrating life.
It applies to the way you think, your mood, your goals, relationship, finances
Living a good life is counter intuitive, you have to do against what the herd, society is doing
your mind is unconsciously programmed to find emotionally security and comfort.
you are always looking for the emotional short cut
it takes study of your psychology to see that all you do applies to looking for comfort and security.
This creates a lot of problems
Before you can unwire it you have to realize, see it.
you have to realize that you cant live a good life if you are seeking comfort and security. 6:00
Culture, society, etc, is designed to feed that emotional weasel in you longing for emotional security and comfort.
you want no emotional easy life but a self ectualized life. this is the emotional hard way.
Depression, dissatisfaction comes from emotional weaseling
    eg. school
emotional difficult thing is to read the text book, taking hardes classes
youtube: emotional difficult is to not click on stupid cat videos
afraid: not feed into fear with more worry, not panic
relationship: establishing clear lines of communication
loosing weight: giving up sweets and going to gym 10:00
advertisement refers to your low consciousness weasel longing for emotional easiness
arguement: considering that you are the wrong one
    debate: adopting the other side
church: question all your beliefs about the church
dating: walking up to a cute girl/boy and talking with
criticism: taking criticism seriously and taking it as feedback
life in generally: sitting down and turning off mind and meditating
your emotional weasel resists that, he does not want to be bored by just sitting
presenting information: presenting the facts objectively without eggagerating
business: creating lots of value without asking for payment in return
Taking a self help program: sitting down and doing every exercise that is told
spiritual work: admit your own wishful thinking. saing that all ideas how spirituality works is bullshit, complete ficiton 17:30
life in general: questioning your culture.
managing finances: serving money for retiring
    having sex: using a condom
health: getting that scary lab test done, going to the gym
business: not taking short cuts, building solid business on solid foundation
life in general: not doing what your friends and family are doing
angryness: staying mindful through that anger, not loosing yourself in it
getting power: not abusing this power
People would have incredible success, mood, relationships, health, business if they lived this principle
this is no magic pill, it is a high quality advice
    Dont look for short cuts
Leo is often not able to do the emotional difficult thing too
society feeds your emotional lazy weasel
you will have piece of mind, dying happy, being happy applying this principle
if you are fed up with depression, anxiety, bad mood, bad relationship, whatever you are fed up with exercise doing the emotional most difficult
Bite the bullet, dont look for magic solutions, do the emotional labor requred, its not bad as you think it is, it feels refreshing to your spirit
    Thanks Leo

28:12 - 4 Years Later Leo. Since learning this I worked out my body into excellent shape (6-pack and all), coming from a childhood where I didn't play sports. Got out of a toxic relationship and have since had a dating life beyond what I could have imagined. Stopped smoking weed and started meditating. And finally turned to pursuing my financial independence full time, using what you taught. [Plus a lil marketing advice from Eben ;)] Thanks Leo. This really was the key insight that helped spark some radical change!

I totally get this. Deeply. I used to be 400 pounds 8 years ago. During that time, in those moments, each second was agony because all I craved was ANY kind of pleasure. And because I couldn't get pleasure physically and I couldn't get it mentally because my self-image was shot, the only way I got it was from eating food. The same exact thing that was destroying me was the only source of pleasure I had. Now, I'm the healthiest I've ever been, not only physically, but mentally as well--which I found to be the most important of the two and the most conducive to a good, satisfying life. The longer I put up with emotionally difficult things (exercise, learning, socializing) the more I took a step towards improvement. The "better version of me" is smarter, a clearer thinker, sexier, more confident, adventurous. There is so much to enjoy in life on a difficult journey.

Radwa...Leo here is talking about "questioning your culture" that does not necessarily mean "going against your culture". We should question all our beliefs including the religious one and as a result we may agree or disagree with the beliefs and take our course of action. For example I am a Muslim and I questioned most of my beliefs and then came to actually a conclusion that I am infact following the right religion and the beliefs.

If people really put in the hard work and determination they would honestly live completely different lives. I love each and every one of Leo's videos because they are not filled with bullshit and sugar coating. He is realistic. And in the end of the day that is the most true advice one can follow. As a girl in university I have gone through really bad anxiety. It got to the point where I would avoid school because of panic attacks. After a while, as uncomfortable as it was I forced myself to go to the one place that would trigger my anxiety and challenge it. Now, because I made the conscious decision to not take the most easy and comfortable way, I no longer get anxious. If anyone is afraid or uncomfortable always challenge yourself! It will be so rewarding.

I thought love was a fairy tale and we were "meant to be!" NOPE :D and over time really surrendering myself to what you have to say, because please take the following as a compliment: these are not your own philosophies, because you speak the TRUTH. You're helping me and giving me great insights into spiritual enlightenment (people literally think i'm crazy because all I feel is joy all the time.) Fuck society! Just challenge yourself, and work on everything to the best of your own potential. There is a woman named Barbara Arrowsmith who had a naturally fragmented mind since she was born, at 25 she couldn't tell time or understand simple concepts. She ended up working on her self and was able to repair her brain. But the big takeaway is that you can get anything out of life so long as you work hard enough for it as cheesy as it sounds, taking the emotionally hard route builds you up. I think the difference between humans and other beings is that we have the capability to challenge ourselves and to grow. So thank you Leo for your in depth talks, and for the work you give.

Leo. as i progress through pyramid, Ive actually experienced this by accident by frustration. when u have that moment of "fUCK I fucking hate this shit but I'm NOT letting this goal go, (it means more to me than that) and I WANT to and WILL create the reality for this goal if I can't fit this goal into my fuckin comfortable little reality cabin" like for example I was sitting here making a beat and got pissed cuz I got into a hellish spiral of frustration, trying to let it go, along with enforcing creativity. more so led me to the main frustration of me not uderstandig why making beatss isn't easy (yet) still after since 2010 of constantly carving at my craft. its not anything physical. better equipment isnt guna help. so now the all mighty scary truth came up (as result of my firmness to find the actual truth about it) of me asking myself if I'm ever going to really make a any at al from music or not? then i had 2choices. figure out what's wrong, (go through the hard tough rugged roaded adventure) or just simply quit and perdue whatever "feels" better. but what broke this down to the next step was me coming back to my roots and realizing why I loved making beats in the first place. not necessarily money or for people to like my music (I've failed over and over again and have YET to sell my first beat), but as a way to express myself and ALSO me making me led me to a harsh awakening that I am very thankful for and honestly is my key to the universe into understanding frequency (obviously), vibration, energy, and most important of all that still I hold till this day is duality, understanding the connection between me and source, and how powerful expression is. all I have to say till now is thank you. I cry of appreciation of you. you have no clue how dramatically you've changed my life with such high insight that you spread helping people wake up. words can't describe the gratitude i feel of what you do for this world

Yes. Leo has changed the way how i deal with my mom's constant neurotic-narcissistic-negative (NNN) person (cus i lived with her and as a lived-in home care assist which my brother pays an annual $25k salary to me to take care our mom). Leo has helped me of age 48 (has nothing if i die tmw) to grow and "not get into an explosive anger" with her when she is in her NNN state. Oh by the way, I owed my mom $525,000. She loaned me her "entire savings - this money over the last 7 yrs" and i lost them all in whatever bullshit business (real estate crash) i was doing. I had tremendous guilt including addiction (not drug but don't want to say) and all the bad stuff i don't want to mention. I first came to accept myself "by watching your videos" and learn to gradually stop the addiction, then accept my mom. Oh by the way, you are not going to believe this. But I am going to tell you like it happened. Just not too long ago, my mom realized she has this NNN problem, too. She, yes, during my father (who is a pastor now passed-away) baptism of a fellow church goer, my mom went up to the podium and in front of the audience and ask for "MY Forgiveness" and two legs fully knee down while washing my foot in front of 57 congregation members and with tears in her eyes saying, "I am so sorry to you son, please forgive my trespass".

    Makes sense ..on paper
But (there's allways one isnt't it?)
As you listed all those emotional difficult things to do i realised that i was doind every one of them ... and yet i feel as empty and unhappy a ever before. The truth is that all that stoicism that is "doing the emotional difficult thing" only eroded my soul. Now, at 30, i'm begening to learn to do the exact oppsite, to do the emotional easy thing, to take a break, to be more tollerant with myself, to endulge every now and then...
I now find that the key is to know yourself and to follow your intuition ... and of course dont forget about the proverbial moderation.

    • @swiftedg
      @swiftedg 7 років тому

I think you can have your cake and eat it too. For me, Leo's message is to take the emotional high road to start to untangle your nature of doing things the easy way. I think 'easy' here is relative to the person, so very subjective. However, if you have a different starting point, such as only doing the emotionally difficult thing (that's sounds like no one I know), maybe the opposite can work. Could your cultural background have something to do with this?

I got the burnt out feeling after years of hard emotional work. I now think the key is not to avoid hard things, but to do everything in a relaxed state. For people who make hard things look easy, it is easy for them, because they're relaxed. In the past where I would ignore myself if something feels wrong or too difficult, I stop, relax, and go easier. The progression continues, but at a much slower pace and one that I can adapt to.

    • @swiftedg
      @swiftedg 7 років тому

+crcaccount I relate to this so much. I have caved so many times in the face of hardship. As you say, slowing down is key, it allows things to be workable. But the back of my mind says 'time is ticking, you aren't getting any younger, you've been through this before, why aren't you better, already?'. I think when we take these thoughts too literally, we get anxious and form negative opinions of ourselves.

This is brilliant. And this video really hit me, because yesterday I'd just talked with my girlfriend on how I have been taking the "emotional easy way" with my parents, which I'm trying to change. And then this video comes up, so that I'm hit with a powerful 1-2 punch, that says "wake up!"
So I guess what I'm saying is, that I really appreciate how you keep punching out the hard truths, in a "no nonsense" way each week, and I'm looking forward to more eyeopening lessons.

In a parable, this reminds me of human diseases, like chicken pox. If you run away from chicken pox, you body doesn’t know how to fight it off since it doesn’t know what it is. The ‘trick’ is to safely but deliberately inject your body with chicken pox (!) so that your body becomes IMMUNE to it. In the same idea with emotions, Leo, you are inviting us all to become ‘emotionally immunised’ using the same parable. We are still emotional for sure, only once conquered, we become less ‘afraid’ to conquer new areas of life like opening up new doors to previously unconquered personal territory. The more difficult the emotional task, the more things in life that we can overcome. Lovely idea! :)

Since then, I practice meditation at all times, at all circumstances. Today, at 53 years old, I'm not awake, however, I have an extraordinary force which makes me continue to experience fully alert all kind of misfortune. I never sought suffering because I didn't need. My life in itself, spontaneously, is hell enough.

Hey Leo, I explored this emotionally difficult way of life as a style of living 4 years back, but i haven't been taking it that seriously. Now that i am 20, everyday i wake up, there is an excitement, and i can feel it that if i encourage that excitement for taking pain and actually working out and working hard for becoming a better man when i am older, there is a fear, and by now i can totally feel that working hard would make me happier, why am i so afraid that it makes sitting and just watching rock videos with my nicotine gums look somewhat appealing in some sick way.(I feel my answer is in my question. this self actualizing treasure is amazing! gentle taps on your white head!)

  • @antonitescaro2728

I believe that everything we do is to fill the void caused by existential anxiety. If you take the easy path, you are filling your life with instant gratification that will soon destroy you, if you live by this rule Leo is talking, you are filling the void with good stuff.
Still, I believe humans need to evolve into something more than just filling the void. Even animals do that, when my dog gets bored he starts destroying the house. I don't know how we would evolve, maybe by having a clear purpose since the day you are born (lack of purpose causes the void).
If we don't evolve, mankind will soon go extinct, by destroying our environment and/or ourselves with meaningless conflicts, wars and the culture of consuming shit to fill the void.
What are your toughts on this Leo?

+Actualized.org Hahaha I see what you did there.
Leo I have applied this principle on and off with dating and my school work, I study at UC Berkeley, and I have seen results in grades and with girls; however, I hate to describe it this way but before I started to see results I have been utterly exhausted and extremely fearful. But I keep re-watching this video, and I repeat to myself everyday "At any given moment always do the most emotional difficult thing to do." I'm even thinking of tattooing this on my arm.
It has work but when a new day comes I feel a lot of resistance to consistently apply this rule. It's a clean slate as new challenges arises and I go through the pain and fear again of studying or talking to cute girls. I feel like I'm at war with myself - described by Steven Pressfield's The War of Art.
How can I train myself at doing the most emotionally difficult thing at any given moment without feeling painful resistance? I do not want to interpret these feelings as pain or fear anymore.
But maybe that is it? Maybe in absolute fear and pure exhaustion I can achieve the life I want? What do you think?
